This is a very contoversal subject and everyone has there own opinion about wing clipping...I was against it untill my grey flew into the glass door about 4 times, I was too worried he would hurt himself, so I did a very mild cut on his wings so he could still fly just not as far. I wouldnt of cut my birds wings if there wasnt a problem...But it was doing more harm than good to have him flying into things. Others feel you shouldnt clip at all, And if you were someone who felt this way, I have heard that putting up hanging beads in the door way or putting dark colored tape on the windows would help. But Everyone has a right to their own opinion. And no one ir right or wrong. It is good though that you at least let him learn to fly, some books have said not ever learning to fly because of cutting the wings before they ever learn is bad for them emotionally and may have behavior problems in the future.

That is very sweet...Its kinda weird, Saturday I got the same scare, I couldnt find Ecko ANYWHERE, I was totally freaking out...My dog knows how to search so I had him smell his cage and the I told him to "search" and THANK GOD he found him, I was under the kitchen table sitting on one of the kitchen chairs, Thats why I couldnt see him when I looked under the table, cuz he was up on one of the chairs that were pushed in....I looked for about a half hour, Then when my baby actually found him, it was like REJOICE! lol...What a SICK feeling when you cant find them...It was like he was playing hide a seek. Glad you found him though! And in such a cute place!

I just weaned my baby, I fed him from 4 weeks...How is his weight? Is he loosing? Has he started flying yet? On the feedings you do give him, How much do you give him? My baby got 40 to 45 cc's 3 times a day, And he just started taking less and less at his lunch so I dropped it, Then the morning, Then finally the evening, He just got to the point where I couldnt force him to take it (which you should never do, force feed) He would only take about 10 cc's and then fly off, and spit it out, So I just quit giving it to him...So maybe just add that feeding back untill he stops taking it...Are you spoon or syringe feeding? You will know he doesnt want it cuz he will stop pumping the spoon or syringe...Or he will only do it for like 5 sec's and then stop like "no more!" Hope that helped, Everyone here was so VERY helpful for me...So I know they will for you too

That is so cool! I know I have asked before, But how old is Emma, She talks SO well

Yay! Isnt it great! My baby said Hello at about 3 months, But then I didnt hear it again for a long time...Now finally I am starting to hear it more again, He is 4 months too...Whats your babies hatch date???
-
YES! I really do! It really sounds like he is TRYING to say those things, I mean, Yeah Its not perfect, but it sounds like he is like practicing those words...I dunno maybe it is just me, but...it really sounds that way to me!
-
Sorry so big! I forgot to minimize them....
-
Oh Yeah that is defanitly just his crop....Your probably feeding him just the right amount...You dont want to feed too much at one time or it could cause crop stretch and then they can get a bacterial infection from that. He looks good to me! Make sure to clean the formula off him the best you can because it also grows bacteria and can infect your baby. I would also take a Q tip and wet it with warm water and even wipe out the inside of his beak gently. And like Tycos_Mom said, That hand feeding thread is reaalllyyy great! Have you ever handfed? It is really an awesome experiance and wish you the best on your journey bringing up your little one! And if you have anymore questions dont be shy! Here is a pic of my baby at 6 weeks Post edited by: Talon, at: 2009/06/30 22:37

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2009/06/30 22:40

Hi and welcome! I just weaned my baby from 4 weeks old, he is about 4 months now...Is the noise he is making like a high pitched peep..or like grumbly? Greys actually GROWL when they are afraid...I know I didnt know that...My baby did it the first like week I had him...Like If I came into the room to fast or something. And yeah, It can be REALLY loud...Or if it just the PEEP sound, he just wants more food or attention. Everyone has given you great advice! I know they all helped me a TON when I brought my baby home...I was a very paranoid mommy hahaha...I had handfed a Quaker parrot before, but not a Grey and it is a totally differant ball game! But yeah That is like the last place they will get there feathers and the bubble is probably like CaitB said just the crop being full...It scared me too when I saw it on my baby, haha Always ask lots of questions, NO one here minds...Everyone is full of lots of expieriance and knowledge when it comes to these GREYT parrots Keep us updated and dont forget to post pictures!!!!! And what is his/her name?
