My philosophy... When in doubt call the vet and check it out!! Have you tried a little gentle finger massage around his throat and beak. Ana Grey is good about me touching her around her head and neck so I hope Rambo will let you give him a helpful rub or two.
I buy boxes of bendy straws and tie them together for my gang and you are so right, they are a big hit and very inexpensive for a world of fun for our fids!!!!
Thomas you should introduce yourself in the Welcome Room so everyone can say Howdy!!!!! As for your new grey, you need to take it slow and give your new grey a chance to settle in and get the lay of the land so to say!
Very funny Dr. Flock, I have a couple of males remember. An Amazon who plays all day and a grumpy old male eclectus who complains whenever anyone gets in his space. Men, baa humbug. I have already told the breeder not to clip my baby girl, (they do sex tests so you can get your pick of male or female) and she has agreed not to clip, Hooray!!!!!
New Baby Congo for Me!!!!!!!!
Will I finally found a baby Congo for me!!!! I have been looking for a while and now I have found a baby which should be weaned sometime early March or late February 2011. The breeder lives in sunny California in San Diego and will ship. I am thrilled and have made my deposit!!!! I get a chose of male or female and have had so much good luck with my little lady Ana Grey that I think I prefer a little lady! I am ecstatic!!! They are going to send pictures as they have 5 babies available!!!!
Hi Neil, congrats on your new baby grey, I look forward to seeing some pictures and hearing about this new addition to the family! It makes my blood boil to hear about the loss of your first grey, for someone to steal a belonged companion is merciless. I have my Ana Grey microchipped as any way to identify and to help have my baby returned to me is important to me. Any hey, welcome to the Grey family!!!!!
Very nice intro Jeff and I look forward to hearing from you and your adventures into the world of bird rescue and quests to find the right grey. In my opinion it does not matter if your grey is male or female as I have a female timneh and she is quite attached to me. I have been her parront since she left the breeder. It really depends of the socializing the breeder does and the trust you build with your grey. The same with congo or timneh, it depends on the socialization, temperament, and trust you build with your new companion. Welcome to the Grey family, Jeff!!!!
I'm unable to post videos again, so right now I am just frustrated and hoping it will clear up. So I will try to post videos again later, when I figure what my problem is again, Penny helped me but its not working again!!!!
Just start a new thread in the Other Birds Room with any questionsyou have about your ekkie. This Intro post should remain here. We have different room for different topics.
I get a bag of mixed beans and boil them up and toss them together with bags of frozen mixed vegetables and add in a box of cooked orzo then bag the mix up and freeze them. I warm some up about every third day for my fids, they love "hem! My birds love pecans, pistachios and pine nuts all unsalted, spendy but delicious!!!! I also chop up fresh veggies that are in season and feed these little varmints some every couple of days.
Welcome Jellygator, so glad you decided to join us. We do have an Other Birds Room so you have come to the right forum!!!! I have both an eclectus (male) re-homed; and a male blue-front amazon rehomed. However, I don't have the same problems you are facing. My male ekkie prefers to be alone (he is about 10 1/2 years old at least) and he only wants to sit in his cage in the birdroom, or his travel cage in my office. He is very set in his ways. My zon is 3 years old and is a sweetheart but won't let me touch him but he minds beautifully and is very playful and will return to his cage when asked, most of the time! So please post your questions about the amazon in our Amazon Room and questions about your eclectus in the Other Birds Room and perhaps we can give you some suggestions to help you answer your questions. Welcome to the family!!
Very nice to meet you Sherrie and Greyson. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of your little sweetheart and hearing more about him. Great intro by the way, its always nice to hear the skinny on everyone. We have a Pet Memorial Room if you would like to post some pictures and some stories about Robyn. She sounds like she was a wonderful friend and very loved. Welcome to the Grey family, Sherrie!!!!!!
Hmmmm, maybe I should believe Ana Grey when I sing and she says, "Stop That!!" Perhaps she is really trying to tell me something????? LOL!!! Great post about Millie, who also, like Ana Grey, has a good ear!!! Perhaps we can get a little video of her assessment of the talent next week????
