Just talked to my Isabella's breeder, Eva, to take care of the final paperwork on my new baby. She tells me Isabella is being well socialized with smaller types of parrots and is very friendly and loving. The babies watched the football game yesterday, poking their heads out from under the cloth to make sure they could see all the action! I'm very excited about this whole new adventure. Ana Grey's reaction is the only thing that gives me pause. Isabella was hatched 12/2/10 so it will still be awhile. Thanks everyone for your congrats; I am so excited!!!

I am really curious about all the different species of Amazons we have. So I decided to start this Amazon Thread in hopes that everyone will post a picture and/or video of their special amazon(s) and tell us a little about his/her personality. Here is my girl Sadie. She is a re-homed 20 year-old Lilac Headed Amazon. I hope others will add their amazon(s) to this thread. I would love to meet all our little clowns!!!!

Hi Alissia, I hope Linus is feeling better very soon. I will be praying for him. Welcome to the Grey family!

Hi Val, great introduction! I look forward to hearing more about your birds and seeing some pictures when you get a chance! Welcome to the Grey family!

Why doesn't my Congo African Grey talk when I'm in the room?
Luvparrots replied to Madness's topic in The GREY Lounge
My grey is just the opposite, she talks to me all the time. But when someone comes over she is as quiet as a clam! The only way my friends and family know she talks is when they are in another room and Ana Grey doesn't know they are there or when they are on the other end of my telephone call. Ana Grey talks a lot when I am on the phone, very loudly!!!! -
Great looking playgym BigBird!!!! Very impressive!!!! How could your grey do anything but love it!

Can't wait to hear how the trip home goes and to see some pictures of you, Jessica and Yoshi!!!!

Your quick actions to get Kura, to the vet will help with a quick and complete recovery of your little treasure. Will be watching the thread board to see your update. Prays coming your way sweet Kura!!!!!

Just too cute Aly!!!! I love it! Although my dog, Lily, is a little 10-year old pug who is too fat to really move, I watch her with my birds all the time. But to protect her!! But when the parrots pester Lily, she just gets up and waddles away! Rebel is a very clever little grey, perhaps a combination lock is in the future!!! LOL!!!

The bond and love between Tinkerbell and Shanlung is one I envy and so admire. Perhaps it only happens once in a lifetime, if you are lucky and blessed, you cherish it. I hope Shanlung finds it in his heart to welcome another grey into his life, I would love to watch their bonding begin and grow-- to get first hand lessons from a Master.

Jeff, as Shanlung suggests you should adventure out into both TAG and CAG worlds to see which grey appeals to you. I chose Ana Grey (TAG) as my first grey as tags are more petite and I was looking for my first parrot. I was lucky and Ana Grey and I hit it off from the beginning and so far that companionship has benefited us both. When you find the right grey for you, you will know it in your heart. And it is true, greys are not for everyone. I have three different kinds of parrots, each one is different. My ekkie is more a solitary guy, my zon is a fun loving clown and my TAG loves human contact, to eat, drink and chill with me, she does not like me interacting with the other feathered guys, I am her flock. I am looking forward to being a CAG mommy. And because I have the time (I live alone and am retired) I want to see what the quirks and personality of a CAG are. Are they truly different than a TAG? I have space in my heart for one more parrot and I would like to satisfy my curiosity. But mostly because greys really are the parrots for me!!!!

Love your Avatar BigJon!!! Your grey's looking good on the beautiful crocheted work lying there! I look forward to hearing more about you and your grey! Welcome to the Grey family!

What a great picture of Cleo and her cherry!!!! I love to watch them holding food in the talons, so cool!!

Ana Grey has been very busy lately. She's decided that she is the keeper of the lights!!! I was typing in the office and out of the corner of my vision I noticed that the bird room was light then darker, back and forth. So I got up to see what was happening. There was Ana Grey..... I can't complain too much about her wanting to be helpful as she has been shelling my pistachios for me. She has figured out how to open the lid on the plastic container. She sits and cracks the shells and drops the pistachio kernels back in the container. What a sweetheart!!!! LOL!!!!

Oh my, and here I thought my Father had died from natural causes at 93!!!!! Just a note from yes, A California Raisin Farmers' Daughter. Sulfur is not lethal, it is sprayed or dusted over vines in early April to prevent mildew from forming on the budding grape clusters. Sulfur is not applied if it rains after the grapes are on trays. Farmers just lose their whole crop for the year if there is a rain. I will admit, however, that I don't eat raisins actually hate the little boogers, but that's because I worked in them until I was 19 years old and finally moved away from Fresno. Do love grapes though!!!!

Hi, please just relax and let Romeo get use to his new digs. Romeo probably senses your anxiousness to bond with him and so his reaction is to be a little more cautious around you. Greys want what they can't have and your wife's more easygoing attitude toward him perhaps makes him more determined and comfortable to be with her right now. Be the one to give him treats, feed him, talk to him and hopefully he will see the benefits of switching gears more of less. Have fun with your new companion. I look forward to some pictures. Welcome to the Grey family!!!

Yes, I agree someone has found Mino and is enjoying him, but most important keeping him safe. Hopefully his "rescuer" will see that he must be loved very much by his real owners because how else could he have such a great personality/manner and vocabulary. Once my beloved German Shepard was picked up by the river of my home and take into town. I placed a lost ad and they called, they told me they loved my Sugar (they named her Sweetie) had taken her on a trip to the beach with them but realized that she was well-mannered, well trained and very healthy so must be much loved. They reluctantly called the number in the lost and found ad. My tears of joy and Sugar's leaps of joy where enough to let them know that they were right to return Sugar to her rightful home. I pray Mino's rescuer will also have such a good heart.

Im new again! need a little reassurance
Luvparrots replied to rickster's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hi rickster, I am owned by a TAG, Ana Grey, she is a delight. She is as talkative as can be. She is loving and fearless. I can't compare her to a CAG... yet be will be able to in a month or two!!!! I don't think you will be disappointed at all, she is totally bonded to me. She lays on her back still at 2 1/2 years and I can touch her feet and all without a problem. Ana Grey rules the roost, I also have an amazon and ekkie, that are twice her size and she keeps them in line. She loves my two grandsons ages 21 and 10. So although she is not as colorful and large as a CAG she is just as feisty and frankly is much more daring. She certainly holds her own around here! Welcome back to the Grey family!!!! -
Does anyone take their birdies places? If so where?
Luvparrots replied to fidsandfrats's topic in Cricket's Amazon Room
I have take my grey and ekkie to my daughters several times to spend the night. They enjoy it very well, well except for my grandson's dog, Scout, he thinks their lunch, hunting dog (lab/beagle mix) that he is!!! Donna had planned to take me to the beach for a short stay for my big 65, but now that I have four parrots, prehaps not!!!! LOL!!! Oh well, it's the thought that counts!!!! LOL!!! -
My oldest granddaughter is Australian, well duel citizenship, Allie is in the US now, but she has many family there so, I pray all is well Down Under.

Thank you Talon and Ray P and Judygram, for your warm welcomes. I'll do my best to not let Jay down. Jay is the reason I re-homed Louie. It was Jay's great work in this Amazon Room, his weekly amazon reviews, his great tales about Salsa. Jay asked me to do him up an Amazon Quiz which I was delighted to do. Getting all the questions and answers together helped me to learn what wonderful creatures Amazons are and the versatility of their ways and personalities. (come to think of it, that's probably why he asked me to do it???? lol) They are truly the clowns of parrots and I can only thank Jay for all his informative threads and posts as I would never have even considered an Amazon as a companion if it had not been for Jay. Understand, that this is Jay's Room, Jay's creation and Jay's aurora and spirit are what make this room a success. I am honored to be his "gatekeeper". I considerate it a privilege to be asked to keep this Amazon Room, Jay's Room, up and running and everyone honest and in-line (LOL). Amazons are the most active and humorous parrots I know and I enjoy this Room because Jay worked so hard to make it great. I miss Jay, I pray he comes home soon. Janet
