That's what I like - straight in on the junk food! Go Hawkins - it'll be McDonald next!!! I didn't know about tapioca either - not something I would eat anyway, but know to avoid in the future!
-
I notice how we've all missed the MAJOR point here! Kim's always known what the vacuum is for, and Dayo has just learned what it is for, so - what about you Dan? Come on, show us how it's done

I'm sorry Dee, I do think Harvey has had a word with Kopi to inform him of the parrot bad behavior book!! It's so funny (well, actually, no it isn't) when they change like Jekyll and Hyde! If I'd known what I know now there would be no Harvey - he'd definitely be called Jekyll!!

I've come to browse the forum, but Harvey is getting on my last nerve! He just won't behave! He keeps jumping on the door, trying to chew the door frame. I have managed to type about three words with the constant shifting him from the door, to the desk, only for him to chew the phone, mouse (you all have one, you know). I've tried distracting him, but nothing works! Until now......! Yes, I have gone mad, but click on this link and choose one of the songs on the right - watch your bird just stop! Harvey has sat, listening intently for the last 10 minutes!!! It's like hypnotism!!!! http://www.parrot-bird.com/happy-parrot-music.html I am the music man, I come from down your way!!!!

Ooooh, what dress shall I wear!!! Number 1 all the way (oh, how shallow am I?) You're on a bus and that moment of wind takes over. The smell is dreadful. Do you: 1. Be the first to comment on the "awful smell" 2. Stick your head in a magazine and hope nobody comments. 3. Wait until someone else makes the first comment and then look at the most "obvious" man sitting nearest you.

My Grey can toss broccoli further than your grey.

How lovely that Hawkins is home! It's the day you have waited for, with anticipation, for so long and now that it's here you will hardly be able to believe he's home! He's gorgeous! He looks so settled and happy! Can't wait to see his progression through the months

I tell you what Jess, I am willing to try ANYTHING to get Harvey back in his harness. He was absolutely fabulous in it last summer - he would let me just put it on him and away we went, but I've been trying for the last four weeks to get it on him and no way is he going to let me. It's such a shame, as he was hardly in the house last summer, but doesn't look like he's going anywhere this year. Thanks for that tip, karma to you - whether it works or not!!! I'm willing to try anything!!!
-
It sounds like great fun - but don't the parrots try and eat the butterflies? Harvey ate a moth on the window last year - so I'd be worried about him eating the incredulously rare butterfly, rather than bullying the other birds!! As for a meet here Lyn - patch up the holes in the barn and I'll be on my way

Sorry I missed this Precious! Hope you were spoiled rotten!
-
Check her working the camera! You can tell she's a girl - check that pose! Thanks for sharing these lovely pictures of her

Chris - I am so sorry to hear about you two - but you obviously thought long and hard about your decision to go your own way, of course with Talula. We're always here to help keep your spirits up, and I hope you parted on good terms so that you can check up on Phoenix's progress. Keep your chin up

Ha Ha! I'd give Harvey 10 minutes until he was sitting back in the living room! All the time and effort into making that would be ruined! Thanks for this Jess!

Are Atoms a hit with everyone?

My goodness! How talented are you lot - I missed the replies to the rest of this thread! Check you lot out - I wouldn't stand a chance (and mine would have to match my decor!!) Can't wait to see if either Alfie or Anna Grey decides to try them out!!!! -
It's supper time! Tobie is sooooo sweet Jan! Clear as a bell. Thanks for sharing this

Michael's input to all of this is "As humans, we are at the top of the food chain"! Just me veggie Julie - have been since I was 12. I don't mind handling or preparing meat - I don't share my views with anyone about eating meat. It is a personal decision and people are still surprised when they find out I am vegetarian as I have been told on numerous occasions "Eeh, I'm surprised - you don't look like one"!!!! What's that supposed to mean!!!!

.....and hence I am a vegetarian!

Ryan - I am sure Harvey recites "War & Peace" when I'm not around - well, that's what I am convincing myself to believe anyway! I'm sure there's some non-speaking English person pops around when I'm not in - because the mumbo jumbo that comes out of Harvey's beak is amazing! Harvey's nearly 16 months old now - and prefers to mimick than talk - although I think we might be getting there! Just hang in there - I'm sure Paco will be just fine

judygram wrote: But it'll be another year before April Fools Day - perhaps I should develop a monthly posting, but in any of the rooms to try and catch you out! Hey, after all, we can all be fools any time of the year
-
That's fab Lyn - especially noting the problems that you and Alfie have had along the way! To get to that point with her must have been such a happy time for you. Perhaps you are "stealing" her affection from David now!!
-
Julie - calm down, it was only a joke (I definitely don't fall into the category of a child, so perhaps simple minded)! I sharp noticed the mistake when I picked the wrong one up from the breeders and it started "cooing" and kept flying out the door to a shed 100 miles away. It was then I returned and got the parrot.

We didn't need a vet to assure us you were a good parront - we knew it all along Great news that both are coming along well - and you must be so ecstatic about Beau's weight gain. I'm sure Dr Jose will sort his wings out - if it's not one thing it's another for poor Beau. Thanks for the update ~ great to hear things are going well

Well, you lot are far too clever - it was of course an April's Fool! Why oh why does nobody believe a word I say!!!! I thought the abbreviations of the club that Brian belonged to might give it away Mind you, I'm thinking of the magenta if it ever does come on the market

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/04/02 11:29

I receive a monthly newsletter and this month it discusses the relative "drabness" of the African Grey - excerpt as follows: "The African Grey is a colourless bird, which shows little in the way of beauty in comparison to that of a Macaw or Amazon Parrot. African Grey parrot owners do not appreciate when they purchase such specimens that the visual aspect of a grey is often overlooked in the early months, until after the baby flees the nursery at one year old. Owners often realise at this point that the African Grey is one of the most unattractive birds to buy out there on the open market, and are often compared to pigeons" It goes on a little further but then: "One way of overcoming this problem has been developed by Brian Edmunds, of the Parrot Entertainment News In Summary Club of Southern Australia. Brian has devised feather colouring kits that can be applied to the African Grey in order that they can be more attractive to the human eye. Kits include dye, gloves and comb in order to target the specific areas chosen" It then goes on with the sales pitch: "Colours include, Pink, Cyan, Turquoise, Magenta, Lime Green and Florentine Red, one colour is 15 dollars". I am not sure whether to order one or not - you have to agree, they are a little "pigeon looking".
