  1. Great video Sheila - love the background music too! Thanks for sharing this x
  2. Of course it counts!! I'm not sure I'd manage it though - I'd go bonkers with more than one bird!!! When you get this indoor jungle - you must invite me round for a look
  3. Happy Mother's Day to you all ~ have a lovely day and I hope you all get to sit back, relax and be pampered xx
  4. Over the past few weeks Harvey has been making a sound that we recognised, but couldn't thoroughly place - until yesterday! The football was on (that's REAL football with a round ball America!!) and all of a sudden he burst into life! It was the referee's whistle when a foul was made, or a free kick given! It'll be impossible to deter this noise - the football is ALWAYS on in our house! There's not even the annual break this year - it's the World Cup! I was looking around the internet for similar references when I found this - needless to say, I shan't be taking Harvey with us to a game!! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2158271.ece
  5. Hi Russ - Harvey is 17 months old and I thought he had his "proper red bum" (if this is the scientific term!!!) - but the feathers that are coming in over the top now are far more intensely red than the ones he already has. He's going through a pretty aggressive moult at the moment - I've noticed that nearly all of the feathers at the top of his wings (the shoulder like area) have been either "preened" out or have fallen out - he's very downy there at the moment, but there are tons of pins coming through. His wings look at the moment like a badly stuffed cushion.
  6. I wonder why they do it! Harvey does it too - but if I hold anything else in front of him he doesn't move! It's bizzare behaviour shared by them all !

    Labeling

This is great - and definitely the way forward! In order that our greys develop their cognitive skills etc it is essential that we do exactly as you are doing - the same as bringing up a human baby. It is great when you give a "command" and they respond - Kihei is obviously getting very well accustomed to you! Good going - can't wait to hear more x
  8. I was hoping for news of this baby too, but obviously none. I thought that perhaps this chap was too busy to come onto the forum to update us - it sounds a nightmare raising a chick, and I don't think I'd have time to come and update us on the situation, but I've checked when laker4life was last on - and managed to log on about 24 hours ago - so you would have thought a little update would have been warranted, considering a lot of people have taken their time and effort to help! Please let us know what has happened in this situation - we really are concerned for both you and the baby x
  9. Any one for scrabble!!! Best way to look at it - he's just helped you to get access to those biscuit crumbs that have been under the keys for the past year. He probably thought he was doing you a favour! Moral of the story - don't ever leave them unattended!!!

    Buddy

Bless him, what a little angel. I am deplored by people who taunt and crucify harmless things - things that are unable to complain, unable to share their pain with anyone. I would like to be invited to "police" these lovely people! Great pictures of Buddy - he's such a gorgeous bird. I am sure that he will be "thanking his lucky stars" that he's found such wonderful people to care and love him - no matter whether he's never, ever your little pet or not. Thanks for Buddy's history - poor, poor thing x
  11. He was taking it all in, so that when you get to the point where you've switched it on and you're not sure what to do next he can instruct you This is also a very informative post - you have demonstrated one of the MAIN items needed when bringing one of these deviants into your home! A hand held hoover is an absolute MUST!
  12. Whoops! Never mind - it'll have all be election related rubbish anyway - she's done you a favour! Well done Alfie!
  13. I am sitting down for the first time in four days after a disastrous painting episode in my kitchen! We decided to decorate it whilst on "holiday" from work (how can they call them holidays - you're supposed to enjoy yourself on holidays)! Poor Harvey's been stuck in his cage most of the time, locked away from the fumes - but is now sitting here fully vocal and letting me know what he thinks! Firstly, I painted the ceiling, which culminated in me painting the floor too (luckily, slate and cleanable)! Then the Dulux Paint Pod, which I have decorated both my bedroom with and my dining room, decided to spit out too much paint when I was doing the walls - to top it off, I HATED the colour - after doing the whole kitchen - so we had to go out and buy some more paint and resort to the manual labour of rollers! Then I did the glossing and it all peeled and cracked on the back door! So, what was supposed to take a day has taken me four days. I know you are all thinking the same - yes, perhaps I should be a decorator for a living!!!
  14. So, if you're being a good boy - you'll not me your old self then!
  15. Yip! Me too!!! Once Harvey gets a hold, there's nothing going to entice him to free his prey!! Morgan will now zoom in on those glasses - it's a great game!!!
  16. Hey Ryan - you have NO idea what Jay and Maggie get up to in their spare time What a fantastic tour ~ never mind the Grand Canyon - I'll come to yours if I'm ever in the area!!! Thanks for sharing your lives with us - I love hearing about different people in different places and the comparisons with my (boring, normal) life!!!!
  17. Ah, bless you two (Jay & Dave) - it's a cross you both clearly have to bear!!! Never mind ~ we still love ya!
  18. What gorgeous pictures of those two! They seem to "smile" at the camera - real divas! I wish here in the UK we had a chance to take them out in the sunshine - take today for instance - overcast, blowing a gale and it's 7 degrees centigrade! Oh what a joy!!!
  19. Hi Rana - Welcome back! You are so lucky having all this exotic fruit readily available!! They definitely do look like a lychee - can't wait to hear whether they are accepted or not!!
  20. Oh, the anxious wait of it all!!! Good luck - I hope one of them proves to be your new companion - keep us updated
  21. What a gorgeous bird - she looks almost "fluffy" rather than feathered. She obviously had a good, long life - and was enjoyed by the people in the store. Thanks for this Ryan.
  22. I certainly wouldn't worry about that - there's many round here who can't get it right and English is our first language!!! (I'm also sure your English is 100% better than our Arabic)!!! Welcome to you Hattan and to Aoodi ~ you ask as many questions as you want. We are all here to help and guide each other and gain the best knowledge to give our greys the best lives possible. As Lyn has said, it's early days - you seem to be doing fine, taking your time and showing Aoodi that he can trust you. Hopefully, in time you will be able to enjoy a friendly experience with him. I look forward to hearing more about you both ~ and perhaps you can bring some of that Saudi sunshine into our lives!!
  23. What a surprise! Welcome back!!! I hope you enjoy our new home - and I really can't wait to hear about how Ben, Tevs and the crew are x

  24. What a surprise! Bernie - you clearly now realise you can't live without me, sorry, us!! Welcome back - can't wait to hear about how Ben is and whether that boat's had an outing (a successful one)!!
  25. I love your photos Lyn - they are always absolutely fantastic! Thanks for these - I love them!
