  1. Isn't that the truth! From scratching my candle warmers, which I loved and had all over the house, to replacing my cookware with stainless steel, to realizing that I will NEVER be able to run the self-cleaning cycle on my oven, it changes so much! And after a year and a half I'm still learning things I didn't know. As you said, it's worth it to me!
  2. Loved the story, thanks for posting
  3. Loved the pic! Looks like they are doing what a lot of families do... putting aside their differences for the holiday meal
  4. Happy Thanksgiving Shane, and to everyone! There is so much to be thankful for. Not least of which is my fid and this forum
  5. True about the washing. It probably isn't worth the risk. Thanks
  6. LOL We have some mutual friends there Sterling! I have to admit, a few of my distant relatives are into daily facebook drama. I thought about hiding their posts from my newsfeed, but have to admit it is cheap entertainment. Hubby and I laugh hard enough to cry at some of their posts.
  7. Question about safety. Is a styrofoam egg carton OK for Timber? I'm thinking no, but I also know that is the kind of thing he loves...
  8. I'm pretty choosy with my facebook friends and don't hesitate to hit the unfriend button if I don't like what they are posting. I do really enjoy the opportunity to catch up with family and friends, see pics, etc. Like everything else, facebook is what you make it!
  9. Loved the videos! What a sweet baby If he is like Timber, that toilet paper roll will never lose its fascination. Timber is 6 and still likes toilet paper and paper towel rolls to chew, roll, chase, and attack.
  10. Good deal! The problem with birds and bathing is they won't do it until THEY are ready!
  11. My house is all tile and hardwood and I love it. It is so much easier to keep "really clean" than carpet. We have a basment, so coldness of the floors isn't a big issue. Interesting about the coconut! I'll have to find one for Timber, though he will probably be terrified of it (like he was the pumpkin).
  12. Timber doesn't use any type of sleep hut.
  13. Good to hear from you and glad Django is doing well! I'll be looking forward to the video
  14. It is not unusual at all for Timber to eat a lot one day then pick around for a couple of days. He's an adult though. Good job with the daily weighing.
  15. Thanks for the update and the pic! So glad to hear Dali survived the move without plucking and that the new growth is looking good. Sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. I will be praying for good outcome for him!
  16. Thanks for that response Dave! I have to admit that one of the reasons I turned the heat up is because I'm getting older and colder
  17. Cheryl, hello and welcome to you and Beaker! What a beautiful baby he/she is. How exciting to be bringing a baby home. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. You might want to read the stickys if you haven't, there is a lot of valuable information there. Good luck and God bless
  18. Argh! So glad you were on hand to save the day. As you said, we all have to be vigilant all the time.
  19. LOL I've heard that one! When the kids were growing up, I kept the thermostat low (64-65). We live in a large, 1915 vintage house with hot water heat. When the boys are home now they always get their digs in about me turning up the thermostat for "that bird" and having supplemental heat for him.
  20. I have a granddaughter in 2nd grade. Our school is still teaching cursive, but it isn't graded or "pushed" like it used to be.
  21. Nice that he can be out most of the day! Timber has to stay in while I work. Seems to work OK for us, but one of the things I look forward to when I retire is having him out more.
  22. OK, I took these myself and they didn't come out so well. Timber is sitting on my arm (hard to tell in the pics). In the first one he raised his head as I was trying to take the pic. In the second, he has his beak down on my arm (scritch ready) but opened his eyes when he heard me scrabbling with the phone to take the pic!
