  1. Thanks all for watching & nice comments. Yes, he is very entertaining! Never a dull moment with Biscotti around.
  2. This is wonderful to hear! Really sweet that he is actively seeking out your company. Thanks for the update & I also have been following your blog, great idea!
  3. Biscotti has become obsessed with cantaloupe!! The word not the melon! He isn't even that crazy about eating it but he sure is fond of the word! It's really strange because he had only heard it a few times & must really have liked the sound of it! Here is a video of him & his new favorite word. Sorry, kinda long- I was gonna edit but the later part shows him talking & laughing into his metal bowl & eating some seeds while hanging upside down! What a clown!
  4. Awwwww, what a cutie!! He looks like he has a little "impish" smile on his face in the last pick! Sweet.
  5. I am so sorry that you and your mom have had to go through this with Billie, you both will be in my prayers for peace & comfort. Billie is flying free now & in no pain. This is the hardest & also the kindest thing that could be done. Bless you & your mom.
  6. Welcome! How wonderful that you and Cocoa have established a nice relationship, and that you are taking such good care of your dad's feathered friend. How old is Cocoa? You have come to the right place to share your love for your grey, we are all a bunch of grey lovers here! I have only had mine about 1 year, but there are many people on the forum who are very knowledgeable & are very happy to share info. & answer any questions you may have. Please add a picture of Cocoa when you get a chance, we would love to see him!
  7. Wow! That's a couple of lucky birds! Very nice.
  8. That is so cute, I can just imagine how excited she feels to be able to fly now! I remember when Biscotti was learning to fly- how amped he would get! She will be an ace in no time!!
  9. Awww, what a cute, healthy looking baby!! Thanks for sharing these pic's!!
  10. LOL, this is great!! Thanks for sharing this!
  11. Yes. please fill us in! What was the diagnosis?? Poor dear Billiy, this is so sad.
  12. Yes! Please get a video!! I would love to hear Alfie's songs!!
  13. Owww!! Poor bird may have an abcess or something going on. He really needs to be seen by an avian veterinarian! It has been going on too long, please get him in for a check up! Keep us posted please.
  14. I never actively tried to train Biscotti to talk either. Just spent a lot of time talking to him. He said his first understandable words around 7 mo., "what'cha doin?" It has been a steady stream since then, he goes through periods of some favorite phrases & then after a while will drop it for another. A couple of his current favorites are "Look at that big cow!" and barking and saying "Thats a dog!" He cracks me up constantly and literally talks all day!! There are quiet periods of about 1/2 hour about 3 times a day. Other than that he pretty much has something to say from dawn to dusk!! I love it, he is such an entertaining companion!!
  15. Hey Cheshire Cat, I'm right there with ya & the others about being gaa gaa over your bird!! I've had Biscotti a little more than a year now & I am still as excited & amazed every day. I feel so blessed to have his wonderful little birdy soul in my life! I too will talk about him until my friends eyes glaze over ( which is not long for "non-bird" people ). Like you said, that is why this forum is so great- because we all "get it".!
  16. Cute! Love the messy beak, Biscotti also loves his corn.
  17. Very cute pictures! She seems to be a very content little Yoshi!
  18. That is too cute!! Remind me of Laurel & Hardy!! Lol. I have to agree with luvparrots, that high squeeky voice....... my dog actually got up from a sound sleep to see what that noise was, she thought we had been invaded by aliens!!
  19. Beautiful pictures, as always. Thanks for sharing these!
  20. Biscotti is a pretty strange name for an African grey! Long story.
  21. Very cute video! Ana Grey may have a new favorite swimmin' hole! Thanks for sharing.
  22. Glad to hear all the lab work was normal. Sounds like you are really trying everything, I hope he quits the plucking soon. Thanks for the update!
  23. Tui is a beautiful bird!! How lucky for him to have found you, looks like a wonderful set up! Ziggy's a cutie too! Love the name, I had a dog named Ziggy. Thanks for sharing!
  24. Lol, I don't know if it's intelligence or not, most likely just plain old determination!! Here is a pic of the way I "fixed" his buffet ball & platter. I just switched it to a kabob I got from Drs Foster & Smith. It is all stainless steel, he has not figured out how to get the "nut" off of this one!
  25. Hey Stephen & all the others that have posted with similar problems, I too can commiserate with you all! Biscotti is doing just about exactly the same type behaviors for the same reasons listed. Lol, must be very normal young grey behavior. Biscotti has lost shoulder privleges for the very reason you are describing. Thanks, but my ears are already pierced! He is terrible if the phone rings & I answer it when he is out of his cage, he no longer has my undivided attention & he is letting me know! I get fly by head bombings & some times he will grab my hair in the back & swing off it like it's a rope vine! And yes, getting him in the cage for time outs during these episodes leads to severe biting, he has drawn blood several times. So, I try the ignore or redirect practice & it mostly works UNLESS I get distracted & as Dan said I'm not paying attention to where he is flying & just what he is up to. So, I guess we are all in this together I am so glad we can compare notes & reap the knowledge of the others who have been there, done that. Thank you all immensely.
