  1. Cookie is beautiful! Thanks for sharing
  2. Hello and welcome! If you are going to be in the same room with your new fid that's half the battle. Most greys are attention hounds and want to be with you all the time. Just give him time to know and trust you. Let him set the pace on your interaction and you'll be fine
  3. Happy Anniversary Oliver! He doesn't even look like the same bird
  4. Hello and welcome to you and Oliver! I am not experienced so have nothing to say about the drinking. Hopefully someone with experience/knowledge will come along and have some ideas for you.
  5. Hello and welcome to you and Isaac! What a beautiful bird he is.
  6. Yes, be sure and get the new model. I had the old one and the stand truely was crappy! The new one is much, much better. As Dan said, read the directions carefully about the burn in period and placement. I am on my third bulb and haven't had a problem with Timber being burned. Talon, I wonder if you got a defective bulb or something? Timber really likes the light. It doesn't put out any heat (more than a regular bulb) does, but after spraying or after a bath he heads straight for the perch the light is directed at and "suns" himself there after he has done his usual after-bath flapping about.
  7. That is the sprouter I use (sprout people). I also buy their "big bird" seed mix. It isn't cheap, but I haven't found a good replacement.

    Sick Baby

I am so, so sorry for your loss.
  9. Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing I find it fascinating that they respond to particular songs and are so individual about it.
  10. Hello and welcome CAG Keep us updated and post some pics when you bring your baby home!
  11. LOL, that they do! My college age son forgets the cam... I will be upstairs in the bedroom sometimes when he comes home. I bring the cam up and have seen all sorts of interesting things!
  12. Great news that you were able to find a new home for Lucy so quickly! I'm sorry things didn't work out with Gracie, but you never know until you try.
  13. Always good to hear about a successful vet visit!
  14. Actually, they are easy to rotate and manipulate remotely. Mine is the cheaper one and it does 300 degree pan, 120 degree tilt.
  15. I use IPCam on my android devices (free version works fine for viewing). I bought Blue Iris so I could record. It is OK, but I might look at others if I hadn't bit the bullet.
  16. That would be scary with not being able to reach them to intervene being the worst part! Glad everyone is OK...

    Piper!

    Sweet! Thanks for posting
  18. LOL! I was just telling hubby the other evening that I used to have at least some concern about my decor. Now all my rooms are just another part of the aviary...
  19. Haaaaa! Sorry, but that is funny! I don't appreciate the language either, but it would have been hard to keep a straight face.
  20. Nothing is better than fresh air! Not opening the window at 20 degrees though..
  21. Cost savings depends on the type of heat you have. I don't have the ability to shut off unused rooms or regulate temp by room (hot water, gravity fed system) so the space heater concept saves me a lot of money. The only way I can think of that it might not save money is if you have electric baseboard heat and can regulate on a room-to-room basis.
  22. Glad you got it set up! I was sweating, thinking I was going to have to call tech support, but finally "got'r'done." Fun isn't it? That is the only way I hear all the things Timber can say, since he doesn't talk much when I'm in the room.
  23. I feel your pain Candi, we had the same experience with Timber the last time he went to the vet (December). The first two times we went we managed to trick him, but this time he was ready for us. As you said, it really takes two. When we do manage to get him in the carrier, I'm always prepared for a hard bite. I've avoided it so far, but I'm always ready for it so I don't overreact and hurt him trying to get free.
  24. Timber wants to "feel" everything with his beak. If he like the sound it makes (and he loves noises) he will tap on the object to hear it again. He seems to test everything with his beak. When he is on the floor (something I don't encourage), he will sweep the tile, wall or whatever is near like he is testing for stability. He will run his beak over my skin and my clothing etc. also. I always thought it was like our fingertips, their beaks are what they use to "feel" things.
