any word on this sweetheart Grey yet I'm waiting.

Tyco used to barber one wing so she was very off balanc and would fall allot. I had my vet clip her wings to even them out and she stopped barbering and is fully flighted now. It might help if her clip was a bad clip you may want to cut them evenly so he can geow his wings out evenly at the same time.

I'm glad you got your money back thats great news. I'm so glad I didn't have to deal with any of that stuff. I know my breeder personally. He actually contacted me and wanted me to help him handfeed his baby's I said no but he gave me Shady for 1/2 price so I figure I got a good deal even if I did have to hand feed Shady he's worth the time and trouble.

My vet reconend Harrisons or Zupreem but she doesn't want me to put Shady or my other birds on anything else. MY birds won't eat Harrison's but my vet said that zupreem is just about as good. Shady is on Zupreem handfedding formula and my Breeder gave me a coulpe lbs of it but thats just about gone and all I can get at the petfood store closes to my house is Exact and I was going to switch Shady onto it but my vet said not to that Zupreem is the best. So I have to travel 40 minutes to get the Zupreem and they only sell it in small bags 1kg at 16.00 a bag. I ask if they would order me the big bags and they said no. Shady eats 2oz. of food 3 times a day and needs to be hand fed for at least another 8 weeks. I bought 2 bags yesterday Its going to get expensive at about 30 dollars a week. oh well shadys worth it. When I picked up Shady up I should have asked my Breeder if he would sell me a bucket of the stuff he buys 50lb buckets for 60.00 he buys 6 at a time. oh well to late now.

I know just how you feel I also went througha few years getting tention cluster headaches. mabie some earplugs might help during this time to deaden the noise a bit you have my thoughts and prayers I hope your headacke goes away soon.

Bleach, oxyclean, Dishwashing soap, Vinagar and water are all great things to clean with and are non toxic to birds Please get back to us as soon as you know weather or not you are getting this beautiful Sweet bird or not I'm going crazy waiting to hear if you've brought your baby home yet

So what have you decided to do now get a bird else where or not get one at all. My breeder has 4 clutches right now and I think some will be ready to go in a couple of weeks If you live in Canada I can give you his phone number. He sells his bird fully weaned for 1200. He will not sell anyone an unweaned baby unless they can provide proof that they are experiance hand feeders.

The vet said that Shady is a very very healthy baby and she fell totally head over heals in love and so did the staff. When the visit was over and we were at the counter paying all the girls where trying to talk Dr. Boardman into getting a baby african Grey for the office. I think she was actually thinking about it. Shady has such a laid back sweet personality its very easy to fall in love. My daughter Amber met Shady today for the first time because I took her with me so we could stop and buy some stuff for my other daughters baby shower. Amber said that she want Shady when I pass away. I can see there is going to be a fight for him her because my other daughter met Shady when I first brought him/her home and she has already said that she wants him her also. Least there is lots of people that love him/her already. I felt so sad for Shady the vet pulled 3 blood feathers from shady's wings and he let out a painful little scream I felt like crying. the Dna results afe going to take about 2 weeks. so I'll let you all know how it turns out. I shoud have just sent away for the kit and mailed it in I would have if I'd known it was going to cost me 52.00. Oh well I probubly would never be able to pull out his feather anyway it broke my heart to watch the Dr. do it never mind if I had to do it myself. anyway this is turning into a novel so I better shut up now

I read this artical before and fond it to be quite interesting. I do beleive that is true or at least it sound ver fezable to me

i am so sorry this baby has done this what was so tramatic thhat it caused this wee baby to do this. i definitly think you must ignore the behaviour and do nothing that might enforce this. any kind of attention towards the plucking will only cause it to become a habit and harder to break

I've take my Amazon allot of places. the beach, the mall, the park, visiting, She love to go out. Tyco my Grey isn't harness trained so I have to take her out in her travel cage but she has gone out to the park and on a few outings she enjoys meeting new people and getting some freash air.

Tomorrow Shady Grey is going for his/her first vet check. I'm going to ask the vet to do a Dna test. So I would just like to know if you all have a guess as to what Shady is a Girl or a boy. I'm very interested in your thought on this matter. I'm hopeing for a boy. But it does't really matter as long as s/he is healthy.

Gorgass if you look closly you can see that sall around Shadys neck is a bunch of pins so are his/her chest feathers if I lifted her head you would see her neck is still quite featherless her back is just a mass of pin featers as well and even her fligh feathers under the top are still covered in keritin s/he looks quite feathered in some of the pictures but its just the way she is sitting so the feathers she does have cover up the bald spots.

I saw that studie olso and found it quite interesting. I have seen it in my daughter's dog when she is onher way home that dog knows it and waits by the windoow he has separtion axiaty when she leaves and will not eat or leave her room until she's on her way home and he will then leave her room and go to the window to watch for her and everytime she will walk in within 15 minutes. It really does make me wonder what our pets can sence and if it come with a very close bond or if even a Pet like Tyco who is a Rescued bird and has trust issues in her past would she still be able to pick up on what I'm doing or when I'm comeing home. I wish there was more research done it would be nice to know how much they can sence whats going on.

I know you must be so excited I know when I was getting Tyco I couldn't get it together fast enough she needed to get out of where she was imediatly and it took me almost 4 days to come up with the money for her I must have phone every person I know to borrow money so many people thought I was right out of my mind trying to borrow money to buy a bird. She was in home where she was abused and neglected and I had to get her out of there quick every thing worked out great. I hope everything works out great for you as well please keep us updated no matter what happens I can't wait to hear, I rooting for you.

Well you got yourself a little manbird congratulations. He's very handsom and definatly looks like a boy bird to me. Did harley hurt himself his wings look like they're hanging a little low in that last picture.

How did you knowthat I would put it on my desk top. Its a good thing Shady is still a baby and sleeps allot of I probubly wouldn't have anytime with my other birds. the babys are allot of work I must say I can't put shavings in the bottom of the cage because s/he chicken scratches and the shaveings go flying everywhere so I'm constantly changeing the paper on in her/his cage every time s/he poops. I put a whole news paper down so its nice and comfy and then if s/he poops I just remove the top layer. I have a huge garbage bag ful of crinkle up news paper already and I've gone through 4 jumbo rolls of paper towel in the last 3 days. Its like haveing a baby child aroud the house. but I do love every minute of it and I wouldn't change a thing excet the fact that s/he growing up far to quickly s/he has gained 100gr. since I got her/him definatly not going to remain a little baby for very long.

I think there are alot of Greys that are fearful or catious of new toys. You could try putting the toys close to his cage but not on or in his cage then evry day play with the toy in front of him and pretend its the funest thing in the world and move it a little closer then in a few day attach it to the outside of his cage and when he starts to show intrest init then you can move it to the inside. Tyco sometime acts a little hesitiant but not really scared so I put the new toys on her play top and it usually only takes about an hour or so for her to go check it out. most of the time she's pretty good about excepting any new toy but she does have her moments when she's a little nervous.

This is a good way I would say if you have any concerns at all to write them down before you go it so easy to forget things then remember later when its to late.

That is so great that would be the day that Tyco let me put a harne on her but I was thinking I should get one for Shady I have one for Fergie and she does well but she will allow me to do anything with her I guess she is more like Baxter is with you. There are so many plces to take them when you can get them harrness trained I used to take Fergie every where she loved the park and the beach. or just to run around town getting stuff done was fun Fergie loved to go shopping at the mall with me. I can't wait to harness train Shady hopefull if I start sone it will be so easy I can already lay him on his back in my hand so harness training should be a breeze. I love the photo's of Baxter he's quite the handsom guy isn't he.

That is one nice play stand and swing Your ZZero is a spoilt little guy isn't he LOL I'm glad he's enjoying it after his little ordeal. Good for you what a good mom.

I'm so sorry what an awful thing to happen I'm so so so sorry I know its going to be hard for the next little while for you mabie you can find another Grey to help lesson the grief it won't replace the one you lost but it may help a little.
