Awww, he is so sweet! He looks like he really does want to fly, maybe still just a little unsure of his new environment. Biscotti uses the word "hi" when he is nervous, sounds like maybe Pepper does too. He will be getting more & more comfortable shortly, be prepared for that flight!!

Hello, welcome you have come to the right place to learn & share about your beautiful grey Neptune! I also have a grey that is just over a year old, I've had him since he was 12 weeks. How long have you had Neptune? Do you have other birds/pets? He looks like a charming fellow, post more pic's when you can!

I designed an album ( binder ) on Zazzle for the purpose of creating a life story for Biscotti that will include lots (LOTS :0) of photos, his dna certificate, medical history, vocabulary, favorite activites, etc., etc... In the event that he should out live me , it will be passed on to his next guardian. In the event that I should out live him , it will be a wonderful diary of our shared time together. I have added a couple pic's, it is a nice large size that will hold 8 1/2" x 11" sheets. I have had good luck designing things on Zazzle, they always seem to do a good job with prompt service.

I am surrounded by almond orchards & they are harvesting right now, I collect them for Biscotti (have to beat the dogs to them! ) he loves them & has no trouble opening them himself. There are hard shelled varieties & softer shelled varieties. He has no trouble opening either one. I do have to crack walnuts for him though. The dogs also crack them & then eat them but they usually come out the same way they went in! Lots of roughage. lol.

Judy, they have an exhibit they bring in from May thru Sept., then they move them to FL for the winter. I am going to go again next year! Azzie, how many do you have? Do you keep them indoors or out? In a group they were very noisy, how are they at home? I would LOVE to have a big enclosure like the zoo has, it is so awesome to go in and just be with the birds!!

Yesterday my dad and I made a trip to the zoo to see the Lorikeet exhibit. They are absolutely beautiful!! There were 53 of them in this awesome enclosure and you could go in and give them nectar. They are super friendly, amazing little clowns! We had a great time, my dad shares my passion for birds Yes guys, I stripped & clothes went straight to the washer & I showered before getting anywhere near Biscotti & I told my dad to do the same when he got home! Here are a few pic's, I have a few short videos I will post when I get them edited.

This is a great idea meine!! BISCOTTI is a California boy, he is 15 mo old & dna'd male. I have know Biscotti since he was just a couple weeks old & visited him at his breeders regularly until I brought him home at around 12 weeks old. He would be voted as "class clown" for sure! He loves to talk and is already gathering quite a vocabulary. His favorite foods are grapes, blueberries, sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, black eyed peas, corn & of course nuts & seeds which he only gets limited amounts of. His favorite toys are foraging type that he can work on destroying to get goodies! He loves flying around the house and screaming like a pterodactyl!! I have owned, loved & been passionate about all kinds of animals/birds all my life, but Biscotti is truly unique. I have never had the feeling around other animals that THEY were actually studying me! Biscotti can look right into my face ( with one eye ) and it feels like he is searching deep into my soul, hard to explain. I feel truly blessed to have his little presence in my life.

Hi Karkar, welcome! How wonderful to have a 16 yr old that you have had since a baby! And congrats on the new addition, I have had my baby just 1 year & can't imagine life without him now. You have joined a wonderful group of very helpful, knowledgeable grey lovers who are more than willing to share. Please post some pic's when you can!

Thanks for sharing this great story. It always renews my faith in people to see someone willing to "go the extra mile" to help a creature in such a terrible situation. Also so wonderful that she is giving back now by bringing joy & hope to people!

I have the medium pak-o-bird for Biscotti, it seems to work fine for him. It is a nice size & pretty comfortable to pack around. I think it is good for short excursions, vet visits etc.. I also have a larger travel cage in case of emergency or for an extended trip.

Yeah Jasper!! Funny how they zero in on the head- nice high landing spot! Biscotti did that alot too when he was little, then he switched to a shoulder approach.
