Thanks Dan then I definatly won't be giving any to my Amazon Tyco is fully flighted and active but can't fly very well. and Adaya Is everywhere and flys all over the house. But I will use it in moderation with them and only give them a few drops 2 times a week or so mabie 3 times a week for Adaya because she is a very active baby.

they are just gourgous

actually I think that how I got Adaya to wean I thought she was never goingto wean even though she would eat pellets and veggies and some soaked seeds she still was not refusing any feeding then when I moved her into her big cage wich is about 5 ft away from my older Grey she start eating more and refusing her formula and once she started it only took about another 2 to 2 1/2 weeks to totaly wean My older Grey kinda took her under her wing and actually fed her a couple of times which was very sweet I thought. My baby is doing wonderfully now is flying all over the house and being a sweet and as cuddly as a baby can be. I couldn't ask for a more special bird. she lets my roll her over on her back and she lays there and lets me just love on her. she loves car rides and going for walks on her harrness. what more could I ask from a companion.

If you feel these people are the right people to adopt your Grey But if the have to make payments on the adoption fee your asking are you sure they can afford the cost of keeping an African grey They aren't exactly cheep to keep with vet checkups every year and the cost of nutritous food not just a seed diet. then there is the toy situation even though I do make my own allot of the time It still runs me a good 100. dollars a month for toys and accsesory's I would make sure that they totally understand the finacal commitment as well as the time required they are very expensive and not for just anybody. and then theres the cost of home repairs because as they get older the like to find different things to chew on. I would make sure you screen all potencial owners and make sure they have what it takes to keep an African Grey. I really think that you have made the right decision for yourself and your bird but I would really hate to see Rico passed around from home to home because people don't properly understand what is involed in keeping a bird happy and healthy.

Oh yes Many of us have 2 I have a 6 year old and just adopted a wee babe about 11 weeks ago She's 15 weeks old now and My older one has Taken a likeing to her. even if they don't get along they will be very good company for each other when your not home. They will need to have their own cages anyway and I beleive she's selling the bird with its cage and accesory's for 600. Which is a great deal. here's a picture of my 2 the older one is feeding the baby. Here's a link from someone who knows how to get a hold of the person mabie you can PM her and she can get you the ph number. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/137620-cag-for-sale-5-mos-old-600-w-cage.html

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/19 02:43

Ive decided I'm going to change Gizmos name I think that because he was so neglected and abused in his last home that its best to wipe out any reminders of that part of his life. Since he's been here he has learned the song Jeepers creepers where'd you get those peepers and he sings and dances to it all the time. So I asked him this morning if he would like to be called Jeepers and he got very excited So its offical Gizmo's new name is Jeepers.

oh my that is so sad I have heard of this before and do take heart there is treatment for this and the vet will explain what must be done so that nothing triggers a seisure. I know thus is so sad. I don't understand why some breeder feel so strongly about clipping birds wings especialy an african Grey they need their wings to be happy confident birds.

yes Its two and a half days and the countdown begins. You realize of course this is going to be the longest two and a half days you've ever spent. you better keep yourself busy or you'll be watching the minutes drag on They are going to be so tierd when they get home and when they are tierd they just love to cuddle so give them a big cuddle for me. and don't forget the pictures:laugh:

Is Red palm oil good for all my bird or jus my Macaw and African Greys I know both these parrots eat palm nuts in the wild because they are from Africa but what about My Amazon and Indian ring neck
-
Wow did they ever wean early thats almost unheard of 10 weeks old and totally weaned what did I do wrong I think Adaya was still on 3 feedings a day at that point. like I said she just totally weaned about a week ago
-
Looks like Talon is have a ball hehehe what a great toy I may have to get one.
-
Adaya used to dig like crazy also its only been the last few day's that she has slowed down a bit. I'd give her freash food and she dig every bit of it out of there, when she was younger I was constantly changeing her papers because she'd rip them to shreads I'd call her my little chicken Thats so great that she's flying congrates no your in for a whole lot of TROUBLE HAHAHA
-
Boy did they ever wean Quikly how old are they mine has barely been off the formula for week and here's yours ready to come home already. you are in for a whole lot of fun and a whole lot of training but they are such sweet hearts I just lovea lovea lovea mine and so will you.

What size cage do you all have for your congo grey
Tycos_mom replied to Barbie36's topic in The GREY Lounge
That size is fine for your Grey its the same size I have for my one of my Greys and she loves it and uses every bit of it. My other Greys cage is 48x36x72H and she is just a baby and she uses the whole cage also. Buy the biggest cage you can afford.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/18 10:55 -
Clipping your babys wings at such a young age is very bad for them the need to fly to build proper mustle in their body's Its kinda like cutting your arms off before they even develop. your bird needs its wing to become a confident bird many times when a Grey is clipped to young the becaome nervous and narotic please do not clip him again €until he has good flying skills its very important for them to be fledged properly. Your baby should have never been clipped until it was completly weaned.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/18 10:20

All my birds clasify themselves as a flock and do get along very well I'm happy to say. Adaya being the newest member is still going through the adjustment period of getting to know the other birds and so far she is doing very well with them the only one I woeey about is my Macaw he seems to be a little intimadated by Adaya and hides in his cage when she landsclose by. I'm sure she will win him over though. he seems to like all the other birds so Im sure he will adjust to her as well
-
OMG HOW CUTE IS THAT. What a chacter he sure loves to play with those blankets doesn't he Silly boy. Aren't they just so much fun
-
Mabie you should try awater bottle for now so he doesn't drowned when your not around I'm so sorry to hear about your little bird I hope the vet can give you some hope. please keep us updated I wish I could help but I've never seen this before.

Holy smokes your not spoiling those babies of yours just a little those cages are beautiful and at 2500. 00 they should be. how big do you think your going to be and are you going for a playtop or a dome top or both. I've always been partial to playtop cages myself but I got Adaya a dome top and I must say its really nice with all that extra space inside Adaya loves her cage and I can get so many more toys and perches in her cage than I can in the playtop ones but a dometop with a playtop that opens up I think would be really nice or mabie a dome top with a play area tha drops down in the front of the dome.
