  1. Ha Ha! Way to go Paco!!! That's one way to get shot of the neighbour from hell!!! Not so funny during the night though!! Poor you! Can't wait for the next meeting
  2. Emma is so lucky - she gets so many toys! Thanks for sharing these - they are great x
  3. This is great news Logan - it looks as if Kihei is going to be a great member of your family! This is just the start......!
  4. What a great video Janet - it is so lovely to see Ana Grey enjoying her fabulous stand, as well as airing her views on her apple! She is gorgeous - such a pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing this x
  5. Michelle, my comments too are to Paul - not you, so there is no need to defend yourself about how long you have been a member etc. You have posted on his behalf, I am using you as that conduit to my right to reply. You even say you have told him not to take Yoshi out without a harness - but clearly he doesn't listen! You have done everything you can in order to secure the safe retrieval of Yoshi - but the only thing that can stop Yoshi from flying away again isn't wing clipping - it's a harness. £30 against the loss of his grey needs to be considered. As you will know, here in the UK it isn't the practice of breeders to clip a bird's wings - so to make that decision is kind of sad. Please get him to read the many threads about owners who are DESPERATE to give their bird freedom again by regaining their flight feathers after clipping - he will see how sad it makes them. Also - if Yoshi were to jump from the top of his cage (something he has probably been used to) then he will crash to the floor and awful consequences would be met here too. I am really, really sorry if you have taken my criticism personally - but this is an open forum, and everyone's opinions count (Paul's included). I am merely trying to persuade him not to make a mistake he will regret later on.
  6. The sunshine makes all the difference! I can see that those two are loving that sunshine - roll on the real summer!!!
  7. Confirming that they grey is definitely male!

Inaccessible Island Rail - I cheated, sorry!! What is the national bird of Belarus?
  10. Ha Ha! Thanks for the heads up - vanilla pod it is then!
  11. Harvey's just turned 16 months old. His "hello" now is absolutely clear as day, his "Yo Harve" is absolutely clear as day and he also says "Michael" (my husband's name). I thought I had the only mute parrot on this forum - but I guess not! Perhaps I shall recite the whole animal repetoire Judy - you just never know!! Now I know he's not mute I shall have to mind my Ps and Qs!!
  12. The first bit of trust between Harvey and I was on the first night I brought him home. Yes, the breeder had told us to leave him in his cage to familiarise himself, but of course I ignored it ! I was lying on my back on the sofa, and Harvey was sat on my chest. I pulled my fleecy blanket up over both Harvey and I and he fell asleep, just with his little head peeking out. Aw, it was so sweet (and so long ago ha ha)! It was a lovely moment that was reciprocated nightly, until he decided he'd had enough at about six months old! Needless to say, there's none of that now!
  13. Murphy's in love! Regurgitation is a sign of affection (and I am so pleased that Harvey's never done this to me - I think I would puke)!!! Harvey goes for heads too - but we just gently "shoo" him away with our hands and he goes elsewhere. If he does manage to land, we just remove him swiftly. The only thing is - he's 16 months now and hasn't got the message!!!
  14. I'm really glad that Yoshi has been found - and my criticism here will sound harsh - but it was Paul's mindlessness that allowed Yoshi to escape in the first place. Why punish the poor bird by having her wings clipped? Circumstances like this make me sooooo mad. Paul took her outside without a harness on (imagine that, a bird that can away - it's hardly rocket science) and Yoshi used her wings to fly (what a huge surprise). I just hope he hasn't got young children and one manages to walk and break something that they shouldn't have - will he get their legs chopped off!!! Sorry to sound harsh - but he has been extremely lucky she has been found, but sadly had to endure fear due to something that was completely out of her control.
  15. Chris!!! You haven't accepted my friendship request!! Turn on your "friendship" button!!!!

  16. Absolutely amazing! That Too wasn't giving in was it! I love the bit after the lock falls off when she is trying to get her hand out to reach the clasp! Absolutely brilliant! As a side note - I wouldn't mind having a house large enough to accommodate that cage!!!
  17. Ha Ha Ha! I thought so! Ah, Lyn is so sweet!
  18. As you know, Harvey's not fluent yet - but he's a perfect mimic! I just had to share that I have been laughing my head off this morning. He's always done a blackbird (learned it from a radio ad) and for along time has done a duck (quack quack). For the last few nights I've been saying "Harvey, what does a pig do" and then making that "nose/throat oink oink" sound and he's been sort of croaking back. Well, this morning I said "Harvey, what does a pig do" and he did it! Proper "oink oink"! You know how camera shy he is - but I will have to adopt my stealth position to try and film him doing it!!
  19. Ah - she is sooooo beautiful! Glad she has her own login and avatar!
  20. Not in my house!! Harvey isn't allowed to chew our clothing - and has never been allowed to do so. If he is ever sitting on us and he does move his beak anywhere near our clothes he sharp gets shifted! It is also extremely rare that he poops anywhere other than his stand or cage - so poop isn't a problem either! The kids weren't allowed to chew my clothes or crap on me - so a parrot has no chance!!
  21. As you all know, Harvey's not exactly Alex! But his favourite word is "Howay" - which means "come on" where I am from. I think he does use it in context. He often says it in the morning when I'm making his breakfast - almost as a "hurry up" prompt. Great thread Jane - I love learning about all these clever babies. PS. Hope Kim gets better soon Dan x
  22. Oh, in the absolute scheme of things this isn't important whatsoever - I just like to look popular and will strive to look so in any way possible
  23. What a fantastic video Dave - at 5 minutes and 5 seconds I was willing the branch to snap (you will see what I mean folks)! This video is so interesting and educational, but the poachers are not bothered at all about what they are doing. I know it is a way of life to them, but hopefully these conservationalists will be able to educate them properly. They are absolutely beautiful birds, who show no harm to anybody - they just want to bring their young up and survive......unfortunately, clearly not the reality in Nicaragua. Thumbs up, karma, kudos, kiss kiss, whatever goes! Fantastic Dave - thanks!
  24. Hi Howardine - hope all is well with you. I hope Precious is behaving herself - looking forward to your input again xxx
