Awww, so sweet!! Look like beautiful, healthy babies.
-
That's the sound!! Sounds like a quite version compared to the one Biscotti let's out! I love your set up, and Slater is a beautiful bird!!
-
Biscotti does this pretty much every day, particularly in the evenings. He will hang upside down on one of the toys on his play stand & scream bloody murder!! Then he will fly up to the perch and let out a raucous laugh and say "koo, koo parrot!" I love it!!!
-
Lol, way to go Marcus!! Isn't it great to hear their input!!! The "normal" people have no clue of the fun they are missing out on not sharing their lives with a menagerie !!!
-
Ray, sounds like Corky & Smokey have a good relationship!! Biscotti will also call the dogs by name & whistle for them. He will tell them "good dog" or "bad dog" according to his mood. When Mandy goes to the front door he says "Mandys gotta go pee!", and if he thinks they have alarm barked too long he will tell them "that's enough!". The dogs totally ignore him.
-
Mandy is a rottie, she is 9 1/2. I also have a German Shorthair who is 13. Biscotti & the dogs are never out at the same time, just too risky. Things can go bad too quick!
-
As usual my animals keep me very entertained. Just heard this encounter between Biscotti & Mandy, the dog. Mandy went over to hoover around Biscotti's cage for any tidbits he may have thrown out, well she was so busy she didn't notice Biscotti had gone down to the bottom of his cage to watch her. When Mandy looked up & realized she was being watched and had been caught she gave Biscotti a "woof"! He promptly called her a dork & went back up to his perch! It cracked me up!! These animals are so funny, can't imagine a life without them.

If you could choose between a boy or girl CAG
chelseaB replied to GT_Jacket's topic in The GREY Lounge
When I was getting my bird, I had a choice of 2. The breeder thought they where 1 male & 1 female. I was leaning toward the female when they were very young, but as they got a little older the other (male) picked me. When I say picked me, I mean he loved to hang with me when I visited & would have spent the whole day with me if I stayed! So we picked each other. By the way when they were dna'd the breeder was right on her sex guesses! Pretty good! -
Biscotti started talking around 7 mo. His first words, "What cha' doin?" It has been non stop since then, he just turned 2 & has quite a vocabulary.
-
Rose, how is Tumba doing? Please keep us posted, we worry about all our grey friends!

Update on Eshe and reflections on bird ownership.

Glad to hear things are going well with Eshe, she sounds like such a joy! You both are lucky to have found each other. -
What time does your rooster....errr...parrot wake up?
chelseaB replied to Mama CJ's topic in The GREY Lounge
Biscotti is like most of the others, he starts talking around 6:00 am in the summer- later in the winter with the sunrise. He usually starts with a soft "hello?, hello?", gradually getting louder. He then starts going through his whole vocab when I get up & open his window shade so he can look outside. Biscotti doesn't get covered at night. I am a morning person so his wake up time is perfect!! I think by covering them at night you can make some adjustments to their wake up time. -
That is really strange. It must feel so strange around your home having him behave so unusually. I know if Biscotti stopped talking I would be totally freaked & he is only two! Did the avian vet have any other suggestions? Maybe an x-ray or something? I know you are very concerned, I hope he is just having a silent period & returns to his normal self very soon! Welcome to the forums, I hope you will continue to post - you must have a lot of experience & stories to share having owned a grey for 20 years! P.S. I am also a grey & dog lover from Stanislaus County!!
-
Biscotti does that too! He takes great pleasure in attacking & screaming at those little downey feathers when then become airborne!! Such silly parrots!
-
AW, so sweet! As judygram has said, enjoy the cuddliness! Biscotti doesn't like to cuddle anymore, just a good scritch is all he cares for anymore. Keep us posted with the wonderful pic's of sweet little Mojo!
-
Biscotti says thanks Malikah and judygram!! And he said he would be happy to share fries with Kito- just don't try to touch the toy!!
-
Biscotti makes my day everyday just by being his wonderful self. True to cartoon character, I swear he has an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. Which one will win out is always a toss up! He has literally made me drop my jaw in amazement & in exasperation. If he a "a specialness", I would say it has to be his way with words! He loves to talk, and talks most of the day- it is uncanny how quickly he picks up words/phrases. He just turned 2 yesterday and I believe he knows over 200 words. I am going to try and count & update his page on the vocab. thread. Biscotti has quite a sense of humor, he is very fond of his BRPTTT!! "Who did that?" routine, just like a young child. He has a great huge laugh that never fails to make me laugh right along with him. It is the whole crazy package that makes Biscotti so special to me. Can you tell, I Love my special grey??? LOL
-
Biscotti says thank you luvparrots & Eshana! And Eshana, as a typical 2 yr old he was more interested in the box & toy!!
-
Biscotti celebrated his 2nd bird-day in great birdy style!! Can't believe my little boy is 2 already!
-
Happy happy birdday Josey!! Hope your mom gets you some special treats for your big #5 !!!
-
Ahhh, what a sweet pretty baby Dougal is!! Thanks for sharing these great pics!!
-
Yeah Gabby!! It is so exciting to hear that first word! She will be surprising you with new stuff all the time, they are like little sponges taking everything in. Congratulations!!
-
I too agree with you all, there is a whole lot going on in those little birdy minds. I have been around all sorts of different animals large & small all my life and always enjoyed just watching them & learning their different behaviors. My dogs watch me a lot, I believe they wonder what I am going to do & want to make sure they will be a part of whatever that might be- but I don't think they are too interested in exactly what I am doing at any given time as long as they are in my presence. NEVER before getting Biscotti have a felt that I was the one being watched & studied! It does cause goosebumps ( as MarcusCAG said ) when Biscotti looks me right in the eye----- I swear he is reaching into my soul! How awesome to be able to share our lifes with these wonderful intelligent little creatures. I feel so blessed to have Biscotti in my life.
