  1. Ah, Sheila that is soooo cute! I'm guessing that it's Cracker's dinner, but Charlie being the bigger brother isn't having any of it!!! Great photo!
  2. Hi Mae and Obi - Welcome to our family. You can ask as many questions as you want - no questions are deemed "silly" or "stupid" - anyway - the ones that are I will have asked already lol! This place is full of great information to make both your life and Obi's life happy. Please read through the abundance of information - learn all you can to keep Obi safe. We'd love to see some photos too x
  3. They are absolutely fabulous!!! See, everyone can note how much better the quality of photos are here - I'm loving, loving, loving it!!! I love how Sparky's toy is like an accessory - it matches his feathers beautifully!!!
  4. My parrot wears his aviator TWO DAYS IN A ROW much better than yours!
  5. Beautiful! What a gorgeous bird! See - the colours and acuity of the feathers are fab! I love the bright green. Thanks x
  6. So, where do we tuck the money though! Parrot pants! That's what's needed! Go Spock Go - and never mind those two stick in the muds, they'll come around!!!
  7. I can't believe how wonderful this site exhibits photographs! I love looking at them at the best of times on our forum - but this place makes us all look like professionals! Please, please upload some photos ~ honestly, no matter how poor you think you are at taking photos - somehow this forum makes you look like a professional!!!
  8. Thanks guys! The amazing thing is - this site makes them look fabulous - these photos are taken on my phone! I'm going to start a campaign for people to upload their photos - the results are amazing!
  9. How bizarre Judy - I just use photobucket like on the old site, and upload them exactly the same. I know there's others who can't upload full photos either. I wonder why?
  10. Well, it wasn't a flook! I've been in the garden again with Harvey - bit more of a task to put it on (he was jumping out of it and out of the way of me) but no bititing! I do hope we've turned the corner. I'm going to keep putting it on him so that he can "remember" how good it was last year out in the garden!
  11. I've missed this! Each time a new chapter is posted, I return to the start!!! I really enjoy this Dayo - make sure that human slave (the one with the birdy brain according to chelseaB) keeps this Journal going! Thanks Dan - I love it!
  12. Hi Bear - welcome to our family. That is a sad start to life for your baby - but luckily it hasn't been for long and you've got him now. Personally I wouldn't have purchased a bird that wasn't weaned, especially with no experience, but it's done now. Just to reassure you - there are some extremely knowledgeable members of this forum who are breeders who will be along soon to help you out (time difference - this is an international forum) - so don't worry when you don't get an "instant" answer - they're all still in bed! Here in the UK it is illegal to sell unweaned birds - so luckily this decision is taken from our hands Please also go and tell us a bit about yourself in our "Welcome Room" - and photos would be great if you have any (huge hint!!). Once again - welcome to you both x
  13. Hi sinaigem and welcome to our family. African grey parrots are flock birds, and therefore are best at the centre of any family environment. Unfortunately they are not birds that should be kept in an aviary. If she isn't with you and around you she will never get used to you. By keeping her in an aviary she isn't getting the attention that greys need and you are basically keeping her "semi wild". There's no point in getting her a friend if you want her to be a companion parrot - and they won't necessarily be able to share the same area either, you can't just introduce another parrot into your grey's life like that. You really, really need to bring her into your home and let her experience family life. She will never gain your trust otherwise. This is your first step into getting to know her. She needs reassurance that you are there to care for her and you want to look after her. After introduction into the family area you can then look to gaining her trust. African greys aren't meant to live a life alone - they don't in the wild and shouldn't do in captivity either - bring her inside and furnish her with your love, you may then - and only then, begin to gain her trust.
  14. Ha Ha Janet! When you posted this I was already fast asleep!!! I'd done my toasting!
  15. Great shot of Ana Grey - get them posted for all to see!!!
  16. ha ha! Yes dave - we have this thing called the nhs - therefore we can have a rub down with e45 cream whenever needed!! I often order a 45 gallon drum .........!
  17. what absolutely beautiful shots lyn. I have just decorated my dining room and I am looking for a unique canvas for the wall - I think I need to be looking closer to home! Fab - I think these are great x
  18. I don't pay pet insurance as I think that there are too many stipulations, rules and "get out of jail cards" to cover them - that's why I choose not to. In my decision to have a pet, I took vet bills into consideration and know that should anything happen I shall be looking at a hefty sum. I'm in the same mind as Talon - if I don't have the ready cash at the time - the plastic will be hammered. It's a great idea about the savings account though. A small amount soon adds up
  19. I'd love Harvey to swing upside down - he's just started hanging on a wooden toy from his tree, but every time I try to turn him upside down he panics and "beaks" at me to get himself upright again. He doesn't like it! I'd love him to do it too! Every time we see Emma she is upside down - she clearly loves it! Lucky you!!!
  20. Ha Ha! Definitely number 1 - I am so ignorant!!! I can't be bothered with all that "Friends Reunited" rubbish!! You are on your way to a job interview, a job you have been guaranteed is yours - all you have to do is "turn up". It's for big money, job of your dreams, but on the way you come across an African Grey Parrot sitting on a fence, all alone, obviously lost. Do you: 1. Leave the parrot and hurry on to your job interview - it's the rest of your life after all. 2. Attend to the parrot, take it to the nearest police station in order to find the owner. 3. Take the parrot with you to the interview, you can always call it an "ice breaker" and look for the owner later, knowing fine well that the interviewer HATES birds with a passion.
  21. My grey wears his Aviator harness MUCH better than yours!
  22. By far one of the best features here on our new site is the clarity of the photographs! Fantastic. They are so clear, so sharp and show our birds off beautifully. The other good thing about photos on here is that it is EXACTLY the same as round the old place! No need to mess about trying to learn a new trade! Easy as pie through Photobucket! Come on, I want to see some more photos to prove my point!
  23. I never have trouble feeding Harvey spinach - he loves it! I give it to him in leaf form when he's out of his cage, but then whizz it in my "Magic Bullet" (thanks USA for that one on selly telly) to "mulsh" it to mix with his other veggies in his cage - this is obviously "out of cage time".
  24. Cheers Jay! I've posted my first forum photos ~ the beast has been unleashed........!
  25. Hi Esknomoe and Brutus - welcome to your both! Well done to you for taking in an older grey. Brutus will know the ropes and know exactly which strings to pull! He looks very happy and comfortable with you and is probably thanking his lucky stars you found him! I hope you enjoy it here x
