  1. When you get home from work, the first thing you do is not say "hello, how was your day? to the hubby. The first thing you do is tell your bird how much you missed him and check the papers under the grate for poop presence, consistency, and form. The second thing you do is ask hubby how the bird ate today.
  2. Thanks for the update! Timber's favorite things are cardboard and paper, like a brown paper grocery sack, phone book, or roll of adding machine tape. You've probably tried those though. Much like my kids, he's rather play with the box than the toy inside!
  3. Timber isn't a big fan of sunflower seeds either. All a matter of taste I guess! He's with Marco on the cheese though... that is always the "lure of choice" when I really need him to do something.
  4. I think animal lovers will get a kick out of this one! http://blog.petflow.com/i-cant-believe-how-funny-this-is-i-am-in-tears-make-sure-your-sound-is-turned-on/
  5. It is so exciting when they start using new words and phrases Not much doubt about what he wants with that one, and he's turning into the "imperious" grey we all know and love! When Timber says "come here" you can tell he expects his command to be obeyed pronto
  6. Nice going! I will probably be retiring in May, and I'm hoping to get some training in myself.
  7. Good job! It will be well worth the effort if you can get him out and about. We have too many predator type birds in the area for me to use one. I'd love to be able to though!
  8. Give him time with the stand you built. It took Timber 3 months to venture on to the boing I hung from the ceiling. Some things they take to quickly, others not so much. That's another example of "grey time." I have found greys to be "needy" in the sense that they want and expect your attention as much as possible. Timber is about 6 now (he is a rehome so I don't know for sure). He will still sit on the edge of his cage and give me the baby bird cheep when he wants to get on my arm for a cuddle session. With time and patience, I think you will find your life with Archie to be very rewarding. I know I have!
  9. Hello and welcome! Timber doesn't screech or scream either. He does imitate household sounds and other animals, like my cats. It is very early days yet in your relationship. Your baby will probably start vocalizing when he is comfortable and acclimated to your home. Good luck and God bless
  10. Congratulations on your new flock member! Can't wait to see pictures and more about your progress with her. Bless you for giving her a forever home
  11. What a neat video of Lucy! I really enjoyed it. I could pick up some of the words, and could sure hear the dog imitations. Was that a chicken I heard at one point?
  12. Cute pics! They do really hate having anything on their beak. By the time you get home he will have probably found a way to rid himself of the offensive rope.
  13. Hello and welcome to you and Archie Why don't you post some pics and tell us more about your life with Archie? If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.
  14. Burak, have you tried boiled egg or a baked/boiled chicken wing? Timber is very fond of those.
  15. Funny! Another one of those "crazy bird people"
  16. Hello and welcome to you and Peppie Good luck and God bless! If you have any questions just ask.
  17. That is just so sad. I've read many times about cat and dog hoarders. I haven't seen so many birds at one place though!
  18. 16 oz of water to 3 oz vinegar. That's what Dave007 had on a thread some time ago so that's what I use!
  19. Neat pics Ray, thanks for sharing
  20. Pretty baby! What is her name? If you said, I missed it. Hello and welcome
  21. Interesting. I hadn't seen that one before.
  22. Good grief! Aside from the awful conditions, how could a person afford to feed 65 birds?
  23. They practice, practice when you here all that gibberish, then surprise you with clarity. Always reminds me of babies. Babble, babble, the it gets clearer and clearer
