  1. Scarlett is just beautiful. Congratulations on the new addition to your flock!
  2. Welcome to the forum Nancy, I love your grey's name too- Johnny Depp is so great in those movies... can't wait to hear more about your little Captain.
  3. The countdown is really on now, are you still planning on getting your new baby tomorrow?? I'm so excited for you!!!
  4. Glad you found your way back to us- Sunshine is very pretty and looks so happy.
  5. Lyric isn't harness trained but I use a carrier and bring him to work with me when the weather is nice enough. He really seems to enjoy getting out of the house and spending extra time with me. I highly recommend taking your bird for outings with you- I think it is good mental stimulation for them.
  6. I think you'll find the more time you spend with him the more he will grow to like you. It just takes time and patience. I'd love to see a pic of the two of you outside together, with Spencer in his new harness.
  7. It's great news you have found another breeder that you like. The babies are so cute and sweet, makes me feel all broody and maternal just looking at them!! Best of luck to you Carol in this new adventure.
  8. Hi THampton, welcome here! It was a great surprise for your wife to bring home Charlie to you- what a lady! As the others have already mentioned, you must take things slow, at Charlie's pace and win his trust. Eventually he may lower his head for you to scratch it. My 2 1/2 year old Timneh doesn't like a lot of cuddling or touching but usually right before bed time after his tummy is full, he likes his head scratched and preened for a short period of time. You'll figure out Charlie's preferences soon enough but don't force him to accept your handling- this can make things worse if he loses his trust of you. Good luck!
  9. Hi Jake, welcome to the forum. I can't wait to hear more from you about your other birds and more stories about Gus.
  10. Hey Penny, welcome here. Ajax sure is a pretty grey. I really wonder what happened to cause such problems with his toes and nails after you got him. Did your vet have any idea what could have happened? I'm glad you were able to deal with his medical issues and he can now live a happy and healthy life.
  11. Nice to meet you Storm, glad you decided to join all the fun! You can certainly learn a lot just from lurking on this site but you might as well join in and become a part of our flock. I can't wait to hear more about Storm's antics.
  12. Hello Clive, welcome to the forum! Can't wait to hear more from you and get to know you and Enoush a little better.
  13. Hi Sarah! Thanks for sharing your story with us, you're part of our little flock now so keep us updated with how things are going for Gilbert and your other fids.
  14. Hello Joann, welcome to the forum! It's so nice you took Ziva into your home and gave her a new family to love.
  15. Hey Supernova and Ben, welcome here. Ben sounds like a real joy to have around... can't wait to see more pics of her.
  16. Good to see you back on the forum again!
  17. Hi Rod, welcome here! I'm in Missouri too, but just south of Kansas City. There are people on this site from all over the world, it's really cool to meet others that share your passion for greys that live on the other side of the world. B)
  18. Great photo of your baby, I just love it that you have a new baby to spoil. Shady Grey is a beautiful bird and I can tell, much loved!
  19. I like DrsFosterSmith.com in general for toys and all my bird supplies. Also, www.birdyboredombusters.com has some neat toys. My greys like a variety of toys, Lyric loves bells and he loves stuff he can hang upside down off of. He also likes toys with bird-safe leather strips to chew. Good luck in your toy search- also don't forget you can check out dollar stores and the baby section of dept stores for cheap toys.
  20. Sorry to hear things didn't work out with Miracle but I just know there's a baby grey out there somewhere just waiting for you to come along. You have to listen to your heart for sure in issues like this! I'm glad to hear you are getting all your deposit back, too, great news! Well keep us updated- the wait for your grey will be worth it, you sound like you are going to be a wonderful grey momma!
  21. It's not unusual at all. As long as she is eating okay and otherwise being herself. I think sometimes the weather can affect their moods- for instance, mine get quite wired whenever a storm front is on it's way into the area.
  22. I think it's fine Pat and it's good practice for him. I gave my baby Tags some cockatiel sized food to practice with when they were just starting to learn how to eat too. Try Cheerios too, they love to eat them when they are just learning because they are easy for them to pick up.
  23. Great video of Emma playing. My Lyric loves to hang upside down off his toys too- always looks like he's having so much fun being a bird. Thanks for sharing.
  24. Glad to hear that everything is okay with Zzero now! Poor birdie! You certainly did the right thing taking him in to the vet right away. Now he just has to live with a headache for a day or so...:pinch:
  25. Chimay is beautiful! Glad to hear you got him home alright and he's settling in nicely. More pics please!!
