  1. When I first read this thread, I was so upset about what Sydney was doing that I had to walk away. Sydney's story is really painful to think about and I feel your heartache and although my re-homed ekkie is no where going through the trauma and things Sydney has gone through and experienced I can truly understand what you his parront is feeling and going through. Sydney is so lucky to have found you. I hope and pray that you find the remedy/solution/cause to help Sydney and he can finally understand that he is loved and is now in a wonderful forever home and has nothing to ever worry about again; he will never be forsaken again.
  2. I'm not a lover of snow as I am originally from Southern California and when it snows in Washington State it usually freezes up and sticks around was black ice. It is very dangerous to slide around in, at least to me. So for me, snow is beautiful but only to watch come down preferable somewhere else.
  3. My grey loves her toys, but yes we have to be very diligent in keeping our birds' toys safe and well maintained. I keep only a couple of toys in Ana Grey's cage at a time and try to keep them more to the center/middle of the cage and then Ana Grey can bang them around all she wants. Be careful to check the locking devices to make sure they are tight and not unscrewed or loose. One of our members posted a thread about pear-shaped locks that her grey's beak got stuck in so I have made a check to see that I don't have those types around. My zon is very, very hard on his toys and enjoys figuring out how to unlock them; he can unscrew anything nut and bolt!!!! He is so destructive that he can shake a ceiling boing until it crashes to the floor. He loves doing this with all his toys and I have to be on guard all the time, he is never still.
  4. This is great news Robin!!!! I have been watching this thread for updates on Blue and have the biggest smile right now with this great news!!! Hooray!
  5. Congrats on your new CAG, Ruby!!! She is adorable and seems to love that ball. My grey doesn't play with her feet but she does ignore sunflower seeds. None of my birds seem to like them and I have a whole container in the freezer just waiting for, well just waiting!!!!!! Pistachios, almonds and pine nuts are a real hit in my flock. I believe given more time to adapt to her new home and surroundings that Rudy will quickly relax and her personality will come shining through. Enjoy!!
  6. Ana Grey does a little music pretty well. I have a little ditty that I do for my birds and Ana Grey and Louie have both been trying to imitate it. Ana Grey has gotten it down pretty well. She toots it out at least once a day, I'll try to get a recording of it. She does it mostly in the early AM before I get up. You might say she is my alarm clock!!!! LOL!
  7. That's a great story!!! Way to go Slater. I look forward to hearing Slater's video, I hope he'll be singing again soon!!!!
  8. Absolutely thrilled for you and Dorian, especially Dorian!!!!! I look forward to hearing about more progress!!! Being patient is hard to do, believe me I know, so it is great to hear the rewards when patience is successful. Gives a person the will to keep being patient!!!! Big hug to you and Dorian.
  9. Way to go Murphy!!! What a cute story Paul, and one to brighten the day? Love it!!!
  10. Hi rEsage, I got the cage from http://www.petsolutions.com/storefront/bird/pet-bird/cages-carriers/medium-cages-cockatiels-conures-doves/ez-care-playtop-bird-cage-for-medium-birds/prodEZCarePlaytopBirdCageforMediumBirds.html. I totally love this cage for my birds as the whole front section opens for easy cleaning. I have two such cages now and another on the way for my new baby CAG.
  11. Thanks Robin and congrats on Morgan's breakthroughs too!!!! Little steps, they are so rewarding but so hard to wait for!!!!!
  12. Thank you Robin for this reminder of how quickly our companions can get into mischief no matter how diligent we try to be. I have a "first aid basket" for my guys which contains all the stuff recommended necessary for our birds if an emergency arises. I like the idea of a "hospital cage" that you mentioned, excellent idea. I hope Blue is recuperating quickly and that all is right for him now. Your quick actions and thinking saved the day. Hallelujah!!! Thanks for sharing this reminder with us!!!
  13. Thanks RayP, I know you understand how much this means to me as Cricket is a re-homed also!!!! Big smiles all over!!!!
  14. My birds stand/relax on one foot now and then. Usually the zon and grey are too busy. Now my ekkie is always sitting around so does sit/stand on one foot more often. Enjoyed reading through the site you addressed. Thanks for posting it!!!
  15. I am totally stoked!!!! Louie has come out of the Bird Room and into my office which is right across the hall!!!!! I cannot believe it. Of course, Ana Grey is not too happy about this Louie Adventure as the office is "her' space with me. She is challenging and flying at him and he is beaking back. I have to be really vigilant right now so there is no real damage done to either one (especially littler Ana Grey). I am just happy that Louie has finally decided that he is comfortable enough (after 4 months) to venture out. He has also been reaching out to me lately which I try to encourage!!!! Baby steps, but it is so hard to be patient!!!!!
  16. RayP, I guess that's a great way to think about it. LOL!!!!
  17. Much too cute Judy, thanks for finding and sharing this cool zon with us. Looks like he just had a shower!!!!
  18. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of little Shelby. It's great that you are close enough to be able to spend quality time with her!
  19. sledding Would you rather watch a wrestling match or boxing match?
  20. Oh thanks for this post, what a giggle!!!!! Marcus is amazing!!!
  21. Actually, I am of the age of the "flower child" and this is the truth..... I am allergic to the smell/smoke of the Big M!!!! I puke like crazy for hours.. not very romantic or enticing for a young single woman. If you wanted Janet at your party you had to leave the doors open!!!!!
  22. I got mine on line from a human provider. If you look on line you will see information about this product and information on its use for plucking birds and singing canaries!!!! These are sterilized seeds as the others are illegal, if you get my drift!!!!
  23. When I came into the kitchen I use to say, "Get out of there," and shoo her off and she now, more or less, gets to flying when she hears me coming. But there is an alternative........ LOL!!!!
  24. Perhaps a grey is too much parrot for him. My grey is so much more needy than my ekkie, who likes to sit and watch and is totally happy as long has he can see me. He always says hi to me when he sees me and sometimes we exchange sounds at each other. Other than that he does not like to be out of his cage and if I take him out, he quick walks to his big cage or his smaller in-my-office cage. He has to be in a cage, it's where he feels safest I guess and although he can now fly he prefers to walk. My grey loves to fly here and there and sit on my shoulder, the back of my chair on a perch close to a window or my computer. She loves to talk to me and tells me off sometimes. My grey, in my opinion is so much more intelligent than my other parrots. Much different personalites and wants and desires. Frankly, if a person doesn't want a grey, I much rather that person find a new and happier forever home for their grey that lock it up and forget about it. Just my personal opinion.
