  1. Cool vid Dan, Dayo is lovely. I picked up "wanna go outside" and "what you doing", otherwise it was difficult to pick out words/sentances. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Yippee! Wonderful news! Can't wait to hear the whole story but for now just enjoy each other's company and spoil Rita rotton!
  3. Caitlin, I don't think it has anything to do with how much time you spend with your bird, certainly in my case I spend much more time with Beau than my husband. 9 times our of 10 when Beau flies to him he tries to put him back on his stand but Beau is persistant. I just sit there observing...and feeling pretty much like you do lol!
  4. This is a sad story but you are doing what is in Riley's best interests, that is a very selfless thing to do. Karma to you.
  5. Oh Caitlin I really feel for you and I know how it feels. Beau is 6 months old now and has also taken a liking to my husband. He will actually leave me and his head scratches to fly to hubby when he enters the room and if I go near him whilst he is with him he will lunge at me. When hubby isn't around I will do just fine but I'm afraid I am 2nd best. I'm the one who feeds, waters, cleans his cage out and lets Beau out but I'm still 2nd best and you are right it hurts especially so because Beau is supposed to be mine and hubby really isn't that into him. :-( I fear that Beau sees me as him mum whilst he sees hubby as his friend/partner. Hopefully this is a phase they will grow out of but at the end of the day we have to get used not being "the chosen one". Ecko does seem to have taken things to extreme by divebombing you, however I think you have taken the right approach by ignoring this behaviour and carrying on as usual. Be patient and good luck. X
  6. Oh Robin, I have just noticed this thread, I am so sorry for you. Poor George too. At least you know Gracie died quickly and didn't suffer a long illness. X
  7. Wow that's great news! As Judy says; patience is a virtue.
  8. Caroline, your bit about moving a piece of furniture out to make room for a cage really struck a chord with me because we did that for Beau to have the place I had chosen. I had to put my foot down about that because hubby didn't want to get rid of it.
  9. Lol! No I've learned to sit back and pick my moment and in any case I don't have the money - yet ;-) I will of course be handy with my camera when (notice not if) it happens.
  10. Haha Caroline, I have a client who has one and when I got Beau I had real trouble deciding on whether or not to get a grey (a parrot I'd always wanted) or one of these as they are so good-natured and are beautifully coloured. I'm glad I did get my grey in the end but now I'd like an addition to the flock, unfortunately my Husband knows nothing about my cunning plan so it will have to be dropped gently into conversation and probably over a large space of time - not to mention I will be the one paying for it no doubt! Beau was actually an early birthday gift from my husband as I have (hmm shall we say) a landmark birthday coming-up next month but I can't see him paying for a second edition, also I will have to convince him that we do have the space for another birdy tee hee hee...
  11. Sounds lie you had a great day! Happy Birthday! {Feel-good-000200BB}
  12. Oh no! These threads are heartbreaing. As Tycos_mom says, the quietest times of the day are the best because she will best be able to hear you calling her. All members on this site will be praying for Rita's safe return, good luck with your search.
  13. ...a baby hahn's Macaw. Quite a bit smaller than a grey but has a very loving and easy-going temperament. Does anyone on here have one?
  14. I'm on facebook but Beau's pic is my avitar on the footy forums - well I am a little camera shy. {Feel-good-0002006E}
  15. It's 10.30 am here in Plymouth, UK and it's throwing it down, it's dark for the time of day and frankly it's bloody depressing! The only + is that it's quite warm. :angry:
  16. My Mother's father (my grandfather) died serving in the Royal Navy during WWII. I have 3 sons (one is only 11) and my eldest 2 are both servicemen. My eldest is in the air force and has been to Iraq several times. My second son is in the army and about to go to Afghanistan in September so our armed forces are very close to my heart. TBH as it gets nearer for my son to go, I'm becoming more and more anxious. All our sericemen are very special and don't see themselves as hero's, they look apon it as simply doing their job but to me they are true hero's to face such a dangerous task with such bravery. May God walk with these men/women as they face such danger.
  17. I get Beau's palm nuts from Northern Parrots online: http://www.24parrot.com/product.asp?pf_id=53222a&QSI=cc1ea84f-8d80-4f0b-9229-b2b2fbcb80bb In the 3 months since we've had Beau I've noticed a significant difference in the condition of his feathers, they seem silkier - almost oily to the touch. I'm not sure if this is due to the palm nuts he eats or because we regularly spray him with a 50% water/50% aloe vera juice combo but whatever the reason, it's doing wonders for his feathers. :-)
  18. Lol! That's brill Dave. :woohoo:
  19. Thanks Bernie :-) {Feel-good-0002006E}
  20. Great toy and great pics too! One thing I have learnt is the bigger the toy the harder it is to destroy lol! Karma to you for spending big bucks on Ecko's new to
  21. Oh Caroline, you poor thing. I'm so sorry for you but you have thought and talked it through and have reached a conclusion after weighing everything up and I'm sure you feel a little better for it. You seem to have worked out a partial solution to this problem and only time will tell but everyone here knows that you love your birds and only had Jasper's best interests at heart. I hope it works out for you. XX
  22. I'd like to apologise in advance if this isn't allowed but... ..something I feel very stongly about atm is supporting our brave men and women who are out in Afghanistan. Whatever your take on the war or the reasons behind it our men are fighting out there so I'd like to start a thread for everyone to put either their name or user name to and if they wish, to add comments or words of encouragement or even messages for those who haven't come back. I know that there are so many American and British men and women out there as well as other nationalities and I thought this might bring us all together so to speak. I know our armed forces will be far too busy to read this thread but I'm sure there are families with men who have been out there, are out there or are about to go out there shortly (such as myself) who could do with a little support. I'll be first to add my name & comment: Julie Bring our brave men home, the sooner the better. Be safe guys & gals xxxxxx
  23. There's a few people I'd like to see heading for the moon - hopefully never to return. Think I'll start with gormless (oops sorry, Gordon) Brown.
