1. I'm glad to hear everything is ok the poor birds can get pretty spooked when they are afraid and can't get away.
2. They are just gorgous they grow so fast just like flowers blooming in the sun one day their just little buds and the next if full bloom or feather which ever the case may be. pretty soon you'll have them both home with you and the fun will begin.
3. Adaya has gone off her pellets Zupreem Fruity she has always eaten them and loved them except for this last week and she hasn't touched any of them. Today I went and got her a different kind ibought her Zupreem harvest goodness I put some in her bowl and she started eating them right away. Then quit and went stright to her seed and nut bowl I don't give her much of that and I know that she would live on it if she had her way she does like her veggies also and eats all of them. I just hate this seed and nut thing do you think I should put her pellets in with her seed mix even though it does have pellets init and the slowly add less seeds and nuts and more pellets. or just keep them in a separate bowl like I have been doing?
4. Thats great don't you just love it when things like that work out so well Dorians such a brave little bird hope mom going to make a big reward breakfast for him
5. Just take things slow it takes allot of patients and he will let you know when he's ready right now you should be geting to know him spending time talking giving him treats and just being there before you do anything with him make sure you tem him first what you want to do like if he puts his head down for a scatch tell him that your going to give him a scratch or you can ask him to step up if he does then he was ready if he doesn't don't push it butdon't stop and always be predictable and start doing things rotinely greys like rotine they like to know what to expect change makes them nervous. if you are going to make changes you have to go slow your home is all new he needs to learn all about his new home and how everything works then he will be ready to start trusting you and letting you into his life more.Good for you for giving an older grey a chance for a better life the rewards are well worth the wait.

Poop Q

Mabie she eating more of something that she didn't eat before. as long as it looks normal and does smell then he's probubly ok I would watch for any other changes in his behavior and if you notice anything different at all I would take him to the vet.
7. What a little sweet heart it so brings back memory's of not very long ago. I love those little red paint brushes he has stuck to his bum so very very cute. enjoy while you can they grow up far to fast.
8. Thats so grey't can't wait til you get him home don't forget to post lots of pics for us. Your little guy is going to be quite the talkier if he's talking already how old is he now.
9. Thats wonderful that your trying to get him more used to you touching and interacting with him. He's known you all your life which is going to go a long wayin your favor. he already knows what kind of person you are and this is good I don't think you will have much trouble as long as you are consistant with everything. welcome to the grey family I love the red factor in you Grey by the way thats rare for a Timnah.
10. Congradulations on your new family member and good for you to take on an older bird that needed a home. I look forward to hearing all about Ziggy and the fun she will bring to your family. I would love to see some pictures when you get a chance also
11. Hi welcome We have many very experianced members here that I'm sure can help you with any Quesions you might have. It sounds to me like you breeder was just basicly init for the money if she didn't make time to play and socialize her babies. if she could not handle that many at one time she shouldn't have put nestboxes up for that many pairs. I'm sure you can turn this around with love and patients and your bird will grow to be a very happy confident Grey.
12. Pretty bird I love Elkies mabie one day I'll have one. I have an Amazon that I rescued quite a few years ago and when I got her her name was Apple jax I changed it to Fergie Yours and mine are the only 2 birds I've ever met with that name. welcome I look forward to hearing more from you about your birds. I;m sorry to hear your Grey started plucking. hopfully we can help you with this issue.
13. Hi Theresa my sisters name is Teresa also only spelt differently I use a harrness for some of my birds that I have harness trained and an adventure pack back pack for the ones that are to old or just refuse to let me come near them with one without tearing me to ribbons:laugh: many members here use harnesses or carriers of sorts to take their birds out welcome I look forward to hearing more about you and your bird soon Pictures please.
14. I don't cage my birds usually until it bedtime and then they are willing. All I have to say is comon in your house its bedtime and all the birds scurry into their cages and onto their sleep perches and wait for me to come and kissthem good nite and give them a little scritch before I cover their cages. its just part of our rotine. My birds are trained to go into their cages when I ask them to but I think it all started at bed time and its just automatic now when I say into your house they go its like the stepup command they doit without thinking about it.
15. I'm so glad I started training Adaya before she was even weaned. she still not crazy about me putting it on her because it take me awhile to do up that tiny little clasp I'm sure once I can get it done quickly it won't be a problem she doesn't seem to mind it one I get it on. Sometimes getting it off is bad again with that stupid little clasp I'm just not very good with fiddily little things.
16. I think it was probubly a little of both because she could see me from where she was and when I took Adaya off her playtop Tyco let out a very loud squwak at me. Tyco doesn't do that unless she is very mad she uses words to express herself usually.
17. Poor poor Pepper how could anyoney treat such a nice sweet bird with such cruelty Pepper's owner should be treated the same way and see how he likes it. {Feel-good-0002006E}

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/04/27 12:37
18. Well today Adaya flew to Tyco's cage again. I was playing with Tyco at the time and I guess Adaya wanted to join the fun. Adaya was on the top perch of the play top and Tyco was on the cage top at the front interacting with me. when i tryed to reach up to get Adaya Tyco moved right in front of me and stood up as tall as she could so I couldn't reach Adaya. if I moved to another part of the cage Tyco would also there was no way she wanted me to take Adaya away. I finaly had to step Tyco up and move her to the play stand in the other room just so I could get Adaya down. I'm sure Tyco thought it was so much fun she was probubly saying to herself you can't get her ha ha. the little imp she just loves to play and she's so smart she knows just what to do to play the game she want to play today it was keep Adaya away from mom.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/04/27 06:00
19. For breakfast my birds had french 12grain toast with sweet potato mixed into the egg a strawberry and a piece of cantalope for lunch they had broccoli.carrots, snap peas greenbeans red cabbage and a slice of apple. they always have a small amound of seeds mixed with 1 walnut 1 peanut 1almond and 1 cashew, also I add dried pappya, pinapple a banana chip and a raisen. they also have their Zupreem fruity pellets. Before bed 9pm I take all food out of their cages except for their pellets I find since they are covered for 12 hours until 9am they eat their pellets in the early morning they wake up hungry and want to eat so thats when they eat up their pellets.
20. Thats great I wish I could do my Birds nails. I do the smaller birds but the bigger ones I take to the vet she trims them with the dremal tool it works well for those needle like nails that the birds puncture my arm with. Adaya needs her nails done but I'm going wait till she gets a little older
21. Some people say its because they're missing something in their diet. I don't really know for sure mabie you could call your vet and see what she/he says I don't think it will hurt him but its rather gross
22. I think the Timmnah is less likely to pluck than the Congo the Timnah is also smaller. AS far as taling ability or intelligence I don't think there is any difference. It really depends on what you prefer if you want a smaller bird or a bigger bird.
23. Summer I think I have that exact cage for my Amazon Fergie. When I bought it It was suposed to be for Tyco but when I brought it in Fergie flew onto it and checked it out everywhere and didn't want to leave it So I said ok you can have it I'll get another one for Tyco. So thats what I did. but Fergie loves her cage She climbs all over it and she is about the same size as a African Grey She weighs about 450grams So I think your Shaka Zulu will be very happy in a cage that size.

New Ekkie!

Ilove Elkies and one day mabie I'll have one but Only if something happens and I have less birds than i have at the moment God forbid. I just cant do no more but They are beautiful and I'm so glad your new baby is settleing in so nicely.
25. Very nice pics I also think all birds should be able to fly free and I give My birds as much freedom as possible living in captivity they where not hatch wild and there for would not survive a wild enviroment so I do my best to give them as much flying room as I can. hopefully with Adaya she will bee able to fly like Tinkerbell on a harness but still able to soar the heavens. Love and training shes will have it all. All though I will never ever free fly her flying high on a harness is the next best thing. She has a very light weight harness she can fly easily Her harness weighs 5grs that pretty light distributed over her body. the harrness I use is called a lil critters harrness it only got 1 clasp and it very easy to put on I tried a Feather teather but this one is so much lighter and easier to use its a figure 8 harrness
