  1. Okay Bernie, I'll admit it, I may not ask you for driving lessons, but I will need some help to learn how to use this quote business. LOL. I will read up on it and try again.
  2. Lenny's coloring is gorgeous. I just love their gnarly little feet. He looks like he is smiling with delight as he gets a treat. Thanks for bringing him into our lives.
  3. I owe a lot to Judy for her encouraging words when I was back lurking with an empty bankbook after paying for my baby boy and starting my toy collection. And what do you know, with Judy and all of the other kind and knowlegeable forum folks, I am still reading and still waiting for my boy. Thanks and kudos to you Judy for your dedication and support.
  4. Here it is Saturday, my Bailey's went missing for T..T. and before I knew what happened F.A.R.T. passed me by too. When I read the forum it is morning here and I am going to need to set an alarm to remember to have a tipple. Crazy ole F.A.R.T.
  5. With the luck you are having Bernie, you may want to pack your workbench and tools when you go to the lake. Are you really that hard on equipment or is your fierce looking speed flame boat really a delicate lil pussycat?
  6. The support of all you good people for our forum friend makes me feel so humble and appreciative of what we all have here in support and understanding. Find your footing TaMarah and react from a position of strength and forward looking peace. May your grief resolve to open your heart to joy once again.
  7. Hi zzzelama and welcome to the forum. These wonderful folks have been educating and encouraging me while we wait for our chosen one for three long months. The experience and guidance of this forum is helpful and beyond what I could glean from the recommended books. We also have a smaller parrot and perhaps you and I can share as we learn how to introduce them so they will tolerate one another in hopes they will become to a peaceful coexistence. Thanks for joining us.
  8. Java and I were outside on the screen porch when a huge menacing bird flew over with a loud screech. She was intimidated and wanted to go back to the safety of indoors. About a month later, I bumped the covered cage in the dark and she let out the same war whoop to let the intruder know there was a huge menace under that cover. It was the only time I heard her make that sound and I thought it was incredibly clever and funny.
  9. While visiting with a bird rescue, there was a featherless parrot and the man there said it was from something toxic about the cedar chips. I also do not subscribe to the newspaper and went to a U-haul packing place to get two boxes of the plain sheets of newsprint. Thanks for the ideas to ask the library etc. for discarded issues. Cattalina thanks for bringing this up.
  10. That was a great tutorial for someone who has never seen misting. I have read about it and heard a suggestion it is best to come up from under to be less intimidating. It is obvious how much you are both enjoying the process. This is a great video, thanks.
  11. TaMarah, Your heart and intentions are well placed. We all are touched by your unspeakable loss. Our pain is meant to be a teacher, not a punisher. Forgive yourself and make the best choices you can while you adjust to what has already taken place. I love the quote of Maya Angelou, "You did what we knew how to do and when you knew better... you did better!" Joey came into your life to enrich it and when your pain is quieted with your forgiveness, you will once again feel the joy of his life touching yours.
  12. It is bittersweet for the fourth egg to still be intact. For me to have the frame of reference to watch the others grow it has been fascinating and educational. Dave, when you pull them and band them can you tell the difference in size visually, or will the weight help you distinguish hatch dates?
  13. Thanks Dan, I also missed this the first time around. The consistency is key. Reading all that others have written will hopefully spare some of us as we learn the unique personalities of our greys within the frame of general behaviour. Along with the joys we have some serious responsibilities and I appreciate knowing someone is here that can help us unravel the mysteries of our lives with these magnificent birds.
  14. Since you and Bill are still together sixteen years later, you are ahead of the crowd. Getting along with the mother of his children is a huge plus. Being friends takes a huge amount of understanding and maturity on the part of all the adults involved. We all could take lessons from you on that. I guarantee if my husband had an ex, I wouldn't get along with her and she would be me, LOL. You and Bill were made to support one another. He has strength when you need it most and now you are being his. Your sharing keeps us all mindful of what is precious in this life.
  15. Wow, those are good photos. The second one from the top is my favorite. Not only do you have a beautiful bird, you are a good photographer too. I just love the closeup and to see all the distinct feathers and shades of grey. Thanks for letting us see Mika.
  16. Bernie is not going to crash his boat again this time. Okay, well if it starts, he might. A tip for you Bernie, run it in slow motion, then speed it up and dub in the sound just for us. Do they make training wheels, or rather training rudders?
  17. It can't be babe number 7 since I am not blonde. Phew! She had a rough night. Better kick her out before midnight.
  18. Thanks for the head's up Bernie. Will delete anything that comes in if it has an attachment. Who would spend their time and energy trying to take my beautiful life? A pox upon them!
  19. Sad to say if you hadn't reminded me, I would have forgotten to T..T. Now where did I put my Bailey's? Judy, we are all concerned with your granddaughter and everyone caring for her. Let us know when she has progress and is feeling better.
  20. Hey Bernie, I think someone dubbed over your video with their own sound for I am certain Tiggs screams when you play the guitar.
  21. Ahahahaa, and yes Jill I am laughing at you and not with you. LOL. LOL again. See you always make me laugh. We all knew parrots can be trained. My breeder already pointed out to me an ingenious shoulder protector made of leather mounted to woven nylon with snap on washable poo protectors for both sides. How long before you think I will think it is too much bother to get armored with it every day and will be in the same boat with you? Ahahahahahaaa.... I may be laughing at you now but you will get to be the one to see who laughs last laughs longest and loudest. Thanks for the graphic gob photo.
  22. Sorry I can't be of any help on the feedings but I just wanted to say that you are strong and good-hearted to try again. Darla is a lucky little girl and I can tell you are going to be a good leader to her because you work so hard getting advice and help from your vet and everyone here too. Congratulations on the new member of your family.
  23. I have been spending way too many hours watching Camilla and Gonzo's cam. I also thought it looked like a tiny baby African Grey in a soft fluffy nest. I bet if I checked back every day and looked again, I would see something new each time, like cloud watching.
  24. Can you believe how fast these chicks are growing? This morning when I checked Camilla had her wings spread to keep them all covered at the same time as Dave described. The way these parents tend their young makes me so happy. It just is endearing to see the intelligence and dedication they are capable of showing.
