Well, I have now decided that I have an incredibly over-clever CAG. Mine knows the days of the week! Last Sunday was the last time Harvey bit me, or refused to step up. He has been an absolute angel all week.....until yesterday. It seems Harvey knows that Saturday and Sunday is the weekend - and this is when he can assert his authority. I was going out yesterday and went through the same routine and sustained a couple of real bites. He's doing the same this morning. I needed to pop out and asked him to step up - he bit me and actually held on, so now I have a couple of nice deep purple marks on my hands. Let's see what Monday brings!

I will add to what Talon said as well (and it's not in relation to what Rudysmom posted) - that some people on here don't have English as their first language, or perhaps aren't as good as forming the English language as me - but I tell you what - all I can speak is English - so I take my hat off to anyone who can speak more than one - and enough to come and post on a clearly "English speaking" forum. We have members from all over the world - and I'm not even going to try Arabic, Cantonese, Spanish or Mandarin! Whoops - edited to add "mmm, whilst sipping a nice glass of Californian Chardonnay"<br><br>Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/03/27 18:59

I would wait until you see how Rudy progresses as they change so much (as I have recently discovered). Harvey at the moment is a nightmare - and I couldn't even dream of bringing another grey into my home (be it a Timneh or a Congo). When they are under a year old they are lovely babies - but sharp progress swiftly to the "teenage stage". I would have thought when Harvey was 10 months that I could have had two - but not now!!!

Who are Your Pet Careproviders at Vacation Time???
JillyBeanz replied to Luvparrots's topic in Off-Topic Discussions
My parents have Harvey in their home. So far they have had him for two weeks last summer and two weekends when we were away. Although he doesn't have the freedom he has in our home, they do let him out in the mornings and evenings (when they are both there - for added security!!!). I'm also "babysitting" one of our member's babies when they go on holiday - so I'll be able to give you the perspective from both sides of the fence  -
Ha Ha Ha! Excellent Lyn - what a sweetie! Next I want to hear "I'm going to make me some waffles" in the style of Donkey from Shrek!!
-
Great news Sheila - finally light at the end of a long tunnel. I'm so happy to hear that things have turned out well after the anaesthetic too. Charlie will be so pleased to see you too.

Well, having received the call from Green Peace I thought I would head out and save some more worms. I took the day off work, packed my sandwiches, flask and kagoul and took off over the pavements of Northumberland to save the worm population. I guess this one didn't want to be save:

I've just been watching a comedy show from here in the UK and have nearly peed myself laughing! Great American news story from October last year.....! These two guys were stopped after a robbery! When officers looked inside the 1994 Buick Roadmaster, they were surprised to find the men with masks, beards and moustaches painted on their face in some sort of rudimentary disguise. The funniest bit though IT WAS PERMANENT MARKER!!! God bless you America!!!!!<br><br>Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/03/26 21:36

Jeez Louise! You lot put me to shame - I'm having a nervous breakdown with one non-human in the house - more than that I think I'd need valium to help me through the day! I best start knocking together an Ark - which I'll send through Amtrak just in case there's a heavy storm over there.......

Fingers crossed this lady will get to the bottom of the problem and that you get him home soon, problem solved

These are absolutely beautiful! What a totally different type of posting! Karma to you Jill - I love flowers. Isn't Texas just desert and cacti? Ha Ha - only joking! These are gorgeous - I've been sitting clicking them for the last 10 minutes!!
-
Chris you are so brave - I wouldn't do that in a zillion years - a trim is all I'm committing myself to! I'm afraid I would be with Butch on the panicking scenario! When there was any dramas with the kids when they were little I was as cool as a cucumber - but animals - NO WAY!

SunnyBird wrote: Well Renate, here in the UK our worms smile - you just tickle their middle and one end laughs - even when in a serious, life threatening situation (such as being puddle-bound). Actually - he popped by this evening to say thank you - and was pleased to pose for a picture:

Are Atoms a hit with everyone?
JillyBeanz replied to jessdecutie18's topic in Homemade Toys & Playstands
I would LOVE to get Harvey an atom - but we can't get them in the UK - and I asked about shipping from a company last year and was quoted £70! Harvey would love one! I'm green with envy that you are even able to contemplate it!!! -
Harvey's favourite place is the windowsill in the study and last summer there was a moth fluttering around the window - it was TINY, but the beast within thought better - and ate it - wings and all! Nothing like a good bit of protein when no chicken is available
-
Harvey has roughly the same as Dan gives Dayo - apart from I mix his seed and pellets together. He has a separate bowl for his veggies and also his veggie kebab on some days, just to vary things. I put "drier" veggies in his cage during the day (carrots, peas, green beans etc) as they are less likely to "turn" whilst I am at work, and at night when I come home he has his bowls on his java tree with pellets, seed, mushy bean mix and wetter veggies (peppers, tomatoes etc). Once he's out of his cage when I am home I remove all the food substances, clean his cage out and just use his stand for his food source. I empty the bowl about twice per evening too - just to get rid of the "waste".
-
Palm nuts are the best invention since the wheel! Harvey now chews through the skin and flesh, tosses it away and heads for the nut itself. He sits for ages chewing it until he either breaks it, or realises it aint going to happen! This is how Harvey prefers to eat his palm oil: and this is peace perfect peace:

I don't need wings, I am already an angel.......

Okay then - I'll 'fess up - I'm not saving Pandas - but I did save two earth worms this morning! It has been pelting down with rain here overnight and all the little wiggly woos were on the pavement - there were two who had crawled into a puddle at the bottom of my drive - so I lifted them out, gave them CPR and placed them on the grass verge. SAVED! This is actually a true story - I do save worms on a regular basis
-
Thanks everyone - and as for you Jane......! He's very happy that I've taken it out and isn't actually trying to chew the bit left under his wing - I think he's quite happy to let it just drop out too
-
Thanks Dan - this is something that has made me smile. You are right that the joys outweigh the dramas and I really must focus on those at the moment. I knew the biting would come, I knew I would find it hard (I can't stand rejection, no matter what the situation)and I just felt an absolute failure I think I shall take myself away from the situation and leave him to cool down, and not fight with him (I am very bloody minded too - and like Judy said I am very strong willed and therefore this is probably my downfall too). Fingers crossed I don't taste too good this week and he moves onto something else
-
Yay! I'm going to be a mammy again!!! Oh Dave, thank you so much - I've had withdrawal! That Gonzo has some stamina! Can't wait to watch the dramas unfold. Thank you again ~ and karma to you for letting us into this precious insight and blocking your web camera again

Hey! What's this - the Parrot Dating Thread! There's a sticky somewhere I've read about flirting in the IM window - I think Spock, Pookie and Ana Grey best get Jay & Janet & Jill to read them it (ha ha - all the Js)! Harvey says Spock that it's a waste of time trying to mind meld my brain - he may be grey, but my grey matter isn't up to much!! Keep up your blog Spock baby - we love you
