Oh My Goodness!!! What a shocker!! Welcome Back!!!! A new member with 1200 posts! Bah - you've been busy today!! I look forward to you fitting in where you left off - you've got lots of new friends to make!!!
-
Ha Ha! He's doing those pull ups beautifully!!! Keep him away from those anabolic steroids though!! Great to hear Charlie is doing so well Sheila - and he's in that fabulous aviary of yours!
-
Welcome to Grey Forums! Well done to you for taking in an older grey. You seem to be doing everything possible to help her settle in. I laughed at the regurgitation - because I'm glad that Harvey has never "loved" me in that way - and long may it last!! I look forward to your journey and finding out how you are doing x
-
It's just as well she's resisting - you'll have a fabulous, unique hat for the races should you choose to go!!!
-
Ha Ha! Mint!!! Peter Lorre sure has some goggles on him!! Ah, new pets - how cute! Low maintenance too - such a contrast!!!!
-
Ha Ha! These are brilliant! I'm rushing out to find myself a Commute!!! Loved them!!

Well, I beg to differ!!! I read your initial posting, replied to your posting with my advice and read your replies - therefore I feel I can respond to your absurd claims of "clicks" and the likes! I don't know you, I responded - in fact, I don't know anyone on here personally!!! The reason you've received no further responses is that the thread has run out of steam! Our replies have been met with "I've done that, I've tried that" - well, perhaps we can't suggest anything else! I must say, it is the first time I have EVER read of any bird unscrewing the hinges on the cage door - mine hasn't got hinges, so this isn't an option. Now that you have the locks, and he can't get past them, why not change your cage to a one without hinges? If this is such a major problem then this would be your only option I would have thought. Please do not feel that there are "clicks" of any kind here - I'm the "unclickiest" person alive, so if you want to start a "click" I'll put myself forward as your first member!!! We are all here for one reason - for the goodness of our greys. We have members from all over the world who are able to offer kindness, advice and support - 24/7. There are some members who specialise in breeding, there are some members specialise in training, there are some members who (this is where I'm not sure where I fit in!!) but we are all here to support each other. I'm sorry you feel you haven't achieved a "solution" - but we are all just meagre owners, like yourself!! Please feel free to post more about your grey - we'd love to hear from you (he sounds a treat!)

Why don't you get a cement perch in his cage or something along those lines? Harvey's 17 months now and I've never had to trim his nails once - they are kept trim by the wood, his cage and his cement perches. No need for any intervention!
-
I forgot about this! Come on Janet - who or what are they!!!!
-
Harvey's favourite thing is to unhook them from the top and drop them to the floor. I can't leave him for a moment in the conservatory before he's on the top of the rail - liberating the slats! The look on his face is priceless - he thinks he's doing me a favour!!!
-
Give it a go - see if you are a little more successful than me! I've checked again, not a sprinkling or a tinkling of a sprout in sight!! Oh well, looks like cress is about my limit!!!
-
Oh my goodness, between you and I we are like the Northern Branch of the RSPB! I can't be doing with such stresses - starlings, pigeons - oh and not forgetting the worms I regularly rescue.........!
-
I absolutely love these Lyn - they are just soooooo funny! I absolutely love the geordie woman Sarah Millican who does the voice overs for this - and I love Jason Manford too - great comedians! The whole series is absolutely hilarious!!!
-
Ha Ha! Isaac won't be fooled for long Stephen - I look forward to the next photo of him sliding down the blinds (toy still intact)!!!
-
I'd say well done to Paul, but here in the UK it's 7.12pm and he's likely to be in bed after such a hectic day!! Oh well, never mind, he's clearly survived today - there's always tomorrow!!!!
-
Can't wait to see it - I'm totally hopeless in this department and love to see what creations are made - hurry up and get some pictures posted!!!

Hi laker4life24. We here at GF aren't here to be impolite, merely offer help to people in a predicament. I would trust my grey's life with the chaps here who have offered you advice. They have asked very polite questions, and received no answer from you - other than the "bite back" at Dave007. Please take a deep breath, accept their offer of help. All the people here who have offered advice have done so out of their care, love and understanding of your situation. Unfortunately your posting comes over defensively from the outset - "before you guys say anything" - well, unfortunately, as an open forum and with lots of experienced breeders, they are going to say something. I can't offer any advice regarding the young ~ the only advice being, listen to these guys. They really are out to help you, not out to get you.

I've watched in awe the videos of all these parrots hanging upside down and swinging on things, but Harvey's never done it.......until recently! He started swinging off the hanging things on his java tree and then started hanging upside down, having a whale of a time. This progressed last week to him swinging upside down from my fingers - I can carry him through the house! But last night was the STRANGEST! Whilst he was hanging upside down I decided to sit down. He didn't budge and I rested him, on his back, in my lap! I have seen so many parrots do this, but never thought it would be something Harvey would do! As he got more "confident" I could feel him loosening his grip on my fingers (although he never let go) and he laid his head back in my lap. He stayed there for a good three or four minutes! Like I said, he wouldn't leave go of my fingers, he was still holding them as if to say "I'm still in charge, I'm hanging upside down", but it was just so lovely the way he lay there

Ha Ha Ha! I burst out laughing at exactly the same time as you! She could go up there and never be discovered!!!
-
What a great picture Lyn - Alfie looks so sweet! It's great to get them out and about - I'm waiting until Harvey gets a little more used to his again before venturing in public! Hope this picture gives others the push to try their harness again - it's great to have them out and about x

Hi Amiraweston, welcome to our family. Xtreme575 and jacarual give good advice - but the best bit is that "all parrots bite". The definition of a bit should be taken into account too - parrots "feel" with their beaks, and sometimes this will hurt you. Other times if they are frustrated, or going through a hormonal phase they will "bite" and draw blood. It's nature for them to do it - it is frustrating to the owner, it can have you in tears - but you have to "train" yourself not to respond in any outlandish way that encourages the bird to bite. They love the drama - so if you scream or shout when "beaked" the bird will think you are enjoying it and it will encourage him to do it more. At 10 weeks old though, there is no venom in the bite. The baby is merely tasting you, just as Jacarual says. You will, however, have to be ready for the bites that definitely will come. They are hormonal birds, with very strong personalities and wills. I'm not trying to put you off in any way - but please do be expecting the odd "bite". It's parrot nature after all x

Excellent! What a clever little girl Alfie is - I had one of these for Harvey, and if I'd left the treat in it would have fossilized - needless to say, he never worked it out!!! Great video!

Come on everyone - they're easy to find - the internet is littered with them! http://www.123opticalillusions.com/pages/Spinning_Dancer.php

The pet shop near me where I sometimes visit was putting a strange "thing" in the bird cages last weekend - it looked like a bit hairy caterpillar! I asked what it was and it was the millet string things you get for budgies and other small birds, all sprouted. The birds were tucking into them with gusto! He told me how to do it, soak them overnight, shake off excess water, and then put in a plastic bag in the airing cupboard - they will sprout in three days! It's been a week now, and the millet looks just the same as a week ago! I think I am doomed in the process of millet sprouting!!!

Just don't go doing what my dad did one year when my mam went Christmas shopping and left him with me (7 years old) and my sister (5 years old). He is not known for his culinary excellence (he could burn water) and managed to cook me and my sister some soup for lunch (tinned of course). To our horror (even at 7 and 5) my dad served us this lovely soup IN THE DOG'S PLASTIC BOWLS!!!! Tupperware was all the rage in 1981 - but not to share between your kids and dog!!! Make sure you have Kate on speed dial - you're a bloke - you'll never cope!!!
