Ask your daughter if she will give my husband lessons at calling his bluff. Come to think of it though, in his defense, if he gets a gash it really wasn't a bluff. Maybe I am the one who needs advice to train a little tyrant better. I do love the idea of the signs though. Forget the dogs, beware of parrot.

Beautiful the way he spreads his bright red tail. I like the way you can work with him and hold the video camera at the same time. Now that is multi tasking.
-
Happy housewarming to Simon and welcome to Wayne too. They look sweet together. You did a good job raleej.
-
We'll all be with you in spirit. Listen quietly and you will hear that little voice... I won't get back here for a long long time, I better buy it now. Have fun, you deserve it.
-
We all want to see pictures of your spree. Is Georgia out of your way to pick me up? Oh, wait, then you won't have room for your stockpiling and I would have to ride on the roof.
-
What has been happening while I was off for four days to the International Quilt Festival? Goodness me. Bernie, the cat on that boat was priceless! Of course it wasn't the real Tiggs, cats don't like water, so you have to wait til you get to the lake and launch him quick... if you can keep your powerboat running long enough.

Halloween? Gosh, I thought I missed it, the stores are already putting out the Christmas merchandise as of two 'eeks ago. (actually, I accidently mistyped that.. but it fit) The graphics and jokes are much appreciated from all of you. Thanks, I needed that.
-
Thanks for your best wishes and encouragement. Some days it is really hard waiting, but now that we have a time frame, I have plenty of projects to finish before he comes so he will have my full attention for as long as it takes to earn his trust and learn about how we will coexist with two birds in the house. Our breeder is planning to keep him unclipped and our poicephalus is also flighted.
-
As usual, thank you Bernie for those laughs and graphics. I darn well asked our English friends about the cat kicking and they said with a wink... watch out for that chap Bernie. LOL. Your boat crashed just from joking about kicking Tiggs... and from lack of a proper naming ceremony. That involves champagne, not cat kicking. Oh wait.. it is has a remote control captain, maybe that's the issue.

I started looking at the photos from the bottom up. Here Fred is in full feather and fine form with his gestures and antics. Then, he turns around opens his raincoat to full nudity. The trickster. The shock value. The rolling laughter at his happy attitude. He is adorable and beautiful just the way he is.

Perhaps Alfie was reading the forum over your shoulder and saw that the little girl with the curl on her forehead was horrid and she was practicing. I am learning a lot from you though. Juno is coming to us flighted and I expect we will have some of these days soon. I will have to think up a plan. Java has been pretty easy. When she doesn't want to get into her cage, she flies to the silk mango to rip off the leaves in protest. She doesn't realize I can step on a stool and reach right up to get her because she is being crazy and hanging upside down and taunting me.

What an adorable new family member. Sasha looks like he is smiling in that photo. It would be hard to find a blur in the camera... I thought that was in my eye because you have your baby home with you. You have been doing a lot of planning and reading to get ready and you will so well because you have his best interest at heart right from the start. Thanks for sharing.

And Lyn, your encouragement and attitude has been a great inspiration to me. My exuberance can barely be contained since we made the decision July 11th. It seems we already have waited a lifetime, and we have... his! LOL. I can barely wait to see how this addition changes our lives. I was out of town for four days, my last big hurrah until we settle the little guy. I was really hoping all involved would have conspired to have Juno here when I got home. What an imagination. LOL

Haha Jill, sad to say that this forum is keeping me sane while I wait. All the good ideas are keeping me busy making toys, creating separate play areas all over this house and trying to balance that feeling of breathless anticipation with dread and fear that we are not up to this guy. His breeder and her friends are saying this has been their best clutch and Juno is one in a million, but he is going to be a "handful" for his new home because he is high energy and mischievous. Help me count down and resist the temptation to grab #3 along with Juno because he is going to need a lot more encouragement with a rough start in life.
-
Hooray, we have a delivery date! The plan is for Juno to come home on or about November 7th. One of the three clutchmates had a setback with an obstruction and is weaker than the others. He is not able to eat solid food and I agree with Ann to leave them together as much as possible to help #3 to thrive. Also, monkey see, monkey do, so when Juno sees brother hand fed, he wants to go back to more feedings rather than work toward weaning. That's okay too, I am willing to wait for the best time. Note that I didn't add "patiently" to my waiting, LOL. This is going to be the best time in my life when we are all together.
-
I have been out of town for four days and could barely stand not seeing these babies. It is amazing how much they have grown. This is just the most beautiful family. When you start hand feeding, it will be a lot harder for us to keep up with you. Thanks for helping me fill my waiting time with the marvel of your video cam of miracles in motion.

This was my first day to find your thread. I loved the progession of photos. Congratulations and happy bird-day to Sadie and soon to Sterling. All three are just awe inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

CAN ANYBODY make a signature thingy? LOLZ

Thank you Talon for getting the forum signature setting updated, it is working! You are the best, thanks for your dedication and effort. -
I have a 10+ year old african grey and I need help
katana600 replied to Mythologick's topic in The GREY Lounge
I don't have any experience to offer, but I do believe that your interactions are the best tonic this guy could have. The time you are spending with him is a lifeline and he is intelligent enough to understand that you are his friend. Thank you for taking time to give him some hope with your care and concern. -
Nearly as bad as when I whistled at a passing man!
katana600 replied to JillyBeanz's topic in The GREY Lounge
Jill, you make me laugh til I cry. Thanks, I needed that. I missed the first details of the wolf whistle at the young fellow, it must have been before I joined. I can picture the look on the man's face thinking you were speaking to him in that manner, you cheeky girl you. Now I don't feel quite so embarrassed when I am absentmindly strolling through the grocery store and suddenly do a contact call for Java. That raised up some eyebrows and I hustled on out of there right quick. -
Now that's progress! The picture of Ceasar spreading his wings is beautiful. After trying so many things to please him, it must have been an exciting moment to have such a positive response from the peaches. Good for you to persist, it is worth it when you get him to react gleefully and you right along with him. Yahoo, yippee and kudos.
-
You have had a couple of rough days and I am really happy that Lily is home showing signs of improvement. You really are to be commended for your instincts of knowing when something wasn't quite right and seeking veterinarian advice right away. Best wishes and happy thoughts your way for her complete recovery.
-
Mika is fitting for him. It is so endearing to see Johan's smile and to know your entire family is welcoming him into your lives. Play, play and play some more. Your joy is magnified by all of us sharing it with you. Thanks for the pictures, we look forward to many more.
-
That picture of Argyle is priceless. Actually, I think he is hiding on Jill for mocking his name, LOL.
-
Lyn your photos and video really capture Alfie's essence. What a fun-loving energetic character she is. We still have some boxes of our kids toys I was saving for grandchildren... but they are already in Juno's toy cupboard. LOL... We still have a bit of a wait for the next generation anyway.
