You all just make me laugh til tears stream down my face. I appreciate all of you so much. T..T ... and that "O" can stand for occasionally... or often.
-
Jill, you aren't just a member, you are the founding princess! You are definitely influencing me... but that isn't "bad". I have been sensible and responsible for such a long time, I almost forgot this side of myself. Let the fun begin. And Dame Judy, you speak for me as well, not ashamed a bit. And Bernie, the best part about the parrots are their colorful benefactors. That is what made those brilliant, passionate, incredible African Greys search the world to find us!

Little do you know, it is the blind leading the blind, I am still so new at this, I don't even have my grey home yet. I was silly-beside-myself to help someone else and start to pay it forward for all the advice and help this forum has been to me. Welcome and keep posting so we learn all about Sydney and your family. Thanks.

Marlise, you don't know how much I so appreciate hearing this. In July when our breeder said they can't go home until they wean themselves, twelve weeks or so didn't sound like a long time. As we wait, it seems like a lifetime. I know it is a trade-off and we all make the best of what comes our way. Glad you are working with a vet, your confidence and skill will grow with Elvis.

When I saw the first photo, I thought Whoa, great new device to keep fingers from a quick nip, I wonder where I can get one of those? LOL. Great idea Koko, tuk tuk

Dearest Dame Judy of all knowing untold forum powers, I hereby humbly submit for consideration Tippling Occasionally On Thursday (T..T) And Princess Jill, I may actually have to rethink this bird acquisition, when will I find enough time to enjoy this forum? I am having the time of my life with the "nesting" bit though.

I feel like I have been holding my breath to see how Rishi and family are coping. I have driven the road between Dubai and Oman and it is desolate and difficult at best. I was transporting a dog to his new home and had all the paperwork that took weeks and numerous trips to their agencies, I was still a nervous wreck. To have your precious little one in ill health, border crossings and dealing with strangers and a new vet, my heart goes out to you and your family. I am really proud of you for doing everything you can for him and even happier because you give us all reason to be cautiously optimistic alongside you.

It is hard to imagine what this little guy is working to overcome. I am really glad he has such a loving home with someone he has learned to trust. Looking forward to hearing all about him when he gets to star in his own production on location with co-stars especially if he can write his own script with no more sadness.

Pat, Are both photos Adaya? I love the way her face is flushed pink like she is blushing when she is outside wearing her harness. You have a right to be a proud mama, all your birds are blessed to have you.

Please tell me this is not one of those things the parrot world wasn't telling me about the sweet little boy we are about to bring into our lives. I am going to wear a motorcycle helmet and shield if that is the case.
-
So sorry you have experienced this wrenching decision and loss. The memories you have of the love and care you provided in her last years will shine through for you after you have grieved and rested. My sincere condolences.

Dearest Princess Jill, Your Royal Highness and Boss of this thread, I seek permission to be Empress Dee and second the motion to have two F.A.R.T. days this week.

Congrats on the picture, way to hang in there and figure it out. We are all glad you did because the picture of Sydney is beautiful. I can't wait to find out what your dna test comes back to tell you! Of course it won't matter because you already love Syd and you have a name that can be for either. Syd can be a handsome girl or a beautiful boy and will have a scintillating personality regardless of gender.

For a second when I read your post, I thought "Aww bless her heart." Then, the slapstick humor bug got the best of me. I would love to see the look in Argyle's eye as he sweetly lures you in with all your trust and a treat in hand, then PSYCHE! with the swipe instead. I can just hear the two of them getting together... didja see the look on her face when she dropped that treat? That'll fix her for laughing when the plastic seat played jack-in-the-box.
-
Wow he is beautiful. Never a dull moment either with these two! This post just made my day. Thanks.

Jill, I don't call it impulse buying... I say I am planning ahead, economizing, nesting, LOL. This used to be a lovely armoire in my bedroom with books and cds and gift wrap. Juno isn't even home yet and I have been trying to "preplan" toy making supplies, first aid, cleaning aids... you know, you don't want to run out at the last minute and get overcharged... LOL. Now with all your great ideas, I need a whole freezer section for the sugar cane, palm nuts and other delicacies...

I loved your video too. I liked all the gestures Tobie makes while he is laughing, he is dramatic about his chuckles. Our bird laughs when she is being mock wicked, like when she tricks the dog into thinking the garage door opened right when it is time for my husband to come home from work. The dog runs to the door wagging and waiting... until she realizes no one is coming, just as she gives up, the bird chuckles, then whistles for the dog to come to her.

This photo tells it all with Harvey's delightful personality. "Oh no you're not coming up here to get me" The best part Jill? "They" say you become like those you are around the most. Harvey is near Jill the most, so is Jill becoming like Harvey, or is Harvey becoming like Jill? We don't care, we love you BOTH.
-
Karma to you for seeking to learn all you can to take care of this beauty. Thanks for the pictures of Coral. She looks so bright and curious. It is going to be fun to hear all of your adventures with her in the family.
-
Judy, Your enthusiasm, encouragement and passion for the grey world is unmatched. Thanks for all you do to make us feel welcome. I thought you were the hospitality coordinator extraordinaire. Congrats on your promotion and double salary. LOL.
-
Thank you Dan for all your time and valued input. Your experiences and insight help tremendously while we each figure out our own path with our unique companions. Congrats on being bestowed with the key to the inner secrets and workings of the forum.

Jill, can you recycle birthdays? Personally, I only use the decade markers to angle for more "meaningful" presents the way my husband uses his every year to make me be nice and go to sporting events. LOL. Did Harvey celebrate yours in style? I am wishing you good health and many many more happy birthdays too!

And the Nominees for Best Supporting Act are......
katana600 replied to pearllyn's topic in The GREY Lounge
That is exactly right Judy, I was away for the first time and he had her on his shoulder and reached in her cage to change her food and water. It was a sudden move in her territory without trust nor "permission" that set her off, and she has never bitten him again. Lyn, he didn't stop aggravating me, I just forgave him for it. LOL -

You know, I started a reply here yesterday with glowing reviews of my husband David. Then, he aggravated me. LOL. He has spent upwards of two decades declining any dependents beyond our two daughters. We had dogs and cats but he was adamant he wanted no part of it... except the happy kisses at the door and playtime. Then came Bella the Italian greyhound and she melted his heart. Then came Java the red-bellied parrot. He was the one this time to be smitten. I do the feeding, socializing and cleaning. However, I have to give him mega-karma for taking a bite to the face and getting past that to not only give her forgiveness and to hold her again, but to willingly get Juno and agree to be involved forever, no matter what. -
Hey! I'm Not Scared of Anything Bigger Than Me!!
katana600 replied to JillyBeanz's topic in Photography & Video Room
Wow, that is either one gigantic bean or a miniature CAG. And until you mentioned "packet" I thought Jill was some kind of master gardener with a magical green thumb.
