Well since I haden't taken a picture of Shady perching when I posted this thread I thought I'd better add one so you can all seehow big s/he is getting. No more bald spots for this baby.
-
Don't worry your doing great the biting will lessen as he trusts you more don't give up when he bites don't react at all to the bite imediatly put him in his cage then say no bite and shut the doo and turn your back he will soon realize that it is unacceptable behavour and stop the time out in his cage should not be to long about 5 to 10 minutes then try again.

that is sooooooo cute what a sweetheart you have i love her mohawk look:laugh:

Wow my Baby actually perched for the first time not holding on to the side of the cage I'm so proud. another thing he did for the firs time is pick up his milk bottle cap with his foot and play with it holding it in his foot. I want to cry my baby is growing up so quick:laugh: Pretty soon he'll be ready for college  I started the weaning process yesterday also. I gave him some sprouts.chopped brocolli, pealed cut up grapes, cut up strawberrys, and some Sweet red peppers. My vet says I should start doing this even if he just plays with it at first it will give him practice and different tastes to help him like everything later on. this morning I chopped up a bit of apple for him. and he always has a dish of small size pellets available also. I am also going to see if Ican get him down to 2 feedings a day now. He went from 9:00 pm until 6:00 am last night without food and slept all that time. Usually his last feed is around 11:00 pm and he's awake at 6:00am for his next feeding he went 2 hours longer so I think he's ready to switch he is eating some of the veggies he likes broccoliI notice that was all gone. when I cleaned his dish last night.

Oh my that is just plain cruel to clip that baby's wings before it even had a chance to fledge they need theie wings to develop proper musule on their chest I would want to kill where did you get this baby and if its from a breeder then that breeder sould know better and if they don't then someone needs to tell them how bad it is to clip a baby befor it fledges. I'm flabbergasted at the thought I just can't imagine what they where thinking they could ruin that baby's confidence for life no wonder he;s growling I would too.

Most Grey's don't start talking till around a year old some can and do talk early I would say that mama would be an easy one for him. they practice allot and most of what they say is jibberish but practice makes perfect and you could have a baby that talks very early.

Hi I'm so glad you findly have your baby home aren't they just a joy to have around. There is no way I could pluck my babys feathers thats why I got my vet to do it She pulled 3 flight feathers from my baby and s/he screamed a painful litle scream there is no way I could do that. but My vet did it so Quick it was over in a second. mabie when you take your baby for a welness checkup your ve could pull the feathers for you. Shady is starting to climb the cage now also. s/he trys so hard to pull himself up onto the perch I put at one end of the cage way low to the floor s/he can't quitew do it yet but practice makes perfect so I'm sure sooner or later Shady will be perching. Shady likes to crunck up her/his Zupreem cockateil size fruity pellets also I have also fed shady scrambled eggs. mashed sweetpotatos. and babyfood mixed veggies s/he doesn't really eat much of it yet mostly just plays with it. I'm so glad you have your baby home it so much fun to have someone to share experiances with. I like that both our baby's are about the same age. I'll keep you updated if you keep me updated about yours. Have you named your baby yet if so please tell me his name Thanks. I'm really glad your enjoying your baby as much as I'm enjoying mine. Shady love all the toys also and is so curious about every single thing:laugh:

I got Tyco about 1 1/2 years ago my daughter phoned me and said that she had gone to a after the bar closed party and while she was there she heard some noises comeing from a back room and asked what it was. and the guy who lived there said it just a stupid bird that my ex girlfriend left her when she went back home a year ago, My daughter asked if she could see him. So the took her into this little room and there was Tyco in a cocateil size cage that had poop caked on it 3 inches thick with a heavy wool horse blanket covering her afew seeds and some dirty water. Well the next day my daughter phoned me and told me about this bird so I told her to take me there. So we went there and the guy was smoking crack and the house just reeked. Anyway I asked if he wanted to sell his bird and he said sure got 800. dollars well I didn't I had 300. I said well mabie can I see the bird it was 3:00 pm and he took me to see the bird and the bird still had this dirty horse blanket covering it. I asked why the bird was covered up his answer was it makes to much noise its just a stupid bird. any way I took the blanket of and Tyco saw me she started pacing back and forth and streaching towards me so I opened the cage and Tyco came out and stepped up onto my arm The guy was totally shocked he said that bird is mean and bites everyone how did you do that. Tyco let me rub her beak and even kiss her beak. and of coarse I was in love and had to get that poor bird out of there I ask way there was so much poop on her cage don't you ever clean the bird. He sai what for its a stupid bird that bites me. My ex girlfriend left it here when she went to Ontario last year. I said to him that I had 300. dollars I'll give you the rest by the next weekend he said fine the bird seems to like you anyway. So I went home crying like a baby because I had to leave her there. I got on the phone and phined everyone I kew to borrow money to save this poor bird after four days I had 400. dollars together and had run out of people to ask. So I went back to the house and said listen All I could get was another 400 will you take 700 and he was sick and needed some crack I guess so he said sure just get it out of here. I went to get her and sure enough still covered up. so I grabbed the cage and under it was a peice of paper it was her hatch certificate. So I took her home and the rest is history.

Shady is so smart she totaly shocked me this morning. she was in her cage cooing and talking baby talk at me so I asked her if s/he wanted to come out She imediatly crouch down so I could pick her up. I was so shocked and thought no way I'm imagining it so I put shady back into her cage and asked her 15 miutes later if s/he wanted to come out and s/he did exactly the same thing she did the first time she crouched down so I could pick her up. what a smart little baby s/he is. I was really hoping for a boy but now I think Shady might be a girl after showing me how smart s/he is

I'm going to harness train Shady really early like as soon as s/he gets big enough to wear one I think than it will be very easy. I think breaders should harness train the baby's before sending them home. or at least put a harness on them a couple time so they aren't scared of them.

who thinks pepper is a Girl and has she been dna tested or is that just an educated guess from the Breeder. anyway Congradulation on your baby Girl I know your going to have so much fun with her

I'm so happy happy happy for you how old are the babies now? your breeder sounds wonderful and really seem like she trully wants only the best for her babies and not just in it for the money. I realize that the breeders must be very busy but I also think that they must take time everyday to update the new owners. sitting and wondering weather or not everything is going well is not fun.I'm so glad you found a breeder that is willing to take the time to update you I hope eveything works out for you this time. -
My birds can and do look fairly shabby sometimes when they are molting espiecaly if its a really heavy molt right now my African ring neck is going to be a year old in March and he looks so bad. I know in a month or so he's going to be as gorgous as can be once he get all those old feathers out. and mabie he will even get his rings I doubt it though I have to wait another year for that. Tyco went through a mini molt this year but nothing big so she didn't look Shabby at all.

What a cutie baby sweety pumpkin I just want to pick him up and sqeeze him andkisshim all over. Oh yea I almost forgot I have my own to do those things too  Your baby is beautiful are you bringing him home tomorrow.
-
These birds have been on here alot I always thought that all red grey looked sickly. Thats what happens when you start playing with the gene pool. Normal red factor Greys happen in nature and there is absolutly no reason why they shouldn't be any healthier than any other Grey. Its only when us humans start fooling around that we see problems look at the dog world now they are doing the same thing to birds selective breeding is just wrong. Its the poor animals that suffer for it.

Oh wow it sounds like your having as much fun with your baby as i'm having with mine. I really is like have a baby around constantly worrying that theirgoing to fall or get sick. Your lucky your guy can perch now mine can't yet so I constantly chaeing her/his papers every time s/he poops which is allot I might add  Oh well what are mama's for eccept to make sure everything is A ok with the Baby. Enjoy your baby they don't stay that way long. I'm going to take full advantage of this time and love every minute of it.
-
Oh my Thats wonderful news I can't wait til tomorrow so you can tell us all how eveything was coming home and how baby is settleing in I hope you have as much fun with your baby as I am haveing with Shady. Shady willalready lay on his back in my hand without even holding on with his feet. He is such a trusting little thing and so happy curious and playful. My vet said that he's getting big enough to start offering him fruits and veggies. She said he probubly won't eat any yet but he with play with them and pick at them and all that helps with the weaning process. So yesterday I bought a few jars of baby food I'll start putting a little of that out along with his Zupreem pellets. He likes to crunch them up I don't think he really eats them but he chews on them.
