It usualy takes around 7 to 8 months to really start trusting and loving you. I've noticed that with the birds that I have rescued that to be the case Others may have different expierance but with me that seems to be when they turn the corner I've rescued 4 birds and that the time frame it took with all of them.

I'm so excited for you I can't wait til their home tonight and hear how their first night went. they may be off schedule for a few days due to the time change but will soon be on track they will probubly have you up at 5:00 am for the first day or two. Yes i know just what you mean about amazing a friend of mine has a Grey that is just so so much like ziva if its cold she will tell you that its coldy and she will say are you coldy put a sweater on. She goes to work in a old age home everyday with her owner and she always knows the days she goes and which days she has off on work days she says goodmorning time for worky's better hurry were going to be late get up its workt time and on her days off she say no worky today she knows so many things its really quite amazing. I think Adaya will prububly get to know more that Tyco although Tyco is really smart and has learned allot in a very short time when I gor Tyco she didn't talk all she did was make sound effects of what she could hear out of the tine bedroom she was locked in. Shes only been Talking for about a year and 3 months I;m sure she will learn more and more because she's been like a little spouge and soaking up everything she hears its really quite amazing the things she has learned already. She definatly knows how to express he feeling and her likes and dislike and she knows tons of food products by name and arks for allot of the ones she likes when she wants them and she also knows what I'll be back in a few minutes or I have to go to work I'll see you later she knows how long I will be gone quite awhile when I gp to work.:woohoo:

Adaya seems to be doing fine she's pooping normally and right now she's sleeping like a baby. I'm so glad I know what its like they can be so stubborn when their peeved at you like I said Tyco stayed mad for 3 days I thought I was totally back to square one but within 3 days she forgave me I guess she figured it was more fun to be with me than not too. Mabie thats what your thinks also. I;m glad things are getting better.

Adaya Either spit it out or crunched it up small enough to pass through the gizzard because there was nothing in her crop. the vet said to make sure that she's pooping normaly and eating normaly for the next couple days and to feed her lots of papaya to help her pass it quickly I have to change her papers often so I can make sure she's pooping ok. So I'm hopeing she will be okay the Vet said theres a good chance if its gone from the crop then she should be ok I hope so I'm just a basket case. I'm suppose to go to work tonight and I don't want to go and my daughter also haveing her baby and I should be there for her also what a day I don't know what todo Well I phoned someone to cover my shift at work so I'll have some time at home before I have to go to the hospital I can watch Adaya to make sure she goes potty regularly I cut up some fresh papaya and gave her some Apple sauce so if that doesn't make her poop good and slippery nothing will.I just hope it passes. I checked everywhere for the rest of that button its definatly not anywhere to be found she must have really crunched it up small to have it go through so quickly. the little brat. Even my vet told her she not to eat forein object all the while Adaya chatting away like nothing in the world is wrong. Baby birds are as bad as human children putting everything that their not supposed to in their mouths I'm going to have 20 new grey hairs tomorrow after this I'm sure. The button was so tiny just the collar button on mans shirt and I found half of it so she only swallowed a tiny bit of it I tried to take it away from her but there was noway she was giving it up. now she's got me so worried the vet said that they shold be able to get it out no problem I guess they will just empty her crop poor baby

Well I made a vet appointment she will be seeing the Vet at 1:00 pm which is 2 hours from now I am freaking out.

Adaya ate half my button its just a tiny one off a mans shirt She chewed it off the shirt and it broke in half and I tried to take it away from her and she swallowed it. Now Im worried will she be okay will it bo strait through or should I take her to the vet I think she chewed it into little bits first before she swallowed it

I'm becomeing a grandma again today My first grand daughter will be born sometime today and I couldn't be happier I have 2 grandsons and now a grand daughter yipeeee she will also be born on my Nephews birthday which makes it double the pleasure.

I have Adaya almost potty trained she at least won't poop on me any more which I'm very happy about.

All new ovens and that type of appliance must have the toxins burned off before you use it I remember when I bought My new stove it had a warning in the book it came with to make sure I burned factory toxins out of the oven at 500 degree in an well vented area before using my oven. I took all the birds outside and turnd on the oven up to 550 the company said 20 minutes I left it on for 1 hour just to make sure. then I aired out my house completely. I bought a rotisorie that omited the same smell So I haven't even used it yet. I really think that all company's should let people know about this There was no warning on my rotisorie either.

Like Dan said next time instead of chasing the bird around let the bird stay where he is and take the cat and put him in a different room and shut the door that way you don't have to worry about leaving the room for a few momemts and the cat won't hold it against you. I wouldn't worry to much he's may be just sulking for a few days because you made him go back when he didn't want to The last time I took my 6 year old to the vet she didn't talk to me for three days She's a rescue and I thought for sure that she didn't love me anymore and that our relationship was over every time I went near her she turned her back and went to the back of her cage. But within three days she was fine again. She was just really mad at me and wanted to let me know in her own way that she din't like that at all. Mabie that what your bird is doing also.

Get a couple of good air cleaners and this will help also. a quick dusting everyday and a dust moping on the floor will take care of the dust but they are very messy or can be depending on your birds personality I have one thats very tidy. I also have one that loves to bath so it really does depend on your Greys personality the other Grey I have is the complete oppisite and loves make huge messes .

I was looking at atoms on line yesterday and I really wanted one for my birds but everything I order on line from the USA costs me atleast double so I decided I would try making one first and I did I'm not finished yet but heres what I've done so far I'm going to cover the whole thing in sisle rope then add a eye hook in the middle so I can hang a toy in there. when its complete I will take another pic I was just really excited and had to share <br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/20 14:25

Thats about it you have to pull yourself together and be happy for the sake of your relationship don't change your behaviour and he might just forget this ever happened.

It happens do not show signs of being upset keep doing thing the same way you've always done them like nothing has change.don't get emotional be happy around him. When you aprouch his cage don't look at him straight on look at him with one eye or lower your head also when you approch his cage com in from the side or zig zag you want to show him your not a bad person and that you still want to be friends just talk to him sing to him and go slow if you half to put your hands behind your back eventually he will see that you are the same person you've always been and forgive you. Grey's are empaths and can sence your feelings so if you feeling upset about this then he may think something is really wrong so you have to be happy and do everything like this never happened.

Isn't that nice just keep talking to him and he will soon understand everything you say. and then you'll be haveing grey't conversation with him.

Adaya's been off her formula for just over a week now and doing just fine the first couple days she would cry so I'd make her formula she take one little mouthful and spit it out. after three days of this when she cryed I woud just cuddle her and sing lulubys to her and she would stop crying. then I would give her somthing like a grape and that would get her started and then she'd eat her food. I think they just need that extra reassurance when they aren't getting formula anymore. She's doing great but I must say she's allot smaller than my Tyco she only weighs about 427 gr Tyco weighs a whopping 570grams big difference Oh yea almost forgot your bird will not starve itself he will eat eventually weather you are there or not. You've sold me I'm going to by one or two for my birds One for the kitchen and 1 for my bedroom those are the 2 rooms we spend most of or time. I'm sure my birds will just love. it I have so many things hanging from the ceiling for them to play on I'll have to reall think about where I'm going to put it I'm running out of ceiling room :laugh:

I bought mine online in Canada but I know that their are places in the us that you can buy bigger bottles for fairly cheep I bought mine where I live because it ends up costing me double if I order from the us with taxes s/h and duty and of course the exchange rate so I try to buy from my own country whenever possible. just Google red palm oil for birds and you should get a few links.

Oh thats cute she really really wanted to come out. I know what its like when I have to go to work my birds get upset because they know when I go to work i go for quite a while so I get my Amazon screaming its not fair its just not fair and Tyco no go work no work talk about make a person feel guilty for trying to make a living. Sometimes I will tell them that I'll bring home something for them and boy do they remember when I say that I come home and they are checking me out to see what I brought.:laugh: I really is scary how very smart they are.

yesterday my daughter came in and said I'm bored can we do something and before I had a chance to answer Tyco said not today so I said you heard the bird and Tyco said yea Then my daughter said but I'm really bored the Tyco in a firmer voice said no not today. I could help but laugn my daughter didn't find it funny she walked away mumbling stupid bird under her breath which made me laugh all the harder and then that of course made Tyco laugh also.Poor kid:laugh:
