Nope, going abroad - so unfortunately he can't come. My parents will really, really, really look after him and my mam could represent England at the Olympics for talking (mmm, I can see where I get it). He will be fed, watered and talked to, just not allowed out. I don't blame them at all. I am loathed to let him out when he's biting - and he doesn't always bite me - just everyone else all of the time. I really hope he is okay.

I know we have visited this many times before - I did this time last year and all was fine, but this year when we go on holiday I know Harvey will definitely remain in his cage for the full two weeks. As you know - he is going through "that" stage and basically nobody but me (and obviously sometimes not me) can handle him. I cannot expect my parents to succumb to bites - I put up with them, but they shouldn't have to. Last year he was just a baby - he went in and out no problem for them, but this year they will not stand a chance. How detrimental will this be to him? My mam doesn't work, so will be in all day, every day - so he'll actually have more company than he has here, but obviously no "out" time. I am worried sick that he will start plucking. I can't put my life on hold for Harvey - it needs to be done, but until he will let other people handle him, he'll have to stay put.

Harvey will tolerate the shower (I think I showered him on day 2 of bringing him home) but HATES with a passion the spray bottle! I have to shower him in the bathroom first, then put him in his cage, where he can't escape to mist him with aloe - it's like a comedy turn in our house - my friends can't believe what I go through with a bird!

Can someone please, please explain why the US won't import Palm Nuts? They are round little nuts, as the name describes! If it's political, don't worry - I won't expect an explanation - but if it's importation laws due to something else, I am really interested. Thanks in advance x

Cucumbers have absolutely no nutritional value to either us or our fids. They are just full of water! Needless to say, in my quest for size 0 I have been eating 200 of them a day ;)

......and that's just me! Harvey is moulting and scratching, and itching and the dander - the duster now cowers in the cleaning cupboard as it knows it is coming out again! The Dyson has a fine film of white dust in the "bagless" chamber and the TV has a white sprinkling constantly over the screen. The joys of owning an African Grey........... :rolleyes:

Oh Spock, poor Jay & Maggie's lives aren't going to be too quiet when you two get going round the house!! You are such a little stinker! Mind you, I would watch that big white thing - they are bigger and bossier than you - keep an eye out! Great action shot of you and Joey though - great to see you getting on so well.

I bought one of those "Magic Bullets" from "Selly Telly" a couple of years ago - I find it great to pulverise fresh spinach leaves, and find Harvey eats them far easier than the leaves etc. It's a great idea to pulp them. I agree with all about the beauty of Sachi - what absolute gorgeous colours.

Any update on this baby Debbie? Have they found him yet?

I am starting to wonder whether Harvey will ever accept his harness again. He was downright vicious at the weekend when I went near him with it, and lunged straight at me. I really, really wish I'd kept putting it on during the winter, but alas, it is too late now. So, top tip - keep putting it on, even if the weather doesn't allow you to take your birdie outside!

Nilah must be such a pleasure! Her vocabulary is astounding - she's only a baby!! I wouldn't be able to enter a room she was in without laughing - she sounds an absolute dream! Get those videos and photos uploaded, I can't wait to see them

They are absolutely beautiful birds - I too love "Amazon of the Week". I read each thread and article intently - and to be honest, if I was thinking about another bird, an Amazon would be top of the list. Thanks Jay - I'll be sad the day we run out (but there's tons left to enjoy)!!

Thanks everyone! Dee - you have reiterated exactly what Michael said. He reckons that once he realises we are outside having fun that he will think over his new found situation and perhaps remember the lovely harness that enabled his freedom last summer - fingers crossed it comes true!
