  1. So sweet to hear them practicing their voice No, you will not be begging him to be quiet- you will love listening to all the words he will learn, it will amaze you!
  2. Be safe Dee, Gilbert & crew. Can't wait to hear how Gilbert likes the reunion with his extended family.
  3. This is great, so smart to start off the harness when they are young! Shelby is adorable!!
  4. This is where Biscotti learned "that's a big cow- moooo" He loves looking out the window at the cattle
  5. He has added black-eyed peas & garbonzos!! In this clip he adds the garbonzos the second time he talks about vegetables. The garbonzos is pretty new, it cracks me up when he says it.
  6. Ok, I set the camera up by Biscotti's cage this morning & then promptly forgot! So I got 17 minutes of Biscotti rambling Here is shortened clip from the video for those of you wanting to hear from Biscotti!
  7. http://www.blurb.com/b/4361582-book-of-felix For anyone interested: Here is the link to purchase "The Book of Felix" , this is from Everything Birds that does the great picture with the greys observations on life. I just purchased the e-book, the pics look great, high quality- can't wait to read it!
  8. Oh Gilbert! Love the "Good Lord" !! Biscotti says "quiet, that's enough" in a very serious, stern tone & it cracks me up because he is usually very bubbly. I know it is my voice quieting the dogs barking, but it is really funny to hear how I sound sometimes!! It must be a real gas to hear the things Gilbert is spouting out now in different voices. God love him.
  9. He is really getting big, and so adorable! I remember when Biscotti was his age, so, so sweet. He did the exploratory finger chomping also and like you I just redirected his beak some where else. By the time he came home he really didn't even do it any more. I was very lucky to get Biscotti's breeder to NOT clip his wings, every time I visited him she would ask me & I told her no, I do not want him clipped. She would look at me like I was kinda nuts & said she never sent a baby home unclipped. Thankfully she complied with my wishes. When is Thane coming home? You are going to have so much fun with him, enjoy his cuddly babyhood!
  10. Biscotti sends his thanks to everyone for the wonderful bird day wishes! He's had a delightful day that included his beloved peanut butter and a favorite blackberry! And of course a nice "package" to shred to his little grey hearts desire. I do need to take more videos, and yes Dee his laughter & silliness make my world a much better place! <3
  11. My dear boy is 4 years old today!! In some ways it seems like just yesterday that I got him & in others it seems like he has been here forever I love him to pieces & can't imagine life without him! Happy Bird Day Biscotti Bird!!
  12. Another great pic from Everything Birds I have to say, I immediately though of Dee's dear Gilbert! <3
  13. He sure is a cutie!
  14. Awww, this post made me smile just thinking how comfortable Gilbert must be feeling You have done such an amazing job with him Dee.
  15. This really made me smile, Escher is going to really keep you entertained! Ordering the dogs around & blowing raspberries are 2 of Biscotti's favorite thing! Don't you just love what they choose to repeat? Can't wait to hear what Escher comes up with next!
  16. Poor baby, Biscotti still does not like the vacuum, I have to put him in his cage or he will panic fly. I always warn him before I turn it on. Now he says "that's a vacuum, make a big noise. Don't be scared baby bird", but he still does get scared. I just try & talk to him while I am vacuuming, hoping one day it won't frighten him.
  17. What a beautiful, sweet baby! You are going to have so much fun with him/her!! Can't wait to hear what sex it is
  18. This topic has always weighed on my mind, I refer to myself as being on the wrong side of 50. I know Biscotti and I may have several decades together, but as many of us have experienced , you just don't know what turn your life may take. At this time I honestly do not know of anyone I would entrust with Biscotti's well being. None of my family members would give him the love & care he deserves, they are just not parrot people. Hopefully one day Biscotti will take a shine to some one who could turn out to be his next guardian, if the time comes. As for now, I think I will give instructions that if something happens to me, my family will post on the forum that Biscotti needs a new caregiver & that someone who knows greys will take him & keep him or find a suitable home for him. I suppose a rescue would be a last resort. It is sad to think about, but necessary. I hope everyone has many more years with their fids.
  19. I love all these nicknames! Biscotti doesn't get called by his real name very often, it's usually Cott, or Cott-Cott. He also get's called Cotter & Cotteree. When he is getting into trouble it's Parrot or Mister. Some times when he is being particularly obnoxious, I will say "I'm gonna whip your Cotteree Mister!!" Now HE says that when he is getting into trouble, then he laughs. If you ask him his name he will say, "I'm Biscotti Bird."
  20. Yes, I like the cat purring similarity. It is not annoying at all Nancy and really enjoyable to hear because you know your bird is happy & content.
  21. She is beautiful!! Looks so happy & well adjusted to her new home, you are going to have so much fun with her
  22. So sorry, they all take up residence in our heart when they join our lives and it hurts so much when they must go. RIP Francis.
  23. I too love to hear them laugh & Biscotti has a great sense of humor & laughs often, usually at himself!
