  1. Hello and welcome to you and Jake! Loved reading your story and Jake is a beautiful bird. Good luck and God bless
  2. Happy hatchday Louie! That is a beautiful pic of him.
  3. LOL His choice of words, "get up" and "let me out" are so typically "grey!" They are the center of the universe and not shy about letting you know
  4. Timber, also a TAG loves to be sprayed. He doesn't open his feathers for spraying though. He only takes a full bath, on his terms, every few weeks.
  5. What a cool comparison! Thanks for sharing and withing you many more happy years together
  6. Cool pic! Thanks for sharing. And a very happy and blessed New Year to you and yours
  7. Congratulations! What a great way to start the new year. Waiting for pics, along with everyone else
  8. I'd really like to see a list. I've been making my own candles and tarts for years. It would be great to know exactly what I could use for scent that would be safe. I've been avoiding everything anywhere close to Timber's area, but I sure miss my good smelling stuff.
  9. I just wanted to mention that with the cool mist humidifiers you need to use a bacteria killer every time you fill. You may know this and if so pardon me, but didn't want to take a chance. It is cheap and lasts a long time but is important. I got a 32 ounce bottle when I ordered this one and it will last a long, long time. I'm thinking it was a bit more than $3. I also have the zoomed stand lamp. I must say the new design is much, much better than the old. My old one finally broke totally, the new one is holding up well.
  10. I had to replace my humidifier this year and got this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00826ORV2/ref=oh_details_o07_s01_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Really pleased so far. It lets you set the humidity you want in the room and kicks on and off automatically, which is why I was willing to pay the $79. Lots of choices out there, and like Dan said you can get something that will do the job at Walmart.
  11. Whew, great news! It's always a relief to hear physical causes are ruled out.

    Good News

Interesting you said that about nutriberries Muse. Timber is, unfortunately, a nutriberry bird. I tried every worthwhile pellet and got a resounding "no way." He would eat the nutriberries so that is what he gets. He also gets a lot of other things, so they aren't the total of his diet. However, he hasn't been eating them well since I started the new batch. Very interesting to see someone else has similar concerns...
  13. I have both of those and yes, they are safe. Be sure to follow Dan's advice about how to introduce them. Good luck!
  14. Yes, we were just "testing the waters" when we bought this one. If we keep using it like we do now, I might take the plunge and get a nice one like yours Muse! So far, it is holding up well. We've been using it for about 6 months. I suspect it won't last for the long haul. In items like this, I think there is a lot of truth in "you get what you pay for."
  15. Cool pics, thanks! Glad all is going well for you. I think having a grey for a roommate is a never-ending learning experience
  16. LOL! Think I'll try that if I ever try to learn again. Whatever I was doing last time didn't work
  17. No worries! As a parront, I find myself panicking all the time over what usually turns out to be nothing. Seems like it was easier with my kids!
  18. I wish I could help but I have no experience with this issue so have nothing to say. Hopefully someone with experience will come along soon!
  19. Wishing all the forum members a blessed Christmas and a prosperous new year! God bless you, each and every one
  20. I leave the toys and perches. I clean the perches with the steam and run it over the toys too. The toys come out for washing, but I figure the steam gives them a little disinfect. The length of time you focus the steam determines how wet it gets, so cardboard type toys just get a sweep. The only time I remove them is if they are in my way in an area I'm cleaning. Most of the time I can just hold them up. Most of the steam can be directed into the cage. I let the paper in the bottom cage any runoff in there and change it after. I pull the cage away from the wall to do the back side, so that most of the runoff goes in the bottom tray. What little moisture is on the floor is on tile in my case, so I just wipe it up with a paper towel. Could just put newspaper around it too to avoid that. Maybe someone else will chime in with their experience. I know others here use steamers.
