  1. Hi! Welcome, you have come to the right place to share with fellow grey lovers! I love your greys name & he certainly doesn't look like a menace- but I know what you mean!
  2. Hi babysweet, I'm glad to hear Jakobs caretakers have had a change of heart. I will be really anxious to hear how your relationship with Jakob progresses. Please keep us posted, and have a great vacation! Sounds like a blast!
  3. Yep, that's the same one. Biscotti also figured out how to get his foraging wheel apart, some how pulling outward with his beak & turning & eventually the nut & bolt come lose & it goes crashing to the cage bottom. They say these items are "parrot proof", I'm beginning to think there isn't such a thing! I actually talked with the owner of Caitec, that makes/markets these products, and there is a second generation foraging wheel coming out in a few months that he says is going to be easier to fill & won't have the nut-bolt coming lose problem. Wonder if they'll take a trade in. Ha, ha. I would like to give the newer model the Biscotti test!!
  4. I have given Biscotti small boxes & bags of alfalfa, he loves making a big ol mess with it! He doesn't really eat or chew on it much, just spreads it around!! Great fun!
  5. How very sad, I don't think she has Jakob's best intrest in mind at all. If she really cared about him seems she would jump at the opportunity to place in in a home with a knowledgeable caretaker who is willing to spend A Lot of time trying to rehab him & give him a chance at a good life. I hope she comes to her senses, & bless you for trying to help him, and the special dogs also.
  6. That Alfie is such a smarty!! Very cute. Thanks for sharing!
  7. I personally would not spray with Listerine mixture either. Seems it would be very drying & maybe even burn the skin. I would really do more research on that. The aloe spray would seem to be a much more soothing treatment. Best wishes for speedy healing Dorian!
  8. Happy hatchday Ana Grey!! Hope you & your mom have a wonderful, special day! Enjoy the banana nut bread sweet girl. Biscotti sends a birdy kiss! ( That is his newest favorite thing! )
  9. Like everyone else said, I believe it's more personality than gender. I have a boy, just over a year old & he can be pure angel or pure devil. I suppose that is what makes them so wonderful to have around, always keep you on your toes! Everyday is different & wonderful, that is why we love them so much! You will have a wonderful time with Ollie!!
  10. Congrats on getting your baby home, it has been just over a year since I brought my baby boy Biscotti home. You are in for a wonderful experience!!! Enjoy!!
  11. Thanks for sharing Issac's story with us, I know putting it down in words must have been very painful. Issac probably has his own story to tell about what an awesome time he had exploring the neighborhood! Him coming back to you sure tells what he really wants! He is one lucky bird, and you are one much loved birdy dad!
  12. I really feel for you missing Yoshi, I haven't left Biscotti for more than about 8 hrs. since I've had him & I know when the time comes I will feel terrible separation anxiety. I also got major pressure from Biscotti's breeder to clip his wings, and I kept telling her not to. Thank god she didn't do it, I feel like it would be cutting his arms off. He loves to fly SO much. I'm sure Yoshi will be a happy flyer soon!! Have a fun happy reunion with Yoshi on Saturday!
  13. Oh!!! I am so relieved & happy for you & Issac!! I bawled when I read the post about him flying away & again when you got him back!!! What a wonderful bond you two have. I will rest well tonight knowing Issac is safe & sound, and I'm sure you will sleep like a rock after the adrenaline rush goes away. ( If your anything like me, you will probably be going & looking in his cage every few hours- just to prove to yourself that he really IS BACK!! )
  14. That was a great story !! Did you see the movie? It is very good too. I actually am not too far from SF, & have thought about going up to telegraph hill in hopes of seeing the conures!!
  15. I finished reading my copy of "Little Birdies!" last week & I also totally enjoyed it. It is a great entertaining read & I think any parrot lover will like it.
  16. Cute!! Silly silly girl! Thanks for sharing!
  17. Very cute!! Rene sure has a nice area to hang out & play! Thanks for sharing the video!
  18. Biscotti said his first understandable words at around 7 mo., "what are you doing?". That opened the flood gates! He was 1 yr on June 1st & is accumulating quite a vocabulary. I think the age varies with each individual bird, with around 1 year being the average. If Tui is already saying Hello, there is sure to be more coming soon! Enjoy.
  19. LOL, reminds me of the saying that goes something like -- "Lord help me to be the person my dog thinks I am."
  20. After Biscotti & I put the sodas in the frig, he entertained himself with the box! Why do I keep buying expensive birdy toys??? Because I love him SO much!!
  21. Ahhh, what a little sweety!! Thanks for sharing the cute pics!!
  22. Wow, she is really enjoying that!! I used to see sugarcane sometimes at the grocery store- have not seen any lately. I'm going to try to find some for Biscotti!!
  23. I put Biscotti in his cage around 8:00pm, he settles down on his sleep perch & doesn't say boo until about 6:00 am. I don't cover him at night, so the sun wakes him up & me too! It is so sweet, I can hear him while I'm still in bed softly saying Hi!, good good bird, Hi Biscott, etc.. I am an early bird too, so Biscotti & I have a perfect sleep/wake schedule together!
  24. Biscotti figured out how to get the nut off the bottom in about 5 min!! Luckly, I had another kabob stick with a metal nut, that he so far hasn't figured out how to get off, so I just put the plastic ball & tray on that one & he has been playing with it all day & it is still intact!!
  25. Oh my Rene, you are having too much fun!! Biscotti has started doing this but only occasionaly. He likes the dog to come near his cage, then he sometimes tells her "bad dog". It's a crack up. They are just entertaining themselves! I have seen cups that are covered with just a small opening for them to stick their head in & eat. I wonder if that would cut down on the flinging? I think they are made if a heavy ceramic, so probably dishwasher safe. Hope you find a solution & let us all know- I think Biscotti may become a dedicated "flinger" also!! :0
