  2. Awe that is so great! I love sunny!...Chug a chug a hoo hoo, that is so cute! haha I also love the "go get in your house" haha Do you call her cage her house? or are you talking to the dog? Or your spouse, LOL, JUST playing...Ethier way it is super cute!
  3. Hey Caitlin! So glad to hear things are going good with ecko! He has greyt parronts! And getting so good with the talking!!!
  4. HI and welcome! I know how you feel about the excitement of having a new baby! I just got my baby girl and 8 weeks old and she is now about 8 months...I wondered the SAME THING about the digging, I think I came to the forum and asked the same question, lol...Everyone has totally nailed it as to why he is digging, they do this in the wild in the dirt to forage and like everyone said, get certain minerals, They also do it because in the wild they might eat things that arnt so good for them, or that might make it hard for them to absorb the minerals they need, and these minerals from the ground help them digest whatever it is so they can absorb the good minerals and calcium. I will say this too though, My baby girl, her name is Calypso, She has grown out of this, She only does it now if I close her in her cage too early in the evening, and she isnt ready to go "night night" yet, she will get down in the bottom of the cage by the door and dig like a little bull, like she is going to dig out of her cage or something, lol
  5. Well Thanks, That all makes sense, And your right it is always better to be safe than sorry!!!
  6. Thank you for all the replies, I just need to make something clear, I am not saying just cuz I dont understand WHY, that I am going to start using these harmful things around the birds, I just wondered why, So I thought I would just ask. I dont use any scented things ethier in close proximity to the birds. I just dont want anyone thinking that Ecodweeb, I understand what you are saying totally, I am also a HUGE fan of woodwicks and Yankee candles, I just dont use them in the same area as the birds...But I can undersand ciggerettes, I mean they kill people, So I can understand why they would be even more harmfull to a parrot with lungs a million times smaller than a humans, And I have heard of the the statistic that each puff of a ciggarette shortens your life by 1 min or something, so how much more so for a bird...So that would be a longterm problem, not like using your self cleaning oven and your bird dies immediatly, But with the candles, I have the same questions as you when you said, "when an how does it manifest, I cant seem to find the answers" I cant ethier...and I would just really like to know. So that if it was just a ventalation problem I can start using my candles, and just keeping all the windows open or something...I have heard a lot of differant things, So I just wondered which one is the real answer...I will ask the vet, And If he can answer me I will let you all know. I just think it is strange I cant find the answer anywhere, Maybe it should be studied more to increase the safty of our animals <br><br>Post edited by: JungleDreamz, at: 2009/11/22 16:49

LOL, OK I will do it, The men in white coats are already monitoring me cuz when I take calypso in the shower the books say to act like your having this wonderful time, lol, SO imagine that, Splashing the water about, Making funny silly cooing noises, and saying "ooohhhh this is so much fun!!!! YAY! Want shower want shower" :silly: <br><br>Post edited by: JungleDreamz, at: 2009/11/20 17:26
  8. My baby doesnt talk yet, She is just 8 months old, I just wanted to say I LOVE THE PICTURE, is he looking in a mirror? lol, That is SO cute and funny!
  9. I know it is so frustrating...Notice tho, I didnt call them "friends" hahaha just "someone I know"...Stupid people is what I should of said, haha OH, and what about ciggarette smoke, Isnt that bad too? Or are scented things worse? I dont smoke, I just wondered, these people smoke as well.
  10. oooo Yay Thanks Jooles! I needed some Karma too, My Karma # is so LOW! haha
  11. I know scented candles are bad, But I just wondered WHAT about them makes them bad? Is it the actual "scent" or "smell"? Or is it that it makes carbon monoxide levels higher? Or is it the smoke? And Can you burn a scented candle if you open all the windows and put all fans on so it is well ventalated??? Oh an here is just a horrific thing for ya, 1st of all, dont worry, The bird in this story is absolutly FINE, so no sad bird dying stories, haha...I dont like to read them, so that is why I am letting you know it ISNT that so you will read on...Someone I know burns scented oils and Insence on a table RIGHT NEXT to thier parrots cage...I mean, RIGHT next to it, like butted up to the cage,AAAHHHHH!!!! What is wrong with them!?!?! I mean isnt this just as bad if not worse than scented candles? AND The other question I had is, Why is the bird ok? Why isnt it dead in the bottom of the cage? I told them it was bad, And they just said "well she is fine isnt she?" Eeeerrrrrr, What can I say to that?!
  12. Does it sound like mine in the video I posted under "Stumped, Got it on video?"
  13. Thats great! How did you teach them to dance? That sounds very cute
  14. Your grey does the squat and wiggle too?! Lol, I thought mine was the only one...I have never seen any other parrots or bird poop that way, it is SO funny!
  15. What question did Jill ask that got you thinking? Did I miss something??? And I am sure animals have "random babbling"...But I know just about all noises have a meaning if you ask me, Actually even random babbling has a meaning, I would interpret it as just being happy and feeling silly...So maybe that is all it is. Just a happy silly noise. I still dont know though, Its just so differant
  16. Lol I know how you feel, I think they like it all dirty and messy around them, I just like did a super cleaning job on my greys cage yesterday, and that includes the floor, and it already looks like a breed thousands of chickens or something in that one area of the house. My answer is...They know how to aim their little poop shooter, and if you ask me they are very accurate, LOL! :woohoo: This is probably what they are thinking in their heads, "Ready.....Aim......FIRE!!!"<br><br>Post edited by: JungleDreamz, at: 2009/11/19 16:20
  17. Really ecodweeb?! Thats pretty cool...I wonder what it means if it is just a "grey" noise, and not something she is mimicking...
  18. Your baby is gorgeous...I am so sorry to hear he has Pdd... And we all love pics here, so send more!!! and like everyone said, this place is great for any bird owner who loves Greys, regardless of if they have one or not. We all learn from each other here too, and its great! And we always like to hear from new people.
  19. No I dont have Aim, And Im sorry I should have noted that the second one is me trying to mimic her, lol..The first one you hear is her, The other isnt...Sorry...So pearllyn You are right on the second one, It is a human whispering the "how" word...hahaha So I gotta give you karma for that!!!
  20. So none of you have heard it huh? lol, She is so weird and silly, We dont have a sliding glass door...But I never thought of something like that, Its a good guess! Well if I figure it out and someone gets it right, I will give you karma, lol, But I dont have any money or prizes to give out, hahaha So keep them coming, GUESS THAT NOISE, lol
  21. Thats why I am totally stumped, No one here makes any noise that sounds like that, Well that I am aware of, I will just have to pay attention more closely... Anyone else ever heard this before???
  22. So I went to let Calypso out this morning and I grabbed the camera, And I got the wierd noise on video, Here it is!
  23. Thanks so much for all the replies, I cant believe their are others that do this too! Pretty interesting! Yeah it sort of sounds like whispering the word "wheat" for my grey it sounds a little more like she is whispering the word "how" And she REALLY blows her breath when she does, Its like she wants me to smell her seed/pellet breath, lol
  24. ok this one is a little wierd, I am not sure how to even explain it really, But here goes nuthin! OK, My 8 month old Grey has been doing this wierd noise the past 2 days, When I hold her she maks "kiss noises" and I give kisses back on her beak, Cuz she always touches my (closed) mouth to give me a kiss, But then after that, She has been making a whispering noise, Sort of like If you are saying HI in a whisper withought the I, So like if you were trying to teach a little kid what sound the "H" makes, You know what I am saying? Just blowing air, no noise, But she isnt hissing...I just dont know what this is, haha Any idea what this could be...She does it when she is feeling very lovey wich is early in the morning and right before bed, You know sleepy times, she is sweet and lovey all the time, but EXTRA cudley, at these times, and that is when she is making this weird sound... So, I hope that was understandable, haha...Maybe someone here will be able to give me some insight on what this could be. Even if you dont know, let me know, Just so I know I am not the only one, haha THANKS! Post edited by: JungleDreamz, at: 2009/11/08 16:35<br><br>Post edited by: JungleDreamz, at: 2009/11/13 15:57
