  1. "Oh and we dont all talk like cilla black" Oh yes you do! lol! Never been to Liverpool but the friendliness of the people is legendry and it is the city of culture. Good luck Everton for tomorrow!
  2. Yeah I know, I'd stop at 2...honest!
  3. Well the reason I ask is because I know that many of you have more than one and since having Beau I've decided I'd really like a conure (I haven't told hubby yet lol!) not that I could afford to buy one at the going price but I wouldn't mind taking on a rescue bird?
  4. No it was when they were good lol! It was in the 90s I think and Leeds were playing Tottenham in the prem I think. Leeds won. Friend of mine (a yorkshire lass) took me as she was a Leeds fan and I was staying with her at the time.
  5. Yay an' I'm a southern gal oooh arr, oooh arr :woohoo:
  6. Oh the poor thing. Sure is lucky there are people like you in the world. Karma to you.
  7. Remember this by the Bee Gees? Feel Im goin back to massachusetts, Somethings telling me I must go home. And the lights all went out in massachusetts The day I left her standing on her own. Tried to hitch a ride to san francisco, Gotta do the things I wanna do. And the lights all went out in massachusetts They brought me back to see my way with you. what a week

Oh Sheila you poor thing, let's hope you are on the mend now eh?
  9. What gorgeous pics, they look so cute when dozing don't they just.
  10. Oh Dan, you must be absolutely devastated. I so hope that Jake returns of his own accord. Poor thing must be so scared but you have done all you can and can only sit and wait. Prayers are with you.
  11. JD, that is fantastic, you must be so pleased with Ecko, he is one smart bird. Beau's hatch date is 7th Jan and he is also trying very hard to talk. He tries to say "he's a lovely boy" he has the right tone and get's the correct amount of Syllables but he hasn't got it quite right yet. I can hardly wait but Beau is a little older than Ecko so he is doing wonderfully well, congratulations. I hope you gave him a little treat for being so clever.
  12. Wow, you all live in lovely places...I'm so envious  I really like the Southampton area too - Bournmouth, Poole and the New Forest. One day I really would love to visit Virginia, if I ever get to the US this will be where I'll be heading. You all seem to live in lovely places - Calif, Florida etc.
  13. Thanks for the tip Judy, I had heard somewhere (probably here) about unshelled peanuts. Rana, I wouldn't have thought about giving unshelled walnuts or Almonds, I will try that. Thanks guys x
  14. ..that is the question. I've recently discovered that Beau seems to get more enjoyment out of his food if given whole. I used to cut his grapes in half but really there is no need as either sliced or whole he just eats the centre and discards the skin. With pastatios I've started to give him them unshelled and he seems to get enjoyment from turning them over and over in his beak until he finds the opening - he hasn't seemed as interested in them when given already shelled. Obviously with brazil nuts, walnuts etc. the shells are too hard but has anyone else tried other nuts unshelled?
  15. That's wonderful news caitb. It's funny I used to think you couldn't tell the difference between one CAG and the next but since owning one you realise they are all very different. Your pics of Ekco are great and it seems he is doing so well.
  16. Why would I laugh luvparrots? Sounds an ok place to live?
  17. I love those commandments, every pet owner should have them. They brought a tear to my eye too.
  18. OMG Talon, I'm so very sorry to hear that! Grrrrr I'd be so angry with his father! You are right, he was lucky. Let's hope father has got the message and nothing like this happens again! Here's to a speedy recovery. BTW Would you like me to tell you where exactly their brains are???
  19. Thanks Dan, I've a feeling I'm gonna be very envious when I read 'em all. Calif. - v nice.
  20. Ok, to save looking at EVERYONE's profile and as I'd like to know what wonderful and diverse places you are all from (I'm nosey like that ;-)) please place below the coutry and state/county/you get my drift and city/nearest city you are living in in order to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks in advance. Oh, I'll start off: Plymouth, Devon, UK
  21. I guess it's common sense really, put your bird out late afternoon/evening when the sun is weaker and make sure the bird has plenty of water and shade. Dan makes an excellent point about the meatl on the cage getting hot - one thing I didn't think about but Dan, "95 degrees" and "British sunshine" do not go together...in our dreams maybe
  22. I can't help but ponder (as we sit having the most meaningful of kisses & cuddles  ) just how much my life has changed since we had Beau. I've never really been one for pets, I've always believed that animals belong in the wild tbh. although I have always enjoyed owning pet birds. Having an AG has been a lifelong ambition - for want of a better word. In the few weeks since I've had Beau our lives have changed in no small way. I used to fuss over having the house spotless, now my priority is to make sure Beau's cage is spotless, I'm forever fussing over him, trying new foods with him and generally orginising my life around him. I didn't realise I could grow to love an animal/bird so much and I can't now imagine life without him. What has really surprised me is how intelligent AG's are and how in-tune they are to us - almost human-like in their ways sometimes whilst still wild in other ways of course. I have to pay tribute to Beau's breeder because he is so easy going and training him is a breeze. He now "kisses" and as I posted the other day, goes on his stand to go poop. He really is the perfect companion. I sometimes wonder if I'm boring everyone on here with my constant posts about Beau but I know you guys are the same with your greys, Carol being the most recent example lol! Just to prove that we're all the same then I put this question to you: how has owning a grey changed your life?
  23. Awww, how cute "I'm just a baby" lol! I can't wait for Beau's first words.
  24. I also have mine insured with exotic direct. The only thing they don't cover is your bird flying away and they told me that is because some people would get fed up with their bird and set it free into the wild and then claim the bird escaped.
