  1. It is not unusual at all for Timber to eat a lot one day then pick around for a couple of days. He's an adult though. Good job with the daily weighing.
  2. Thanks for the update and the pic! So glad to hear Dali survived the move without plucking and that the new growth is looking good. Sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. I will be praying for good outcome for him!
  3. Thanks for that response Dave! I have to admit that one of the reasons I turned the heat up is because I'm getting older and colder
  4. Cheryl, hello and welcome to you and Beaker! What a beautiful baby he/she is. How exciting to be bringing a baby home. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. You might want to read the stickys if you haven't, there is a lot of valuable information there. Good luck and God bless
  5. Argh! So glad you were on hand to save the day. As you said, we all have to be vigilant all the time.
  6. LOL I've heard that one! When the kids were growing up, I kept the thermostat low (64-65). We live in a large, 1915 vintage house with hot water heat. When the boys are home now they always get their digs in about me turning up the thermostat for "that bird" and having supplemental heat for him.
  7. I have a granddaughter in 2nd grade. Our school is still teaching cursive, but it isn't graded or "pushed" like it used to be.
  8. Nice that he can be out most of the day! Timber has to stay in while I work. Seems to work OK for us, but one of the things I look forward to when I retire is having him out more.
  9. OK, I took these myself and they didn't come out so well. Timber is sitting on my arm (hard to tell in the pics). In the first one he raised his head as I was trying to take the pic. In the second, he has his beak down on my arm (scritch ready) but opened his eyes when he heard me scrabbling with the phone to take the pic!
  10. Interesting. I have two very large aloe plants. I've always used them for cuts, scrapes, burns and especially sun burns. That is just a matter of slitting the leaf and applying externally. I still don't think I'm going to take it internally.
  11. Wow, Jeff, that is a very kind offer! No I didn't get the fleece cover so don't know about that.
  12. What a sad situation! If the lady has dementia she may have had a plan, but is incapable of expressing it now. Makes it all the more important to write it down and always be prepared
  13. Loved the pics! I need to have hubby take some of Timber "assuming the position." He's become quite the cuddler too.
  14. When I was ordering, I called and talked to the pack-o-bird people. They said that even though I have a small TAG I needed to get the "African Grey" one. Maybe a sales tactic, but they convinced me!
  15. Excellent suggestion. I have one also so I can check on Timber when I'm at work or away. It does give you peace of mind.
  16. LOL, well, recently there was someone asking on the forum if they could juice their aloe plants to use. The answer was "no." You just never know!
  17. Grumpy, don't make your own. You can buy aloe juice in a large container at Walmart in this area. I don't know what you have available but you don't need to get it at a pet store. Just make sure it is 100% pure aloe vera juice.
  18. Hello Merideth and welcome to you and your flock! You have a house full. We'd love to hear more about your birds and see some pics!
  19. I know we sound like broken records but it is just the truth. 3 weeks is nothing in grey time. Just hang in there!
  20. That is a real cool pic, thanks for sharing!
  21. What a relief! So glad things turned out well for you. Thanks for letting us know
