  2. Whatever happened to birdflu???
  3. Aww thanks everyone, you are so sweet.
  4. I'm so excited! :woohoo: Beau has been very vocal today as I've been at home for most of the day. He has been finding his "human" voice for a while now but today he said "hello", his first recognisable word. TBH I didn't expect "hello" to be his first word as I don't often say it to him but hubby does and he does seem to have picked him as his favourite. I'm sure he sees me as mum and hubby as a friend lol! Just thought I'd share this as I've been waiting to hear Beau speak for a while :laugh:
  5. Thank you so much everyone for all your suggestions. I have taken your advice and just spent £60 on foraging toys and the music toy Sheila suggested - now I'm broke :laugh: but if Beau is happy so am I. I'm sending kama to those of you with advice I found useful. Thanks again.
  6. Thanks caitb, yes Beau loves foraging but I run out of things to give him to rip apart lol. I just wish I could get him to play with the "normal" toys. I'm going to get him something Sheila suggested and maybe a couple other things he can destroy lol! Thanks for your ideas.
  7. You lucky thing Sheila, it has turned cooler here today, about 18 degrees and when we get a shower, we get a drowning!:laugh:

  9. Hi misslea77, I loved your video of Jacko, he is a superb mimic, he had the cough and the telephone ring to perfection! I know what you mean about him semingly prefering your partner to yourself, mine is the same, he can be really settled on me and having his head scratched but will still fly to hubby if he enters the room. Having said that, if hubby isn't around he is perfectly happy with me. If my Beau is anything near as clever as your Jacko with sounds (when he is older) I will be happy.
  10. I was wondering how much other greys play with their toys because Beau rarely plays with his even when I change them around. It is a constant source of concern to me that whenever I get home (even if I've only been out for an hour or so) Beau is always sat on the bottom of his cage looking bored. As soon as I'm in the house and moving around doing stuff he livens-up a little but although I only work part-time he just doesn't seem able to occupy himself when I'm away. BTW, I always leave the radio on when I'm out. Reading another post on here, I would like to add that Beau is also a quiet bird and makes very little noise.
  11. Today is men's finals day at Wimbledon. Roger Federer plays Andy Roddick.
  12. Accentric? Yes, wierd? No! Other people are too narrow-minded to realise just how intelligent parrots (esp. AG's) are. They are so caught-up in their cat & dog culture that they can't see any further than the obvious pet choices. Personally I think that parrots are far more than "just a bird" and more intelligent than dogs but especially cats but hey, it's their loss if they are unaware of this. I guess we are a little accentric though with our birdy way of life but who cares huh?
  13. Sure would appreciate a poem about Beau and me Dave, maybe you could leave it 'till 12th Aug as I have a "landmark" birthday coming-up that day, oh dear
  14. Ah you beat me to it dhorje, HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY to all the "yanks" :woohoo: on the forum :laugh: and it's an all american ladies final at Wimbledon this afternoon with the Williams sisters calling the shots!
  15. Ben is such a cutie, I just luurrve the first pic.
  16. Thank you for the forewarning Char :laugh:
  17. "Isn't it funny how when people are alive we are nasty and mean and then when they pass we remember the good things and make time to be nice? We should be nicer everyday and not wait untill someone passes to pay a few compliments." OMG BaxtersMom, you SO hit the nail on the head with that comment! I've just sat and watched a programme of his life. For all his fame & wealth I don't think he ever found contentment or happiness in his life, it's very sad.
  18. It's one of those events when you will always remember what you were doing when you first heard the news and it's on a par with the deaths of: Princess Diana Elvis John Lennon and yes Farrah Yes he was wierd but I think many of his problems were deep-rooted and stem from his childhood. He was also very naive and probably taken advantage of and the press hammered him. Nothing was ever proven against him whatever the rumours. Musically he was a genious and we will never see his like again.
  19. OMG he is soooo beautiful. If they are weaned at 2 years then they surely must live to a ripe old age. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Thank you for the timely reminder kitty and I hope you are on the mend. {Feel-good-000200BB}
