I know you are a very loving and caring parront. All anyone has to do is read your posts to know that you have your birds' best interests at heart. I only have one grey, one ekkie, one amazon not two of the same kind. So I relate it to the relationship between Ana Grey and Louie. Both birds are headstrong and independent, both want to be the "top dog". In the beginning, I had to constantly watch these two alpha birds to see that they did no real harm to each other. If they lunged for each other I had to intervene, watching constantly and telling them, to "stop that" "be nice" "be good" and removing for awhile perches or Atoms they fought over. It took 4 months of vigilance and constant reminders to both of them to be good. I never punished one over the other just corrected the one causing the disruption at the time with words. Of course, they never really hurt each other just a lunge or flight toward, if they had ever attempted to inflict real harm I would have had to see that only one was out of their cage at a time and that is not something I wanted to do. I would never try to put them in the same cage as we each need or own space from time to time. One thing I always keep in mind is that they can inflict permanent damage to each other and that is something I would not want for any parront to have to live with. Ana Grey and Louie tolerate each other now and have a kind of respect for each other although I still watch them constantly and insert a "be good you two" now and then to remind them of their expected behavior. I know you will find the right solution for your greys.

Great answer RayP. Any more takers??????

Just for fun!!!!! You are driving in a car at a constant speed. On your left side is a 'drop off', (The ground is 18-20 inches below the level you are traveling on) and on your right side is a fire engine traveling at the same speed as you. In front of you is a galloping horse, which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a galloping zebra. Both the horse and zebra are also traveling at the same speed as you. What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation? Post your Answer!!!!

Thanks for the heads up Barbara. I use links with my parrots' toys also as Louie is so hard on his toys they always come crashing down.

How do your birds get along? Possible Amazon Addition
Luvparrots replied to chezron's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
My three, Tag, Zon and ekkie are out all day long in the same room. Sully, the ekkie is the oldest and prefers to be left alone. He prefers to sit in or on his cage. He is not a toy player. He lived in a pet store for 7 1/2 years so he is happy just to be in the peace and quiet on a safe routine. Now Louie, the blue-fronted zon is three years old this month. He is a re-homed who lived pretty much in his cage. Louie speaks Hindi and some English and is a curious and active clown. He loves to chew wood and lucky only his toys so far. He jumps out of his cage as soon as I open his cage in the morning and plays all day long. Now he and Ana Grey, my first parrot that I have had since she was four-months old, are not really friends. Ana Grey is my baby and flies all over the house she perches in different designated spots in each room. She at times loves to be with me. When she and Louie are out they will not perch on the same perch and are constantly shooing each other off and claiming the perch/boing/atom as their own. They don't hurt each other but they do fight and bully each other for position. It is a relationship that is now workable and I don't worry so much about them as I did 4 months ago when I first got Louie. Neither has bitten or drawn blood or feathers from the other. So with patience and vigilance until they get use to each other different species of parrots can live together. You just have to let them find their places in the hierarchy own their own but with patient supervision. In each of Ana Grey's and Louie's defense, both are alpha personality and Sully is a follower. -
I have a TAG and she is the sweetest little darling I could ever want. Ana Grey is a very patient and observant grey when my year-old grandson is over she seems to know that he is off limits and will quietly sit on her perch or the back of my chair when I am tending to Dino. Ana Grey seems to know he is a baby and much more delicate then her. I am looking for a Congo now to round out my flock.

Luvparrots replied to Luvparrots's topic in Cricket's Amazon Room
Thanks Penny, so you can see the pictures if you click on them???? That's a relief!!!! Thanks for the looksey!!! I have posted pictures of most of my birdies' play areas. Most are ceiling toys hanging next to windows. A boing in every room at least. There is also a very large net in my office which has been there since Ana Grey came over two years ago. Over the years I have posted oodles of pictures as my fids are such hams!! -
What a great story on how Millie became part of your family!!!! You are just starting on a wonderful adventure with a truly remarkable creature! I believe you are going to be a great parront!! I look forward to hearing more about Millie and seeing some pictures when you get a chance! Welcome to the Grey family.

Let the breeder wean the baby why take any chances with your new friend's life. I got my Ana Grey fully weaned in fact the breeder, Millie, refuses to release her babies until fully weaned and eating by themselves for at least a week. Ana Grey is totally bonded to me, and she trusts me as if I were her real mom. Poppycock to any need to "get involved" its what you do when your baby comes to its forever home that counts. Gain your baby's trust and you are bonded forever.

Same with Ana Grey, I tried giving Ana Grey a plate of her own and she ignores it so she eats from the corner of my plate. I use a large dinner plate!!!! I have to or there is no space for me!!!! LOL!!!!!

Yoshi's Future - Trying to find a good home
Luvparrots replied to jessdecutie18's topic in The GREY Lounge
I hope you are able to find the right home for Yoshi. I'm so sorry that this has happened to your family. -
My Ana Grey eats best when she is stealing food from my plate. I guess she believes I am her flock not the other two fids in the bird room. I know I need to be careful of my saliva mixing with hers so I always put samples of the foods to a side so she actually has her own little meal to one edge of my dinner plate. Because I live alone this does not cause me any hardships and Ana Grey eats tons and I enjoy the company!!!!
