  1. Thanks for the background - it's great reading about "rescue" histories - thank you so much for sharing Rene's information x
  2. Harvey tries this all the time! It must be my glowing smile that keeps attracting him!!! I wonder what it is about mouths - I clearly only have a very small, delicate mouth and therefore I'm not sure of the attraction!!! :) I just blow on him - sharp stops this action!!!
  3. Oh so pretty - you can see where they get their name from! I can't believe they are so exuberantly coloured, yet labelled as shy! Thanks yet again Jay for a fantastic bit of info!
  4. Hi Paul - yes, I think this is true! To be honest - using photobucket is far easier - and you get the picture within your post instead of a thumbnail - if you find any others let us know!!
  5. I wouldn't worry about it - there's absolutely millions on the internet if we are desperate! I'm quite happy with my - they are easy to do and I don't have to compete with 15 year olds who know all the abbreviations and shortcuts! Stay simple I say!!!!
  6. Ha Ha! That one has to be a joke Judy - but I still laughed very loudly (and I'm alone - scary!!)!!! Ah, how sweet Janet - I can just see them trying to get up onto the pavement now, bless them! Thanks for this! Come on, keep them coming x
  7. What fantastic photos Paul - I absolutely love the one of Ella-Rose and the boyz! It tells such a story - Ella-Rose has her eyes firmly fixed on Zeus, Zeus is acting like such a Diva and posing for the camera and well, Murphy couldn't give a hoot what on earth is going on! I think you are one brave man to take all three out - I struggle with just the parrot!!! Thanks for these pictures - all of your babies are gorgeous!!
  8. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! Have you not realised by now - IT'S ALL ABOUT ME, ME, ME, ME, ME, ME!!!!
  9. Ha Ha Ha! Check the Queen and her lady in waiting out!! I've been dying to watch this today - but You Tube is blocked at work! It was certainly worth the wait - absolutely fantastic Lyn! Love it!!!!
  10. Yes, we certainly like new ideas - so if you learn something, feel free to share it!!
  11. Harvey liked Cheerios when he was very young - I found that this bribed him mostly (not a treat, definitely a bribe!!) but then soon gave in! I don't have treats anymore - I'm a bit like Dusty in the fact that a jolly exuberant "good boy" seems to get the desired effect - and Harvey obviously loves the sound of my voice As for the climbing thing - I'm like Harvey's personal play stand! He gets in the most unusual positions and just hangs there - he's quiet, I just let him for the peace!!! Good luck in finding something that your baby enjoys!
  12. Oh what a nightmare! I would have done exactly the same thing - taken the bites and all! I once read a fantastic tip on here - I can't remember who it was from, but they said they kept a pillow case near their bird's cages, so in the event of the unthinkable and they had to evacuate - they could just bung the bird in the pillow case in order to get out quickly. I now keep one in the cupboard near Harvey's cage for any such occasion. I'm so pleased that everything is okay ~ it's such an easy thing to do, and we've all done it! Great that Calypso is speaking! What a great thing to say too!! PS. Since you burned the rice - what did you have for dinner!!! :)
  13. Why? I was really enjoying reading Dusty's progress until this statement! Why do you feel you need to clip his wings - oh no, he flew! What an absolute shocker! An otherwise fabulous tale!
  14. Great pictures! You can now join the "Aviator Gang"!! Keep putting it on!! He's a little cutie x
  15. Everything happens when I'm asleep!! Thanks again for sharing such a fantastic event with us - I love each and every one of them!! I will be sneaking into the nursery cam all throughout the day ~ I love watching them grow! Thank you so much Dave xx
  16. Ah, Murphy's gorgeous - still full of that "baby innocence" - the old "butter wouldn't melt" look! He's absolutely beautiful - thanks for sharing x
  17. Dan's lucky enough to have this book - I can't get it! I'm hoping he's typing it up as we speak so he can mail it to me! I stumbled across the website a few weeks ago - it looks like a fantastic read ~ thanks for sharing this xx
  18. Hi Tanya - Welcome Back! What absolute dreadful neighbours you have! It's now "okay" for them to be "okay" with Phoebe - just because their dog barks! It's funny how people change isn't it. They put you through this terrible dilemma, but now are giving you the green light to get another grey - what fantastically generous folks they are! I'm glad that Phoebe has a great home, and it's lovely that you are keeping in touch with Joann - it must be a terrible stress on you though. It's good that you are looking for another companion - although I would be wary of the "turning neighbours". They've already made you get shot of one bird, who says they won't change their minds again? Either way, welcome back - and I look forward to hearing how it all goes x
  19. Oh what a poor, poor little baby! I don't know how anyone can stand by and watch such a devastating thing happen to something - lucky there's people like yourself in the world who rescue such needy creatures. I wish I had the strength to do something like that - but I'd just be in tears at each and every juncture! Thank you for your picture of Jolly - I'm sure the last part of her life was her happiest I know what you mean about staining - once Harvey's had a "serving" of palm oil he has "palm poo" - now that's a toughie to get out!
  20. Oh my goodness! That's an amazing story - I find it particularly fascinating that an animal species can pick up on distress in another "creature". Great start Judy - thanks for getting the ball rolling x
  21. Thanks for the update - really good to hear that Amigo is doing well. Do you have any photographs of him - I love baby photos!
  22. Here's the explanation from Talon for you! REPUTATION/KARMA I am sorry to report that there is no option for a Karma feature as we previously had in the old forum. But I am very excited to report that we now have an equivalent feature. It is a reputation bar......every member automatically has one green bar just for joining. It will appear under their member name when you make a post. Other members may click the reputation icon (the little star symbol) on your post and 'Approve or Disapprove". They may also make a comment regarding your post if they like. ** Please note: ADDING TO ANOTHER'S REPUTATION IS AN OPTION. As your reputation goes up, you will see more and more bars under your name. Each click will add points up, and after a certain number of points, you will earn another green bar. (It's like an increase in karma) The number of points depends on your post count, reputation power that you earn, and days in membership since the new forum. If you hold your curser over the green bar, you will see a status that has been pre-determined based on your rep points. To see your reputation comments and your point total, click on YOUR settings tab.
  23. Here's one from me: BIRD SQUAWKS ON OWNER'S AFFAIR! A devastated Englishman learned the horrible truth that his girlfriend was cheating on him - straight from his pet parrot's mouth. Chris Taylor's parrot Ziggy began squawking "Hiya, Gary" every time his girlfriend Suzy Collins's mobile phone rang. The African Grey also made kiss noises each time it heard the name Gary on television or radio. At first amused owner Mr Taylor, a computer programmer, dismissed it as something the bird had picked up watching TV. But then he snuggled up beside Suzy on the sofa in their flat in Leeds and Ziggy cried out in Suzy's voice "I love you, Gary." The cat was finally out of the bag. Call-center worker Ms Collins, 25, broke down in tears and confessed to having a four-month fling with a former colleague. She had met her lover in the flat while Ziggy looked on. Her confession ended their two-year relationship. It also led to 30-year-old Mr Taylor parting company with his pet - because it kept screeching out her lover's name. Mr Taylor wasn't sorry to see the back of Suzy after what she did, he said. But it really broke his heart to part with eight-year-old Ziggy which he had bought as a chick. "I lost my girlfriend and best mate at the same time. But it was torture hearing him repeat that name Gary over and over," he said. Mr Taylor named the parrot after Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie's alter ego. It learned to reproduce the line "Put on your red shoes and dance the blue!" from the Bowie song Let's Dance. Ziggy has since found a new home with the help of a local parrot dealer.
  24. There are tons and tons of bird related reports in the newspapers/on TV from all around the world that I am sure people would like to share - so here's your opportunity! Please post any items you wish here - be they funny, informative or anything else bird wise - it doesn't have to be parrot related - any bird counts!
