  1. Just keep offering those veggies. One of these days he will surprise you! Have you tried different versions? I.e. raw, steamed, mashed. Sometimes they won't eat a veggie raw but will try it off a spoon if it is steamed or mashed. As you may have guessed, Timber is spoiled. However, I don't spend ALL day standing there with a spoon... Also, try a skewer hanging in the cage. Timber started out just attacking the veggies and pulling them off but has progressed to nibbling a little along the way.
  2. Kudos to you for doing your research, and for your decision to wait until you are more prepared to be owned by a grey! Good luck and God bless
  3. I love watching the "crow" videos. They are amazing creatures! Thanks for posting
  4. I've searched high and low for a supplier in the states. I just sent an email and we will see what happens. Thanks for the info!
  5. The bird fair we went to last fall had a hyacinth breeder in attendance. Yep, $10,000!
  6. I do 18" from the top of his head during burn in.
  7. I have always thought about a Hyacinth Macaw as well. They are so beautiful. That said, I will probably never have one even if I could afford it. I'm also attracted to Mynahs, but I'm not sure I would have the time or energy to devote to their meal prep and the cleanup required. In reality, if I get another bird it will probably be an Amazon.
  8. So glad it turned out OK for you. Like luvparrots, I am a farm girl. I remember crying my eyes out over the kittens I lost to owls, a couple of times during daylight hours!
  9. Timber is a TAG and weighs 276 grams on a good day... The vet says that is just his "natural weight" and that he is fine. He is a small TAG, but he looks thin to me. However, he eats well and is active. It is what it is!
  10. Pretty cat! Somewhere in my profile pics I have my brood. Timber sees them as part of the flock, as long as they "do what he says." When one of them makes a distressed meow, Timber gets upset and starts his "alert beep."
  11. Budu is a handsome fellow! Keep us posted and ask any questions you might have. Someone here will be able to help!
  12. Love the pics! You are right, "what big eyes you have..."
  13. I have four cats. In my case, Timber is much more interested in the cats than they are in him. My cats are totally indoor cats, and have never been outside. They have very little "predator" instinct. That said and as the others pointed out, I never, ever leave them out together unless I'm right there and watching.
  14. Hello and welcome to you and Budu! Post some pics of Budu and tell us a little more about your life together when you have a chance
  15. Sure what it looks like to me!

  17. I have tried every pellet with an acceptable composition, but Timber won't eat any of them. So, he is a nutriberry bird. I'm assuming that is what you are referring to. I'm not sure it is ideal, but with a picky eater you have to do what you have to do! As long as your grey is getting veggies, a little fruit and a good seed mix, I imagine she will be fine!
  18. Post some videos GC! I think Mynahs are fascinating.
  19. Someone with more experience will come along to address the poor flight and plucking. My suggestion would be to put her food in the cage and let her watch. When she gets hungry she will go in. Good luck and God bless
  20. I can see it! Joey is content and wanting to interact. Good job! Loved the video
  21. Cookie is beautiful! Thanks for sharing
