How old is Lyric??? Just wondering since judy said if he hadnt spoken by now he probably wont...Not that I am saying she is wrong by any means, I just wanted to know like the cut off point, When you can pretty much figure a grey wont talk. I am SO very sorry to hear about your dog, I cannot imagine what you must be going through. Sending healing thoughts your way... But congrats on sadie talking!!!

I do the same thing, I will just like sit back and think, "OMG, I FINALLY have an African GREY!!!" So I know exactly what you mean, And I have had calypso a year now! Well she is a year old, and I got her at 4 weeks, her hatch day is March 9th, So April 9th I will have had her a year...lol, But ANYWAY, I still to this day think that every once in a while.

Boy parrots better talkers than Girlie parrots?

Is it true that the girls talk later than boys and boys talk sooner you know at a younger age? -
Awe, Thanks  I think we should start a thread where everyone post thier greys little baby pictures!

Awe that sounds so sweet! I love it that he still does it, Like he is just going to keep that habit forever...I love how each grey has such unique personalities. Here is calypso when she graduated to her big girl cage...It was her first night...Awwwwww

Very awesome! We thought our Grey Calypso was a male, NOPE, GIRL, lol...Its always what you dont think it seems like. It is nice to know though. For me it was sort of like I had to get to know her all over again, lol, I mean as a girl not a boy, Cuz I thought of her as male for so long. It didnt take long though Congrats on your baby boy!

And does this mean there is still hope for my grey calypso who just turned a year old on the 9th? she says Hello perfect, but that is the only "Word" she says, All the rest microwave mimics, Kisses ya know...The usuall grey mimics, But only the one word. Still hope??? Congrats again! :silly:

Oh I am so Jealous!!! I want one for calypso so bad, Just cant afford it right now :( OH well, Let us know how he likes it, I know calypso is afraid of some things, so I would be just sick  if I dropped the money on it and she hated it, Yikes! I am going to try that hula hoop one though, thats a great idea, Then if she likes it I will start seeing about saving for a nice one!!!

Thats awesome! How old is mojo? My grey calypso does the microwave so perfectly. and at the same time I am trying to push the buttons, that I cant tell if the beep is from me pushing the buttons or from her, lol, I dont know how she can know when my fingers are trying to push the buttons to make the noise right at the same time as the microwave, They are so smart arnt they?! Cuz she cant see me in the kitchen! Crazy birds. Thanks for sharing, and I love the picture!

No there is no certain brand I would recomend, I would just make sure it is organic And you can add whatever you want that is bird safe to the bland things, I have even heard cinnamon is good for them, You could add that...

First of all, I love that picture! And second, I am so happy you found some veggies he likes, Something you can try, That I did with Calypso, Is When she was still on formula, and I wanted her to get the tastes of lots of differant veggies, but she still wasnt that into like, Just eating a veggie or fruit, I got her Organic baby food...She LOVED it, Is all moist and soft and mushed like formula, but what flavor! Boy would her eyes get big when she thought it was just the regular formula, and she would realize, "WOW thats not the same stuff I have been getting!" Now that she eats big girl veggies, she doesnt want much to do with the soft mushy baby food anymore, But give it a try! Let me know if you decide to!!! Oh and when she would eat say carrot baby food, I would tell her it was carrots, and then show her and let her play around with a regular carrot, same with all the differant veggies, Like peas, green beans, ect... Oh and oatmeal, You can do some regular plain oatmeal and sneak some fruits into it, Calypso use to really like oatmeal with fresh blueberries in it. Some like bits of apple...And you feed it to them with a spoon. Good luck! Lemme know if you try it out

Yes Elvenking, Thats what I was trying to say, lol, Love is defined by us, humans, So the greys, and all animals, could have thier own kind of love, I mean if they can have favorites, they are showing deeper interest in that "one" than others, and I am saying besides mating, I know they dont have Love in that sence, that is purely to make thier species survive, and stick around, just instinct. But they do have favorites other than mates. And I say if they can have a fav, they are feeling something more special with that "One" than the others, so that could be defined as love, at least on an animal basis. Like I said before, just a differant kind. So I agree with all of you, in differant ways, haha Great topic Jooles!

I agree elvenking, And with you too dave...But that is what I was trying to say, Call it what you want, we do share something special. And Love is a human thing, Love could have a totally differant meaning in the parrot world, The definition could be differant than ours. So maybe they do "love" just in there own way, By the way that they do take care of thier young and have a "favorite" even though it is at the same time instint. But just like some humans love thier babies more than others, some greys take care of thier babies more than others, and this I would consider "love" just a differant type.
