1. Your baby is just so cute don't you just love him I just want to squeeze mine. They do such cute things too. I laugh everytime mine takes a poo he does what I call the poopoo dance 2 steps right 2 steps left shake that tail and squat. its the funniest thing I've ever seen. anyway enjoy him and I love the name you picked for him. I'm still calling mine baby I think I'll get him/her Dna'd it might be easier to name baby that way.
2. As long as you don't spry the perfume in the same room Idon't see the problem as long as it is not overwelming I would think it should be fine. I would grive if at all possible to pick up your bird. I drove 3 and a half hours there and another 4 hours back through 3 blizzards to pick up my baby. It was to cold to ship at this time of year. It took 4 hours to drive back because I could hardly see the road due to the blzzards and I drove through 2 of them on the way back. it wasn't fun but we made it safe and sound and thats the main thing. I drive for a living so I'm used to all kinds of weather conditions but let me tell you it was a little scary coming through those mountains without snowtires. I'm sure your drive will be allot more pleasent and you will get to see your baby all the sooner. How far away is your baby?
3. Tyco my Grey love to chatter and talk but she talks at the same level as you or I would so its not loud at all. I have had her for 1 1/2 years and I don't think I have ever heard her scream. My Amazons a whole different story even Tyco tells her to be quiet:laugh: If you can't afford a new cage check out the rescues in your area I got a beautiful huge Macaw size cage that was like brand new for 100. from a rescue near me. And the best part is that you would be helping the rescued birds because the money for the cage goes right back into the rescue. Just a thought.
4. That story brought tears to my eyes. I also adopted a abused, neglected African Grey about a year and a half ago. It trully is amazing how these birds bounce back with love and patients. I have 3 birds that where rescues from horrable curcumstances and by far it has taken Tyco my Grey the longest to accept me and learn to trust again but it definatly has been worth the journey and I wouldn't give her up for anything. I am so happy there are people in this like you that can bring a bird into there home and show them that all humans are not cruel and heartless good for you and for Louie also I would love to see some pictures when you get a chance. he sounds like a wonderful bird.
5. As you all know I have a new 5 week old baby and s/he is on 3 feedings a day. I have to change his schedule so it co-insides with my work. I leave for at 430pm and don't get home until around 11:30 pm Wedensday through Saturday. My problem is that he is on a 7hour schedule starting at 7am I have to change that because I won't be here when he needs his last feeding. I have no Idea how to change it any advise would be very apreciated. basicly I need to move his schedule ahead by 2 hours.
6. I like the name Shady thanks I'll put in onmy list. I also like the name Zuri I just choose 10 names I like and pick my favorite out of them. I would like the get baby Dna checked.Baxsters mom I decide that it was just to much reponsibility to take on someone elses birds. I would not be able to live with myself if something went wrong. So he said if I still wanted a baby he would give it to me for half price if I wanted to finish hand feeding it myself. So yes this is definatly a keeper bought and paid for.
7. Sheila I didn't know I was getting a baby till 3 days ago. Just sort of jumped into my lap. s/he is so funny you sould here all the sweet baby noises when s/he growls because s/he not sure if something is safe or not it sounds so cute.s/he loves to cuddle and when I kiss the top of her beak s/he pushes his/her beak as hard as it can against my lips. s/he also just loves beaky rubs. I'm going to get very attached very quickly s/he just loves to cuddle
8. I now understand why everybody asks for help when it come to giving there baby a name. I've been trying since I got it yesterday to think of a name that would be suitible for either a boy or a girl I googled names on the Internet and there are so many its impossible to choose. I want something that means something special like love or blessing or joyful but there aren't many that are for a boy and a girl. Mabie you guys now some nice unisex name with nice meaning. I would love to look at them if you know any Thanks in advance.
9. Mabie he should have some blood work done have you weighed him at all to see if he is losing weight he may have a bacterial infection in his crop. Did you take him to a certified Avian vet if not I would see if I could find one and take him in for some blood work you don't want to lose hhim
10. Fergie came to me 8yrs ago say you F#@*N creep. She doesn't say it as often anymore but if anyone raises their voice in anger Fergie will still scream those words at the person who is angry. She will also say it to any man that comes into the house. She was abused by a man and hates men to this day.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/03/16 13:40

I just picked up my new baby he/she was hatched on Feb7 he/she is about 5 weeks old and a absolute joy I know how you must be feeling Because I feel the same way. Your baby has much lighter feathers than mine does. I love the look of the lighter coloured feathers Heres a picture Of mine so you can see what I mean

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/03/22 10:34
12. BY all means open his cage door he probubly won't go far from his cage but he may like to come out and sit ontop of it so he can streach his wing. Let him come out on his own if he chooses too.
13. I think that its personal prefrence as to what harrness you use. I know many people prefer the aviator but if your bird is comfortable with the feather teather why change. My motto is if its not broken why fix it
14. We made it home safe and sound I say this because I drove through 3 blizzards to pick this baby up. I don't have snow tires only all season radials. I had to cross the mountain to get her. I didn't think it would be so bad after all its the middle of March. anyway he/she is 5 weeks old and is the sweetest thing I've ever met in my entire life. Here he/she is My new baby. he/she's got a bit of formula on its nose thats why it looks a bit brown just had a bit to eat. I'm going to love raising this little one. Fergie sure is curious she was following me everywhere I went then she would sit about 6ft away and watch what I was doing she looked at the baby and said pretty baby it was so cute. I'm going to need some help with a name any Ideas.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/03/16 12:54
15. Tyco just adore brazil nuts and walnut she also loves banana chips and dried papaya all my birds like shreaded wheat or cherrios also I give them it for breakfast no sugar no milk and the munch it down. Thats great that Kiddy likes broccoli its full of good stuff that our Grey friends need. I wish all my birds would eat it but alass only 4 will the other three avoid it like I was trying to kill them so I cook it and chop it up fine and mix it in with their sweet potatos Sometimes you have to be sneaky to make sure they are getting everything they need:laugh: It sounds like your new bird is going to be a great companion don't worry about him shivering to much Tyco shivers allot aspecialy when shes excited because we are playing. Its a normal thing for Greys to do. uploading pictures is easy all you have to do is go to www.photobucket.com open an account down load your pictures there and then copy and paste the img code into your post and thats all there is to it thats the easiest way to go.
16. Thanks for all your support you guys are great. Im looking forward to haveing a new baby around. I am also wondering if I'm losing my mind:laugh:. Just what I need another bird like I don't have enough to do. Oh well at least I won't be lonley in my old age. Its going to be such a wonderful adventure I just can't wait. My friend ask me if I want a little one or a big one he says he has both. what do you think I sould get and big guy like Tyco ore a petite little Grey. I saw a tiny little African Grey the last time I was at the vet compared to Tyco it was about a 1/4 the size. I know there is no difference and I know I should let the bird pick me but is a bird that is only 5or6 weeks old able to pick. what do you think? I love the large magestic looking greys but I also have always wanted a Timnah and my breeder said that the smaller Greys that he has are about the same size as a Timnah it might be nice to have a tiny congo African Grey so cute and petite.
17. Well I know you guys have been on pins and needles wondering if I'm going todo this or not. Well this is what I have decided I could not live with myself if I took these baby's and something happened and one of them died under my watch. So I have decided that I'm not going to take the chance with someone elses babies. So I decided that I'm going to take just one baby off his hands. He said he would give me the baby for 1/2 price since he doesn't have to keep it until its weined. So on Sunday I will take a drive and go pick up my new baby. :cheer: :silly:
18. He sounds so cute When I first got Gizmo my Severe macaw he had been on a total seed diet probubly all his life and he is 8 years old. He eats allot better now but it takes time I had to sit and eat in frount of him and give him food I was eating just so he would try different thing. now he will eat quite a few different kinds of veggetables and pasta eggs and he's finally eating his pellets also once I got him eating fuits and veggies I started putting less and less seeds in his cage and always left a bowl of Zupreem fruity pellets mixed with harrisons and pretty soon he started eating the pellets because he was hungry You could try mixing his peanuts with pellet and just start giving him less and less peanuts. About him being afraid of the dark Gizmo hated being covered when I first got him if I tryed to cover his cage he would scream owie owie owie owie Like he was being killed so I started slow I covered three sides and left the front of the cage uncovered the every night I slowly lowered the blanket over the front and couple inches every night. Now I can cover him no problem. I your bird is falling he could hurt himself you might want to put a thick towel on the grate until his balance inmproves

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/03/14 01:15
19. Boy that bird can dance better than I can he really shakes those tail feathers thats for sure. Thank for the smile Dave.
20. I agree with Dave Just because this bird has problem in the home its got now does not mean that those problem won't get corrected in your home. When I got Tyco she had barbered all her flight feathers on the left side for all of her life she was 4 yrs old when I got her. Now that she is with me and I took her to the vet when I first got her and had that wing clipped and the other wing clipped to match so she was no longer off balance she has stopped barbering her feathers. apparently the reason she was barbering in the first place was due to a bad clip when she was a baby and when I had that corrected by a proffetional she was fine. there are many things that could be causeing this bird to pluck mabie there is something in her home that scares her and all it will take is moveing her to a new home and she will be fine or mabie She not getting enough baths or sleep. I don't understand why you are so reluctant to take on the bird when there really isn't anything wrong with her you may be passing up a chance at a wonderful companion just because of what is going on in the home that she is in right now. Love and patients can win over all birds.
21. My birds absolutly love their boings those spiral perches that you hang from the ceiling I have three of them in different places in the house to give the bird a place to hang out and have some fun Tyco just loves the one Ive hung next to her cage she will hang upside down and flap her wings reallly hard sometime she get that boing swinging so high I think it going to come right out of the ceiling she just loves it. as do all the other birds
22. Ah poor baby It really must have look funny though. Definatly got me giggling.
23. Did anything happen like him falling and you running over to see if he was okay. Sometime we are so quick to help when our birds get hurt but its one of the worst things we can do. when a bird is afaid or hurt because of a fall and we rush to help instink kicks in and real or not they sence we are the pretetor trying to get them and they will become quite phobic towards you. this can be changed with love and patients but its not easy You have to start from scratch rebuilding his trust. I don't know if anything like this might have happened but try to think about everything that went on aroud that time and then we will be able to help you more.
24. Very nice photo please harrness train your Grey all it takes is a one loud noise and a bit of wind and your bird could be lost forever.
25. I think Tyco's feathers have definatly gotten darker since I got her I think it has allot todo with her diet. She was never anything but a seed diet before and now she eat a more balanced diet she just loves her Zupreem fruity pellets I did try Harrisons but she doesn't like them much so now I mix some harrison in with her cooked foods and she get her Zupreem in her dish she also get a good variaty of differnt nuts and dried fruits along with her veggies eggs cheese and everything else thats good for her. I also noticed that her feathers just shine after she has a bath.
