  1. I just loved the video sounds juat like my little girl almost what a pretty bird you have I just had to look at your entire album while I was there he is one sweet little guy. I love the little baby picture of the 3 in the plastic container and the picture of him with his wings spread is a great shot You look lile you enjoying him totally good job getting him off one feeding it sound like he's going to be weaned soon Adaya is on one sometime 2 feedings a day depending on weather or not she takes the first feeding sometimes she will take some of it and sometimes she refuses so I'm just going to let her have it until she refuses it all the time that way I will know for sure she doesn't need it. I don't mind giving it to her so what the heck they all wean eventually so why rush it. Have you started harrness training yet. or are you not going to. Adaya loves to go outside and play and we go for an hour walk everyday around the trailer park I live in its really nice where I live each trailor has a 1/4 acre lot andits out in the middle of nowhere land for people that like allot of nature around them its perfect we have deer and eagles and bears you name it we have it it we have so many different birds because its in a huge wild bird sancuary so I love it here and so does Adaya she loves going for walks and seeing and hearing all the birds singing I have to keep her close though there are always hawks circleing above us. I also ordered an adventure pack so I can bring Tyco my other grey with us I wish it would hurry up and get here I can't wait:laugh:

  5. Happy hatchday Rexxy sounds like mom made it very speical for you. mabie Mom can make you some birdy Muffins when it not so hot. I'm glad you had such a good time with your new Monkey I'm sure you will yeach him who the boss is around there in no time you just have to keep these toys on they"re toes:laugh:
  6. What a cute picture he still looks like hes going to go to sleep even with a mouthful of food. My mom always told me that babys grow the most when they are sleeping its no wonder he's so big all he does is sleep eat and poop sleep being his favorite.
  7. It sounds to me like you have an un weaned baby and should still be hand feeding him formula. My baby is 13 weeks old and is still being hand fed 1 or 2 feedings a day depending on what she will take. 12 weeks is a minimum age to be weaned and usually when a baby is weaned the breeder will still continue to watch the baby for at least a week to make sure he's eating ok on his own. please phone either the breeder or an avian vet to help you with this before your baby starves to death. You could also buy some bird handfeeding formula and try giving it to him with a spoon just make sure the formula is not to hot no more than 105 degree farenheight it should feel just barely warm on the inside of your wrist<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/06 04:12
  8. I don't think thats true Tyco hasn't stopped talking just because she now has Adaya for a friend. if anything she talks more becaus she tells Adaya what she shouldn't do. Besides there is no garantee that the 2 birds are going to even like each other just because your getting another Greys doesn't mean automaticly that they will bond to each other.<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/06 03:52
  9. I really want to see the video but the link doesn't take me to it just goes to my space login page. Mabie you could upload it to www.photobucket.com first and then copy and paste the code here
  10. I know what you mean about HUMUNGUS cages I just bought one for Adaya I still have a blanket over the grate so if she falls she won't hurt herself The cage is only about 2 feet from the ceiling if she fell from up there she could really hut herself. I didn't put the skirt on mine for the same reason it wouldn't have fit in the place I put it with the skirt on so I left it off. I tossed the Instrutions also. Your lucky you have someone to help you put things together I don't have a man around to do anything for me I do it myself. I live to far out in the boonies for anyone to come all the out to put a cage together for me. I'm pretty much a pro at it now I'v put about % huge cages together. I can almost do it with my eyes closed. So when do we get to see this nice big cage. and how much longer before you get you baby. Is he on order and if so how come I haven't seen any pictures of him yet
  11. I don't use either one althiough I do have a feather teather harness I don't use it. I found a very nice little harness that the birds except easily it only weighs 5 grams and it easy to put on it can be worn with the leash on the back or front and so far Adaya and Fergie don't try to chew it to much. The harrness I use is called a lil critter harness its a figure 8 harrness and it only has one tiny clip
  12. Thats agreat Idea most Greys don't like being on the floor so I would say something like that would work for alot of behavor problems of even putting the bird in the batroom with everything closed would be also goo or a travel cage with a blanket over it any kind of thing that the bird doesn't like would work I would imagine putting him in his own cage won't work because thats his home and shouldn't be used as punishment
  13. I have lots of differnt speicies of bird I never introduced my birds to each other so to speak they all get along and are one big flock but they made the choice to introduce themselves to one another I never put to birds together on another birds private domain they usually introduced themselve on the playstand or boing or something like that putting a bird on another birds cage is just asking for trouble. unless the bird is invited they will not be welcome there but there is a good chance they will become friends so if you want another bird then I say go for it.<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/05 19:59
  14. Ya I know all about those 2 brains in there heads Igot one of those. one minute he's begging commere Iloveyou only to bite me if I get to close. I must admit though he has come along long way since I've had him he so wants attention and he always wants kiss kiss he allows me to kiss the top of his beal everynight before bed and he blows rasberrys at me its so cute. he comes outof his cage no problem now but doesn't like to leave it at all . He will let me give him little scritches and then turn fast and try to bite he hasn't got me yet though and ithas slowed allot because I turn and walk away when he trys he doesn't like that.
  15. I would say around 4 months old they are full size then but are still immature until they are 5 or 6 years old.
  16. The feathers on his tail could be old or mabie faded from not having proper nutrition. you should mabie take him to the Vet and have him checked out before you allow him accsess to your other birds. I quarentine my new birds for a least a month just for safety sake I wouldn't want to have anything happen to my children.
  17. I Would say to put him in the bath tub with about 2 inches of water and let the shower pour down for quite some time the nicotine may be poisonous to him so you don't wantto just mist him alittle you'll want to get alot of that off of him first a little Dawn dish soap can be used but you have to make sure you rince him really well.
  18. I just wanted to let you know that a good bath or two will but his feathers right as rain I rescued a Severe Macaw and his feathers were in extreamy ratty condition when I brought him home within a few days of bathing him he looked like a different bird heres some pictures. The ones above are him before I got him they where sent to me by Email the picture above is within the first week after a couple of baths The ones above are while he was starting to molt and had a few new feathers I haven't got any real resent picture now that he has finished his molt but I must say he is one gorgous bird. Istill can't touch him he came to me with really big cage bound issues we will get there.
  19. It sounds like your really enjoying that youngster of yours. I have a baby also her name is Adaya and she is almost 13 weeks old Catlains Echo and Adaya are only 5 days apart in age. They are so Awesome when they are baby's I wish they would stay like that just a little longer they grow up way to fast. I've had Adaya since she was 5 weeks old. and I just love her sososo much. I also have a few other birds including a 6yr old Grey named Tyco. I will be looking forward to reading more about Spock as he grows up and of course any pictures that you would like to share with us would be absoluty wonderful also.
  20. Echo is so beautiful I also have tried to catch Adaya in Flight and the just don't turn out well at all I need to slow the shutter speed down or speed it up and I don't know how. Echo is a beautiful boy and he does look so happy and very proud of himself in that last picture. I love his feathers Adaya has those gorgous new feathers also that look so smooth and healthy Tyco has beautiful feathers also but baby feathers just seem to have somthing extra. Mabie because they are all brand new at the same time and as they get older they lose them here and there but never all at once. a picture of Adaya And I can't leave out a picture of my beautiful Tyco <br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/05 08:30
  21. Poor bird but if he's stepping up and settlng well he probubly wasn't abused even thought the house was dirty you cannot judge how they treated the bird no they should not be smoking around the bird but if it was in a separat room mabie it was their way of trying to keep yhe ciggerates away from him. he not plucking either which is a good sign. Some people trully love their animal but have no idea how to clean and keep a house or their pet clean and sanitary they do what they can to still love them and take care of them. I'm not defending them in any way I just saying that the bird sound like he's fairly happy and well adjusted for living in those conditions and that has to come from some kind of decent treatment and love. I don'thin that an abused bird would allow you to touch himin anyway until he learned to trust again. It took me 7 months to be able to touch Tyco anywhere on her feathers and she would no way step up onto my hand the only way I could move her from place to place was with a stick she would step up onto that but even that took a good couple of weeks.
  22. Well its been a long wait but the day is comeing up really soon now the next 3 days are going to seem like 3 years instead of 3 days. Don't forget to include some wonderful pictures for home comming day.
  23. I have a Female and she's the best talker ever she has a huge vocabulary she is also very bonded to me and I am also Female so which ever bird chooses you thats the bird ou should get because they will bond with yo much faster if they have chosen you if their is a whole cluch of babies pick the one that comes over to you and want you to interact with it. Thats not to say that you shouldn't buy a bird if there is only one bird and no choice then by all means that bird will also bond with you. But a grey that picks you will bond very quickly with you.
  24. I have two Greys and they do get along very well The oldest one is six years pld and the youngest is 31/2 months old I introduced them quite slowly and I put their cages about 6 feet apart so they could watch each other without really getting to close. I also treated my older bird to a couple new toys and some speical treatment and treats so she didn't feel at all threatened by the new commer she watched and watched for about a month then one day the baby flew over to her cage I stood at the door and watched for a few seconds with neither of them knowing I was there my older Grey dodn't do anything except watch her. then I went over to get the younger one and Tyco my older grey stood up very tall so I couldn'y yake the other bird away so I moved to a different posoition and so did she I finally moved her first to the playstand and then took the younger one. Ever since that day they have been geting close and closer the older one feed the baby and even allows her to climb up on her back if she can't reach to get where she wants to go. I was so suprised by this because Tyco is a rescue and was very badly neglected and abused before she came to me and now she is one very special bird indeed there are some pictures on the forum right now of them interacting with one another the thread is called more pictures of Tyco and Adaya.
  25. Actually I think its just wonderful also. And I actually think that when Adaya grows up and is ready to pick a permanent friend it might be better for me because right now Tyco has taken on the roll as mom so to speak and at about a year old Greys tend to leave their moms to go forth as an adult Grey and when that happens I'm hoping she will want to be with me more than with Tyco. We will just have to see how it goes right now she is still very much a baby and she doesn't go to sleep until late because I still give her a night time hand feeding which is at 11:30 pm because 4 days a week I work until them so on the other 3 day Me and her have 2 1/2 hours of special time. and I also take her for a hour walk in the afternoon on her harrness. So even though when Tyco is up and she wants to be with her Me and her still have our special times together just us and no other birds. when Its Tyco's Turn for one on one time I have to put Adaya in her cage and leave the room Adaya is very adament about interfering in me and Tyco's time together.
