  1. Ha Ha! I keep forgetting you all don't live just around the corner! Well, anyways, it's never too early to start in my opinion......!
  2. I could hear Sully - he definitely wanted in on the action!! Great video Janet - Ana Grey wasn't going to give in (you can tell she's a woman)!! I love your playstand ~ Sully and Ana Grey must have such fun. Thanks for sharing the action with us - and also the "finished product". I've had four flight feathers over the past two weeks - Harvey will be waddling soon!!
  3. Hey! Friday session back up and running again!!!! We've got so many new members - I'm sure they aren't all on the coca cola tonight! Come on you new members - have your parrots driven you to drink yet!!! I've got a nice bottle of wine chilling - oh and did I mention I'M NOT BACK AT WORK UNTIL 10 MAY 2010!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!
  4. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! Oh Paul - you really need to jump on over to the "Off Topic Forum" and join our F.A.R.T Group - we convene every Friday evening!!! We will always embrace new members!!! This would be a cardinal sin in my house too!!!
  5. I love Little People Big World - they are such an inspiration! Never heard of 19 kids and counting - but the terms "contraception and sterilisation" come to mind!!!! Thanks for sharing these Jacural - I'm definitely going to hunt around for 19 kids and counting!
  6. I think I can safely say that probably 90% of us aren't in jobs (or retired from jobs) that we wanted to do when we were younger. Take me for example - I always wanted to be a journalist, specifically a travel writer - I work as a PA in Healthcare! What jobs did everyone else want to do - and did you fulfill that ambition?
  7. What a great story Maggie - you definitely don't need a TV in your house - you get all the entertainment you need from this lot! They must bring you so much joy x
  8. Just want to refresh this thread for our new UK members (I think they're too expensive to ship anywhere else - sorry world)! Great people, great delivery - and an extra bit discount, just for being a member here!!!
  9. First and foremost I would like to point out that it is ILLEGAL to sell a bird that hasn't been weaned in the UK. Murphy clearly hasn't. It's not your fault - it's your unscrupulous breeder's fault. I am no authority on hand rearing - but the guys who have given you advice are. I feel so sorry for you. This is a position I definitely wouldn't like to be in myself - it's not like weaning Ella-Rose - kids are easy! Right - I can't offer any weaning advice - but I can tell you where to get Kaytee - Harvey eats it. I get mine from Midland Parrots (http://www.midlandparrots.com) - this is the link to their Kaytee page: http://www.midlandparrots.com/kaytee-foods-50-c.asp I don't think for one minute it's attention though - I don't think Murphy is fully weaned. Can you PM me with your breeder - I know a few who are "black listed" and would like to cross reference yours with those.
  10. I never saw Harvey at this age - so what a beautiful insight into such a fantastic moment in their lives. And Spock - you haven't aged a bit!
  11. Yip! Me too - Harvey "escaped" when he was very young - I'd put him in his cage to go and get ready to go out. I cam downstairs, and there he was, sitting on the bannister of the stairs. I use cage locks too - I would HATE to think what would happen if Harvey was unsupervised around my home. Not to mention the destruction - the electrical cables and gadgets would surely kill him - that along with plants that I have which are "available" when I'm not home (the doors are shut when Harvey's out). Get that cage locked!!!
  12. Oh to top it all off - I didn't get the credit - no, no, no! The rumour mill around my work started and the story ended with two porters rescuing the bloody pigeon!! No badge for me!!! Oh, and also - as soon as I logged on my computer this morning after my valiant effort - I skyped my husband and said "I've had to rescue a pigeon today" - His reply "Don't bring it home, we've already got one"!!! What a cheek!!!
  13. I hope it is his friend's and not some trickster! I hope he has proof that this bird belongs to him. I know that there are some unscrupulous people around. Great news that this bird has been found though!!!
  14. Ha Ha Ha! You never know - you might have the same effect on Judy with Desperate Housewives!!!!
  15. Oh! Sorry - I'm useless - I clearly think everyone knows what I'm thinking of! Yes, Peter is an African grey ~ and I agree - fantastic story!
  16. I'm sure that this vet will get to the bottom of the problem with Paco Ryan - try not to worry too much (which I know is difficult)! With regards the shoulder thing - pah! With regards the towel training - I play "peek a boo" with Harvey with a soft fleecy blanket. At first I merely showed it to him, lifting it up and down in front of him - now I just throw it over him! He doesn't mind at all and finds it a bit of a lark! If you're going to go down the line of eating the pellets - adding a bit of gravy will make all of the difference - but if it does get to that point, I am sure we can all club together and send you a food parcel!! Fingers crossed all tests are good ~ I'm sure they will be
  17. When I get to work in the mornings I go for a coffee with my friend (06.30). Where we sit looks onto a courtyard, with one of the work records rooms directly oppposite. These have high windows that only open out about 5 inches. To my horror, there sitting in the window, trapped, was a pigeon. Well, that was it - I was like something out of pet rescue! I ran round to the records room (luckily I have access) and tried to coax the pigeon to me (I think I was going to throw my coat over it, I'm not quite sure). I just knew I wasn't leaving it. I then knew I couldn't do it on my own, so I telephoned the on call estates boys. Two chaps came straight to my aid and to cut a long story short we were able to "shoo" it towards the window's edge, where it managed to squeeze out. To impact matters, it's mate kept flying down outside to check on it's whereabouts - it was heartwrenching! So - not only am I employed by my company as a secretary, I am also part of the "Animal Rescue Team". All of this before 07.00 in the morning!! I am now having a well deserved coffee!!!
  18. The jackdaws are shouting "mmm, bet she tastes good". Flaming nasty things!!! We've got them here too - I HATE taking Harvey into the garden when they are around - they're awful things! I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. Magpies too - I hate them! Get that poor bird away from those trouble makers!!!!
  19. I would have thought that small will be too small. When Harvey was 430g ish I still had the medium (even though it says 450g + for a medium) and it fitted perfectly. Unless Abby is under about 420g the medium aviator should fit her fine - it's the clasp at the front that adjusts to her size - are you fastening it right to the end, just before her wings, just to the left of her keel bone? The medium harness is recommended for CAGs, the small for TAGs.
  20. They are all absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing them with us! I can't believe the number of members on here who have multiple pets - you must all be absolutely bonkers!!!! Keep them coming ~ you all have such beautiful pets!
  21. I have been flashing my photos of Harvey to all and sundry at work who wanted (and some who didn't) want to see them. One of my colleagues told me of an absolutely fabulous and heartwarming story. Her uncle used to work on the Gold Coast (now Ghana) in Africa and in 1958 he had been walking in the forest and discovered a "chick" on the ground, lifeless, but breathing. He scooped it up and took it home with him and fed it milk until it was strong enough to eat nuts and seeds, native to Ghana - and kept him as a pet, out there with him. When it was time to return to the UK in 1959 he brought "Peter" with him (obviously no laws then) and he lived with him and his wife, leading a happy life. Three years ago my colleague's uncle died, leaving "Peter" with his wife (who Peter had been with all his life). My colleagues uncle "lives on". Peter has a HUGE vocabulary - and yes, you guessed it, sounds absolutely the same as his departed owner. They found it quite eerie at first, but now, three years on, they find it a comfort and it's like a little bit of him still exists. Peter is now 52 YEARS OLD!!! He is also thoroughly healthy, flies about and talks up a storm!
  22. Ah, only three! You seem like the old man of the forum (Dayo, not you Dan)! You have so much knowledge and give us so much insight into your life ~ and we are all grateful for it. Have a fab day xxxx
  23. There you are! Money saver! Who needs a DVD!!!
  24. Bites? Do they bite - I wouldn't know!!! I also love that "woooooh" sound, not sure what it means - but it obviously means something to Harvey!
  25. That is just so funny Sheila! If you hadn't spoken while Cracker was whistling I honestly would have thought it was you! Just as well you'll be around forever for Cracker - imagine him getting into the home of a red's fan!!!! Ha Ha! TORTURE at it's best (for those of you who don't know - the Z cars theme tune is the song that Sheila's football (real, round football) team come out to! The red's are their arch enemies (Liverpool)!! I love it - I've played it five times and laughed to myself each time! Go Cracker!!!
