  1. It's a boy WOW! Congrats ZivaDiva. Hope you feel better soon.{Feel-bad-00020072}
  2. Be sure to post the results on here Azzie, dunno about you but we can hardly wait!
  3. Carol, I'm so glad that your son is back with you, you must be hugely relieved - a scary story with a happy ending. {Feel-good-000200B9}
  4. I would say that this is so common it is almost typical behaviour. My Beau doesn't like my youngest son and if he sits next to me whilst Beau is with me, it is me that gets bitten rather than my son - how unfair is that lol!
  5. annmarie, your baby is gorgeous and so BIG! I hope you get lots of fun out of him in the years to come. Rest assured his flight feathers will grow back in time, tbh I don't know what a clipped bird looks like because he looks perfect to me!
  6. lovethatgrey, she's a real beauty - I love the light green colour under her belly in fact I love green parrots, actually I love green lol!
  7. I'm so sorry you're having a hard time atm Natasha but look on the bright side of it, you are having the gland removed swiftly and you are getting your flu out of the way before (according to uk newspapers - sensationalist? Probably) the swine flu pandemic hits in the autumn. Come next year it probably won't be your turn to get flu. BTW - you actually get winters in SA??? {Feel-good-0002006E}
  8. Thank you Tycos_mom {Feel-good-000200BB}
  9. Carol, I'm so pleased this story has a happy ending for you and how lucky is your son to still be with us, someone was surely watching over him whoever it was. Sounds like you are both well out of it. Love to you and yours.
  10. I have been thinking of getting another parrot (in the future) and wouldn't mind taking on a rescue bird. I'm unsure of some of the sizes of other members of the parrot family and would only take on something smaller than a CAG. Conures I know are quite small and obviously Macaws are huge lol but what about Amazons or other species - are Amazons a similar size to AGs? Can anyone help or advise? Thanks!
  11. Cuddle times are special times indeed. It's said that pets are good for our health and it would seem to be true.
  12. Yep and buttons and clothing in fact the list is endless, I have so many clothes with buttons missing lol.
  13. Awww what a sweetie! I love it when they're being all cuddly. He certainly has his eye on the cameraman though lol.
  14. Dan, if (as you suspect) Jake is not in the immediate vicinity, chances are he wasn't anywhere near the thunderstorm - he may even have purposly avoided it. Thanks for the update and don't give up hope. I agree with luvparrots regarding the clipping, you have to do what is best for you and your family, other people's opinions don't matter.
  15. Does anyone know if there are essential foods that MUST given to your grey on a regular basis? For instance, many of you have mentioned giving your grey palm oil or palm nuts - is this essential food? Beau's diet consists of seeds, nuts, fruit, pulses, vegetables, egg, cerial. I have just put in an order for palm nuts and also Harrison's pellets which I'm going to try him with but tbh I've tried lots of things that Beau hasn't been interested in. Also I've yet to try meat of any sort - is this an essential food?

    what a week

    Oh poor you! I had to laugh at your "Susan Boyle" comment last night Sheila {Feel-good-0002006E}
  17. I was searching to see if theere are any avian vets near to me and thought other Brits might find this site useful: http://www.parrotpassionsuk.com/Advice/Uk_Avian_Vets.htm Sometimes when your bird is sick there's no time to waste looking for an avian vet so I'm bookmarking this site!

    what a week

    That's good news Sheila, now take it easy and ebjoy the lovely weather this weekend.
  19. I forgot to add, my son absolutely adores Beau and all animals, he is very kind and caring. Natasha, your friend has payed you a wonderful compliment, she must think very highly of you indeed. Great thread btw and one that is very relevent when you consider the age greys are expected to reach!
  20. Hi Natasha, yes it's a beautiful morning here in the UK and we are expecting a warm and sunny weekend - bet you don't hear that often lol! Seriously, yes I have thought of this because if Beau stays fit and healthy he will surely outlive me. I have told my youngest so (who is 11) that Beau will become his upon my demise (yes it is morbid but we have to be realistic and prepare don't we) now atm Beau isn't too fond of my son but I'm pretty sure that as he becomes older (and sits still lol) Beau will come to love him too as he does my adult sons who live away. I think Beau is pretty unusual for a parrot because he seems accepting of all adults who vivit the house so this is the arrangement as it stands.
  21. Thanks for sharing Azzie, another beautiful place - I'll be ok for my hols next year then with all these lovely locations to visit {Feel-good-0002006E} Just kidding, don't panic lol!
  22. You go girl! I wish you luck. {Feel-good-000200BB}
  23. Poor Koko, he sounds a right character.{Communicate-00020110}
