  1. My TAG is 2 1/2 years old; my Zon is 3 years old and my ekkie is at least 10 years old. I will be adding a CAG to my brood at the end of February or early March. She will be 4 months old when she arrives. They each have their own cages as I believe they each desire and need their own space and quiet time. Their cages are all in one bird room and they are all flighted and out all day long, most of the time. They tolerate each other, my grey is the boldest and littlest. My Zon is always challenging her and because my grey is quicker and maneuvers much better than he, she always wins so to say. Neither is out to hurt the other only gain the desired perch. My ekkie is a quiet guy who only wants to be left alone. I am retired so can devote lots of time to my fids; they are my flighted family.
  2. There are several different kinds of nutriberries and I use them to lure my birds back to their cage at night time. Sometimes they just toss them out sometimes they eat them right up. A couple a day is all I give them, one fruit, one veggie each.
  3. Very happy Buster was just having an off day!!!! I look forward to hearing more about him, you must have oodles of great stories to tell!!!
  4. Well the preparations are advancing slowly but surely. I have figured out what cage, toys and necessary things are needed to prepare Isabella's homecoming. Have called our avian vet to see about the three-day wellness check and micro-chipping and all is coming along swimmingly!!!! So thrilling!!!! and expensive!!!!!
  5. Thanks for information Dave. I'm really looking forward to this adventure. And ahhh yes, one of the reasons I chose a female over a male CAG. I didn't want my 300 gm TAG bullying a 600+ gm CAG with masculinity issues!!!!
  6. It will be interesting, a TAG and a CAG. Two completely different kinds of greys, let's see if they are different if raised the same, basically. I am really excited about this. Ana Grey is headstrong and very fearless. She can read me like a book and knows when she better shape-up just by the tone of my voice, I am very animated around my flock.
  7. Awww Dr. Flock, I know you are always here to help me and that gives me oodles of courage when it comes to my new baby, Isabella. You are one of the great rocks to this Greyforums!!!
  8. Thanks for sharing pictures of Lucy with her toe pot as it shows that she is doing just fine. What a relief to know that she is such a good patient. Actually, it's rather chic as the color matches her feather tones divinely!!!!! She is a lucky lady to have found you!!!
  9. Much too funny!!! But I am NW so I guess your deliver deal is null and void!!!! Oh darn!!!!
  10. Have you tried playing with his toys with him to encourage him to also play. Ana Grey likes to be with me and in the beginning, I would have to direct her attention away from me. Now she is more content to sit on the back of my typing chair (over a towel so she can't chew my leather chair) or on the top of my computer screen where she can see and talk to me. This seems to work for her as she can see and interact with me no problem.
  11. Agreed totally with other members, an avian vet call and visit sound very appropriate. What is your grey's name by the way. Being 15 years old, why he/she should have many years yet to go.
  12. Great pictures of Sid, what a good looking sweetie pie!!!
  13. Waiting, waiting is a piece of cake!!!! I waited two months for Ana Grey and drove the members of Greyforums crazy with my silly and ignorant questions about greys. I'm sure Dave, Dan, Judy, Penny, Caroline (miss you) and Pat (miss you too) and others were very entertained by my ignorance but thirst to learn. They were always there to respectfully help and encourage me. Right now I have a cage and toys to buy, room to re-model and a family (all cat people by the way) to tell that I have yet added another long-life parrot to my flock!!!! I have a lot to do and get ready for!!!!! What fun!!!
  14. I read that the oil of the hemp seed is a rich source of the essential fatty acids - linoleic, linolenic and gamma linoleic. (omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids) These EFA's are necessary for healthy skin, feathers and immune systems. Hemp seed is supposed to be great for people as well. Hemp seed is eaten by birds in the wild so I say to myself, why not give it a try. Sully is all ready trying to be good and plucking less so perhaps this will be the boost he needs to help him on his way. Fingers-crossed.
  15. Thanks for sharing these photos with us!!!!! Phenomenal sight!!!!
  16. My amazon is a local Craigslist bird and I am totally happy and delighted with this wonderful bird. Come to think of it, my sweet Ana Grey is also a craig's list find!!!!!
  17. I have been looking at a post here about hemp seeds being good for plucking so looked it up on the net and I understand it is supposed to be a way to go. I have ordered some sterilized (as required by law) hemp seeds to try on my plucking ekkie. He is getting much better and not plucking as he use to (aloe vera showers) but it has been a 1 1/2 years and I just want to "help" the process if I can. So wish me luck (or Sully luck that is)!!!
  18. I know this was a very hard and nerve-racking decision for you. Looking forward to seeing some great pictures of Lucy happy and standing tall. This calls for a Group Hug!!!!
  19. I'm all for your research Dave! I don't have a grey who is a plucker but I have a re-homed other bird who is so I will be very interested in following/reading about the results of your study with greys! Good luck!!!!
  20. I don't know the circumstances of this "trade" and why this person wants to trade one bird for another. I will say, that I have a male eclectus, who does not talk, is a plucker and if I could find someone to love him and care for him I would give him to them in a heartbeat. Why, because I know when I am gone it will be very hard for my daughter to find him a home and I can understand where no one would want him unless they have a big heart and will be content to put up with this eccentric old man!!!
  21. Thanks for the information Dave. I want to build an outdoor aviary attached to one of the windows of my bird room so my birdies can come and go, in-or-out in the summer. So this is great info!!!!!
  22. Dayo certainly has a large vocabulary and loves to talk. He sounds like you Dan, so his transformation is almost complete and you could be replaced any day now!!!! He probably just needs to learn to mow the lawn Dan, and then you're history!!!!! LOL!!!!
  23. Have been moving my bird room around! Luckily, I can fit one more cage in the room, Hooray!!!!! This is my last parrot!!!! Honest!!! LOL!!!
  24. My heart aches for poor Otis. What I would do in this situation is take a couple for proper water/food bowls to Otis as a gift. I would provide proper food and treats for this neglected grey. Complaining does no good, action is called for here. If talking to the owners doesn't help then taking care of business is what is necessary. If they cease being your friends or letting you into their home then you have done all you can. Hopefully providing proper goods and foods will shame them into taking care of Otis and they will step up, if not you really tried and losing their friendship is really no loss.
  25. Hey, that's great to hear Steven. Now Isabella has two siblings on the Greyforums. Does that mean Thanksgiving at your house, Christmas at Gail's and Easter with me!!!!! LOL!!!!!
