  1. That is so sweet!! Biscotti once looked me right in the eye and said "Mommys a good bird." I just melted. Aren't they just the most amazing creatures! We are so lucky to have them in our lives.
  2. Lol chezron! Biscotti is just like Brutus!! Very loud & sometimes so funny when practicing new words. I love to hear him work on new words, then he seems so proud when he gets it right. Usually when he works hard on a word & finally gets it right it will become his new "favorite word" for a short while.
  3. Hey, it's Biscotti here. We have one of those dang noisy machines here too! I hate that thing -my mommy bird pulls it out & I run to the back of my cage & shake. Scares me bad. When the noise is gone & I get my wits about me again I tell my mommy bird "that's a vacuum , makes a big noise!" I don't think she understands because she keeps bringing the d@*$# thing out! Even my dog Mandy hates it, she tries to bite it and kill it but mommy bird tells her "no!" They are just evil noisy machines!
  4. Happy Birdday sweet Ana Grey!! Hope you get your favorite treat today.
  5. She is just beautiful!! Such a precious face. She will learn to land like an ace pilot with practice. I asked the same question when I brought Biscotti home, he was trying to land on picture frames, my head & other very odd places. With practice they become experts! Enjoy your "baby time" with her they are so sweet & cuddly.
  6. So wonderful!! I can't wait to hear stories about Miss Gabby, her luck has turned & I'm sure she is going to be so happy with you.
  7. I was wondering the same thing Sarasota!! Been checking every day for Gilberts DNA results.
  8. That is too cute! Looks like a young bird, he wanted to get that kitten trained right away.
  9. Yeah Tui!! How exciting! Biscotti still is not comfortable talking around other people & he has been talking quite a while. The only time he will talk when others are around is if they spend the night!! I think that's just because he can't hold it any more! He is a chatterbox any other time.
  10. Oh how exciting! Can't wait to hear if Gilbert is a Mr or Ms !!
  11. Way to go Gilbert! Katana all your love & patience with him is being returned in his will to cooperate! I'm sure your remaining calm during the visit helped immensely. What a sweet, sweet boy. Extra almond for him tonight! Hope he passes his vet check with flying colors!
  12. So very sorry, I have just seen your posts. You have taken such good care of him & I understand what a hard decision this has been for you.
  13. I too have just seen your post, so sorry for you & Java. Glad to hear she is feeling a bit perkier. Sending positive thoughts to you, you are such a good parront. I'll be waiting to hear what your vet has to say. Hugs to you & Java ( and Mr. Gilbert too! )
  14. Congratulations on being patient & finding out what works best for Momo! You are doing a wonderful job & your kindness will help you build a strong bond with Momo. Keep up the good work!
  15. I have to admit that I too am an addict. I have boxes & containers full of birdie toys & toy making parts. I have found with Biscotti that he seems to have fads with different things. Beads knotted on leather lacing, birdie bagels ( the 4" are his favorite), the toys that he can destroy like the birdie pinatas and just a plain brown lunch bag with a few assorted things inside that he can "discover" are always favorites. I have found that the toys with big chunks of wood are not too interesting to him. It really varies with each individual bird so you will have fun finding what Zulu's favorites are. Thanks for sharing Garth's memories with us, all of us LOVE our fids and other pets & we "get it". Zulu is one lucky little birdie to be joining you!
  16. How sweet! A baby boy! My baby boy just turned 3, seems like yesterday that I was like you- so excited to be bringing my little guy home. Nice cage & set up for little Zulu, you are going to have a lot of fun. Enjoy the baby days with him, they are so special!
  17. Lol Katana, he was saying that a lot today! But he always says " my name's Biscotti bird" so I think he really does know that is his "official" name, but he does respond to all his nicknames also. They are just too smart. Yes, Gilbert is grande for sure!
  18. Cute! Healthy, happy birds! Thanks for sharing.
  19. Ray,there is an aviary like that at a zoo in California too. My dad & I went a couple years ago, would love to go back. They are absolutely beautiful! But very messy. Looks like the Lori in this video is wanting some of that OJ! I sure wouldn't rough house with my grey like that, I'd need a lot of band aids.
  20. These posts are great! Biscotti calls me mommy or mommy bird He calls Mandy the dog by her name Mandy or Boo, and if he's mad at her he calls her dork He is still calling for our other dog Annie that passed away 6 months ago He has not yet called my new puppy Tucker by name, I want to make sure he gets that pronounced right!
  21. How exciting! I bet you will be hearing words in no time.
  22. Haha, very funny Gracie! They do seem to be very good at getting the last word in!
  23. I thought the same thing when I read "Mistypie"! Biscotti get called- Cott, Cott-Cott, Cotty , Biscott, Cotter, Cotter-Ree, Mr. Biscott, Cotty Watty & Cot Parrott (Wow, I didn't realize I called him so many names!)
  24. Interesting thoughts Talon! I have both also, have had horses for 40+ years, owning a cattle ranch they are a necessity. I have a mare who I purchased as a 2 yr old who is now 29yrs old & is still a very useful team member here! She was diagnosed with navicular disease at 9 yrs old & I was told that she might have 4 more useful years. Well, 20 yrs later she is still going strong! Thanks to excellent farrier skills ( $$$$ ) she is very comfortable drug free. I agree, their behaviors are very similar to greys, but I think that with time the horses become much more predictable. Since Biscotti is my first grey, I don't have a lot of comparison but his body language seems much more subtle than the horses or actually his behavior reminds me of a young colt who hasn't been handled much. Could be that I am still learning to "read" grey parrot.
  25. Love the name! Don't freak out, all the pieces will fall into place & Jake will be come into your home at just the right time! I did the same thing & had my carpets cleaned a week or two before I brought Biscotti home, they haven't been cleaned since! You are going to have so much fun with baby Jake!
