  1. When one of my neighbors first saw Koko, she asked if she was a pigeon too. Most of the people I met didn't know Koko is a parrot. They normally asked me "what kind of bird is that?" I would tell them it's a parrot. And some of them asked, would Koko change her colors when she grew up as parrots were colorful.
  2. As you have known earlier Koko fooled the breadman yesterday morning. This morning, on hearing the sound of breadman's honk, Koko flew to the entry door's curtain rail. But this time she forgot how to honk. Instead of honking, an 'ekk' sound was called out. She was very anxious, flying back and forth trying to figure out how to honk. Then she decided to sit on the fridge to practise honking. She was saying all sorts of sound. Eventually, she got it right and happily flew to the curtain rail and started honking. But it was a bit too late, the breadman had left.
  3. We have a breadman who comes at around 8am in a bike. He will honk as he rides, just like an ice cream-man does. Lately, Koko took interest in the honking sound. When Koko heard the breadman's honk from a distance, she would flying to the main door, perched on the curtain rail and mimicked the honking sound. This morning as usual Koko was with my wife in the kitchen. The moment she heard the breadman's honk, she flew to the door and started mimicking the honking sound as the breadman honked. When the breadman rode past our house, Koko's honk was even louder than the breadman's. The breadman stopped his bike, looking around for awhile. He then left when he saw nobody. LOL. Koko has fooled him.
  4. My Grey gets her suntan early in the morning and in the evening when the sun is not so intense. I only put her under the afternoon sun if she had her bath at that time.
  5. Koko loves fu chuk yi mai. My wife cooked fu chuk yi mai yesterday for the 2nd time because Koko loves it. I fed Koko a small piece of steamed pumpkin for dinner. She just ate a little bit. 1/2 hour later, I made myself a bowl of fu chuk yi mai. I added a little of it to the pumpkin bowl, Koko took a few bites then flew onto my shoulder wanted to eat mine. I added a little more to her bowl telling her it was the same thing. She didn't want to eat and flew onto my shoulder again. I cleared the bowl of the pumpkin remains to add in some fresh fu chuk yi mai. She was standing on my shoulder as I was scooping the boiling hot fu chuk yi mai. Koko was impatient, she walked down to my arm heading towards the pot. I told her "No" and "Wait". Surprisingly, she retreated and walked back to my shoulder. She finished the food after that. Darn, she is damned fussy. She wanted original fu chuk yi mai not pumpkin plus fu chuk yi mai. Note: Fu chuk yi mai is a Chinese soupy dessert. It contains barley, gingko nuts, cream-coloured sheets of bean curd, egg and soy milk. I wasn't sure if parrots could eat gingko. I didn't feed her the nuts.
  6. Lucky you. Adaya is smart. My Koko wouldn't fly to me on commmand without motive.
  7. You know what, it was my turn. I was in my room (upstairs)with my daughter watching movie while my wife was watching TV downstairs yesterday night. Koko was with my wife. Moments later, my wife opened the room's door. There stood Koko at the door. My wife said she climbed all the way up looking for me and was standing outside the door before my wife realized Koko was missing from her sight.
  8. Yesterday as I was going down (Koko was on my shoulder) and my wife was going up the stairs, Koko jumped over to my wife. Koko wanted to follow my wife. I picked her from my wife and proceeded walking down the stairs. 3/4 way down, Koko took off, made a semi circle and landed on her play gym which was hanging below the stairs. She climbed up and reached the metal railings of the stairs, then climbed from one railing to another railing until she reached the uppermost railing. From there she flew into one of the rooms looking for my wife. This is the 1st time she went upstairs on her own.
  9. Congrats to you and her parents.{Characters-000200D0}
  10. My wife bought some grapes yesterday. After washing and sterilizing the grapes using an ozonizer, my wife plucked a grape and offer to Koko from a distant hoping Koko would fly to her. But Koko didn't bother to move, probably didn't see clearly what it was. Then my wife said "Koko, grape." In less than a second she flew to my wife. Wow! My baby understood the meaning of grape.
  11. My Grey greets the morning with Hello, wolf whistle, crow's call and some screamings. I guess it is natural for they to scream.
  12. Hi mom, what are you cooking for dinner?
  13. My daughter was having peanut cookies this afternoon. Koko flew on her shoulder wanted her share. As my daughter has phobia having Koko sitting on her shoulder after experiencing many bites, I took Koko away and placed her on her stand. I placed bits of cookies in the container. I then told my daughter to hide somewhere else to eat her cookies. She went and sat on the stairs. As soon as Koko finished the cookies, she flew to her playgym which was hanging below the staircase. She climbed up the playgym and went through the gap between the steps of the staircase to reach the stairs. From there, Koko flew on my daughter’s head trying to get some more cookies from her. My Grey is brainy!
  14. As told by my wife. Koko somehow ended up holding the top of the timber door frame by her beak with her body dangling. She didn't how how to get away with that. My wife is too short to give her a helping hand. So my wife placed her palms together and instructed Koko to drop on to her palms. Koko readjusted her position by gripping the frame with one foot and her head pointing downwards. She let go her foot and dropped safely on my wife's palms. Yeah! I got a smart Grey.

    Egg

How often do you feed egg to your grey? My grey is eating egg everyday. I was told to cut down to 2X a week.
  16. Koko was at the playground this evening, perching on the metal bar as usual. But this time she was quiet, kept on looking up to the sky instead of jumping here and there. I couldn't see anything because of the dark clouds. My daughter noticed there was a small flying object very very high up. After a brief observation, it was a kite that looks like an eagle. Now wonder Koko was so cautious, having being fooled by the kite.
  17. I made the mush and mash but I didn't follow all the ingredients. I added what I had at that time, mainly the food that I fed to my grey. I had all of them blended and kept in the freezer. Today is the 2nd day. My grey didn't really eat them. I mixed some with millets and fed to my other parrots. Hope they swallowed some when they were eating the millets.
  18. I spent my whole morning preparing one of the recipes, darn my grey didn't like it.
  19. I mix honey with fruit enzymes and my Grey loves it.
  20. My Grey doesn't like almonds. I pound the nuts and sprinkle to her oatmeal. That's the only way I can make her eat almonds.
  21. Koko starts to vocal at around 7am. I will bring the cage in and release her. I will then take her to poo in the toilet. On weekends I would take her for a morning walk before breakfast.
  22. As for the buffallo parrot mush and mash meal, do I need to heat it up before serving?
