Yeah Sam!! I bought Biscotti a really cool foot toy a couple weeks ago & he was really scared of it. I just left it sitting on the counter where he could see it & finally after about 2 weeks he realized it was a fun toy. He is now in the process of destroying it! He also has one of those pine blocks, for some reason he was not scared of that- I pushed whole almonds into the holes so he could work on getting them out. I believe they have this cautious nature their whole life so you always have to introduce new toys ( and perches, feeders etc...) very slowly.

Way to go Gilbert!! Biscotti is particularly fond of "butt trumpeting" and also "ahoo chooo" followed by loud laughter. Gotta love these boys! Katana, Biscotti will sucker me in for a pet and then turn it into a bite fairly often- I think this is just the way they are. He has drawn blood many times and has become a non-shoulder bird since he was about 13 mo old. Just can't help himself from reaching around for an ear or cheek pinch. I am becoming much more attuned to his body language to avoid the biting, he is very, very subtle and you really have to learn to see some of his warnings of being in a bitey mood. Or maybe I am not very intuned, I have spent my life dealing with much larger animals & I believe they are much easier to read!

I am really enjoying hearing what Gilbert is coming up with! It is amazing how these words & phrases keep popping up, it's like he came to you "layered" and is removing one layer at a time. Such a complex little brain, the memory is incredible! So glad to hear he is beginning to enjoy playing and has discovered pine nuts are good! Keep the wonderful updates coming.

Biscotti is 2, I've had him since he was 12 weeks old.

Biscotti is only 2 and he will try to do the same thing. I just do as Judygram said when he wants to get all lovey like that. He has been trying a lot lately, Spring is in the air!

XxExoticPsychExX I am only playing with Biscotti about the "steak & potato's", I don't actually feed him that! But he does love his peanut butter, just a dab now and then.

In the morning when I am preparing Biscotti's vegetables I talk to him about it, what I am cutting etc.. Sometimes I ask him if he would like his vegetables or steak & potato's for breakfast. He is able to say both, "vegetables" & "steak & potato's" and says them frequently in & out of context. Well, this morning when we were talking & I asked what he wanted he said--- "steak and peanut butter!! " Cracked me up, I love the way he combines his words sometimes. So much fun!!

OMG, they are adorable! What is the top one going to be? Fischers? I love lovebirds!

Lol, I'm afraid Biscotti has that affliction too!! When he doesn't want to step off my hand onto his perch!! Yes, those nails are terrible! His aren't long but man can he clamp them down tight!! Ouch.

No Twix he doesn't stop! He will go on for hours, I love it!!

So wonderful !! Issac is a very willing student, sweet! I know what you mean about concentrating- when ever I say a word Biscotti doesn't already know but he likes the sound of, he will stop whatever he is doing and look right into my eyes just waiting for me to repeat it. It is an awesome feeling when they concentrate so hard like that. Keep us posted on Issacs growing vocabulary!

Congratulations! You will have a wonderful time with little DJ, I'm sure he will come around slowly- yesterday was a pretty eventful day for the little tyke and what ever the vet gave him/her may have him/her feeling a little off. Go slowly & he/she will quickly realize what a wonderful home he/she now has!! Enjoy your new baby, so happy you have another grey in your life.

How exciting! The wait is going to seem like forever. My visits with Biscotti when he was a baby at his breeders are some of my favorite memories!
