It looks fantastic, like a jungle just for the bird http://www.greyforums.net/component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,99999999/page,view/catid,1/key,2149/hit,1/ someone who builds playstands, quote me a price
-
I'm sorry, but saying teflon is ok to use if you don't overheat it is like saying I've had a few but I'm ok to drive... I'd rather deal with the hassle of sticky pots personally

http://www.cagesunder500dollars.com/products/tabid/72/p-192-ultrasonic-mister.aspx and http://www.cagesunder500dollars.com/products/tabid/72/p-190-waterfall-with-pump.aspx I really like these two things, especially since the mister will help with humidity. I also know the bird will probably be drinking from them. obviously I would clean them out daily and with disinfectants a few times a week, but would dangerous pathogens be able to build up in the inner workings or would they be safe? Yes I know they are for reptiles, but I like them.

I know I'm getting ahead of myself now, I dont even have my grey yet. But the more I visit birds the more I want more than one, so I want to know if people have had trouble introducing a new parrot to an existing grey
-
I know how dangerous using the wrong chemicals can be, so I want to know what you guys usee around your birds.
-
I've been fascinated by birds since I was little. I tried to catch the boring native birds when I was 5ish, but they always got away. Then I saw alex on animal planet, and now I want a grey (dont actually have one yet)
-
nice! I want a plystand
-
my aloes never stay alive...
-
on that note as well, I say clip it evenly, keep it clipped till it trusts you, then don't clip it. I'm gonna train mine for outdoor flight which I anticipate will be loads of fun for both of us. if nothing else, he'll know how to come back if he flies out a window, which is always a danger.
-
Well, anything I have to say is from books and reading other posts (still waiting on my grey), so take it with a grain of salt. Uneven wings can cause unbalanced flight, I'd get an even clip to avoid tumbles. Yes, a spray bottle works fine, I also read that you can buy pure aloe vera gel, and I agree with that completely, I've had aloe vera plants since I was 17. I'd slowly move up to having him shower with you. not so sure about behavior, but you should move slowly, coercion causes biting and distrust.
-
ahh, good deal. I was actually looking at some of Harris teeters freshly prepared things, the salt content wasn't super high on any of them.
-
ooh! acrylic. how much did that set you back? I want one, but unfortunately my pockets have bottoms...
-
yeah, I've heard the tag vs cag thing, and it made me lean towards a tag, but I like cags better, tags are too small. I figure if I do things well then it wont matter too much. I was wondering about the grocery stores, but they all have bakeries and delis and I worry about teflon
-
wow, that had to be scary, but it's good to know that something like that wont necessarily kill them. I remember I let a digiorno pizza wrapper get close to heat and shrivel a little bit, and I was thinking "oh thank God I don't have my bird yet" but needless to say I'll be more careful of things like that now that it happened once. I'm sure you've got a similar thought process going on right now.
-
I don't expect to take the bird everywhere with me, but I definitely want to be able to take it as many places I can so I can well socialize it. So tell me places you guys have taken your birds to.

The african grey handbook was really good, I read it in 2 days and learned a lot

Hi, when I'm shopping at the grocery store after I get my bird, I want to be able to look at the nutrition information and see if the bird can eat it and how much and so on, so I want to know if there are any general established daily values of things like sodium and carbs and calories for congo greys. I'll even take a guess-timation from an experienced owner/breeder
-
I dunno if I can join the club, I've been bitten a lot, but from the pet store birds only, the people at animal jungle suggested I get used to handling birds before I get a grey. A major mitchell's tried to rip my ear off and both of the greenwing macaws put bruises on my arm, one each. I guess I didnt take the hint well enough.
-
totally going to freeflight my grey (with professionals, in a gymnasium before actually going out) but I think it will be a really fun time.
-
I saw this on the discovery channel, it was done in a very controlled environment, and when the owner reviewed the videos, she commented that the bird was describing things in the order she noticed them
-
I am so excited :) I may have found my grey!

this could be good, I have read that at about 1 year is the right time for them to break the parent bond relationship and form the mate bond relationship, so this could be a good transition. -
oh oops, I got to the bottom of page one and thought that was it... x_x
-
you... cant... say both... LOL I'd rather win it, then earn 10 million honestly. would you rather give up your bird or your house?
-
sooo many questions x_x

Yes, one of my future roomates smokes, but he's already agreed to smoke outside and he knows how dangerous that stuff can be I have no idea when I'll get mine, hopefully not too long. I got put on the list so recently, I doubt my egg has even been laid yet . Thanks for the update on the the convention, I will definitely be there. -
Please send healing thoughts this way.

oh wow, I'm glad shes OK. Things like this can be a good thing though, if your parrot wasn't sure before I'm sure she knows now that you'll be there for her.
