When Ana Grey was micro-chipped she was not put to sleep and the chip didn't phase her at all. My vet for my birds as an avian vet perhaps that is the difference. Ana Grey is a Timneh and at almost 3 years old she only weighs in at 297 grams She has had her micro-chip for about a year and a half and it has never bothered her. I am quite pleased with the security it gives me that if she is every lost I can prove she is mine. If she ventures out the door and is found she can be taken to a vet and free of charge she can be scanned for a micro-chip. My name and address are registered with Ana Grey's micro-chip number. This is a personal choice I have made for my greys.

I have never had a problem with my grey or zon coming out of their cages. All I have to do is open the door and they dash out!!!! Now my ekkie he prefers to sit in his cage so I respect his wishes and let him come out as he pleases. I would just open the door and let your grey come and go has he pleases.

None of my parrots are real fans of pellets. They must love my cooking!!!! LOL!!!!! I would love to see some pictures of Chili Pepper!!!! (hint, hint)

What a wonderful intro of Yoshi to the flock!!!! Dixie is a real sweetheart, I love her and Yoshi's first greeting to each other, priceless!!!! Can't wait to see some pictures of the gang!!!!

Louie my BF Zon is a 3 year-old big boy and plays hard all day long. I feed my birds their big meal of the day in the AM and Louie eats his food like there is no tomorrow. I replenish their dried veggies and fruit at bedtime so that they all want to immediately get back in the cages for a snack. Makes it easy to close them in for the night as they are out all day long.

National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Birds has wonderful visuals and prints them for each region, western, eastern, etc.

Hi to you and Wallace. I always tell my birds where I am going when I leave the room or the house. They seem to understand. If they call out to me, I answer back if I am home and that quiets them down. They just like to know they are not forgotten. Ana Grey now says, "I'll be back" when I leave a room. I always tell them when I come back home so now they understand the routine. Toys help to entertain our greys when they are left alone. Ana Grey especially likes to chew on wooden toys. Toys that make noise are also well-liked toys in this household.

Morena, my avian vet will microchip for $65.00. Of course, my young grey is also having a wellness check as I have just purchased her and she must meet certain weight and health requires before my vet will microchip her. The chip is not for tracking her whereabouts, it is scanned by a veterinarian to prove ownership so that an animal can be returned to the rightful owner. Remember I am in the USA and even the costs across my country vary.
