  1. It looks fantastic, like a jungle just for the bird http://www.greyforums.net/component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,99999999/page,view/catid,1/key,2149/hit,1/ someone who builds playstands, quote me a price
  2. I'm sorry, but saying teflon is ok to use if you don't overheat it is like saying I've had a few but I'm ok to drive... I'd rather deal with the hassle of sticky pots personally
  3. http://www.cagesunder500dollars.com/products/tabid/72/p-192-ultrasonic-mister.aspx and http://www.cagesunder500dollars.com/products/tabid/72/p-190-waterfall-with-pump.aspx I really like these two things, especially since the mister will help with humidity. I also know the bird will probably be drinking from them. obviously I would clean them out daily and with disinfectants a few times a week, but would dangerous pathogens be able to build up in the inner workings or would they be safe? Yes I know they are for reptiles, but I like them.
  4. I know I'm getting ahead of myself now, I dont even have my grey yet. But the more I visit birds the more I want more than one, so I want to know if people have had trouble introducing a new parrot to an existing grey
  5. I know how dangerous using the wrong chemicals can be, so I want to know what you guys usee around your birds.
  6. I've been fascinated by birds since I was little. I tried to catch the boring native birds when I was 5ish, but they always got away. Then I saw alex on animal planet, and now I want a grey (dont actually have one yet)
  7. my aloes never stay alive...
  8. on that note as well, I say clip it evenly, keep it clipped till it trusts you, then don't clip it. I'm gonna train mine for outdoor flight which I anticipate will be loads of fun for both of us. if nothing else, he'll know how to come back if he flies out a window, which is always a danger.
  9. Well, anything I have to say is from books and reading other posts (still waiting on my grey), so take it with a grain of salt. Uneven wings can cause unbalanced flight, I'd get an even clip to avoid tumbles. Yes, a spray bottle works fine, I also read that you can buy pure aloe vera gel, and I agree with that completely, I've had aloe vera plants since I was 17. I'd slowly move up to having him shower with you. not so sure about behavior, but you should move slowly, coercion causes biting and distrust.
  10. ahh, good deal. I was actually looking at some of Harris teeters freshly prepared things, the salt content wasn't super high on any of them.
  11. ooh! acrylic. how much did that set you back? I want one, but unfortunately my pockets have bottoms...
  12. yeah, I've heard the tag vs cag thing, and it made me lean towards a tag, but I like cags better, tags are too small. I figure if I do things well then it wont matter too much. I was wondering about the grocery stores, but they all have bakeries and delis and I worry about teflon
  13. wow, that had to be scary, but it's good to know that something like that wont necessarily kill them. I remember I let a digiorno pizza wrapper get close to heat and shrivel a little bit, and I was thinking "oh thank God I don't have my bird yet" but needless to say I'll be more careful of things like that now that it happened once. I'm sure you've got a similar thought process going on right now.
  14. I don't expect to take the bird everywhere with me, but I definitely want to be able to take it as many places I can so I can well socialize it. So tell me places you guys have taken your birds to.
