1. When he plcks his feather are you giveing him any kind of attention Like saying don't do that or stop. if you are you could be incorageing the behaviour without meaning too. You have to completely ignore him and don't ever let him see that its upseting you. straight Aloe vera baths daily might help. does he have toys that he can shread in his cage this may also help to keep him busy. are you spending less time with him then you used to mabie he's feeling lonley has anything changed a picure the color of his room a new lamp anything at all have you added new furnature. Please take him to the vet he may have mites or something thats making him itchy. all illness must be ruled out before you can start with other causes. Don't worry once you find out the cause his feathers will grow back. Is he clipped or fully flighted sometimes a bad clip can also cause this.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/06/04 21:24
2. Well Fergies not a AG but she is a very wet birdy after her bath and then of course there is Aday she just love being soaken wet so heres she is also
3. I love your ziva storys he so sweet trying so hard to make you feel better when you had a headache. Man do I know what headaches feel like when your around noisy birds mine always seem like nice quiet little sweethearts until I get one of those tension cluster headaches about once every 2 months then they seen like the moisiest bunch of brats I've ever heard. and it makes me want to just get as far away from them as I can. I certinly can relate to how yo where feeling. Hope you ok now. Raposa thats very sweet Jenna is missing her friend so she want to know if you will be her friend just like your mom is. what a cutie I hope your mom gets better soon so Jenna can have her friend back.
4. My Tyco loves the colour pink and for that matter so does Adaya Its the one colour Tyco has never been afraid to attack right away when it come to toys I could have to identical Toys one pink and one green and she will pick the the pink one everytime. I'm sure your boys will love their boings I know my 2 greys just love them I know how hard they are to get I have one for each of my birds but 2 of them I had to special order from the local pet food outlet. I live in a very small town and its hard to find anything for the larger birds.
5. Look at that cutie pie I canso understand why you love him so much how could any body in their right mind not fall head over heals in love with a sweet little baby like that makes me want to just pick him up and squeeze him. I feel exactly the same way about Adaya except I do pick her up and give her squeezes She loves it. She is so special she will allow me to do anything with her she juust trsts me so much My other birds love me and trust me but its so different from Adaya I guess because I raised her from the time she was 5 weeks old. she loves to wresle with me when she's laying belly up on the palm of my hand and when she wants scritches she will just drop head first into my hand silly bird. She knows I would never let her fall. She really is quite the little character. I could not even think about my life without her or why I didn't get one when I was so much younger we cold have spent our whole lives together. You are so lucky you and your Grey will grow old together what a wonderful blessing you have.
6. My birds are very well trained that way when I say ok nite nite time into your houses they go into their cages. I can pretty much say into your houses any time and they go sometimes Fergie will give me a bit of greif but as soon as I pick up a perch to step her up onto she useually goes into her cage on her own. I gues she figures one way or another moms going to get me in there so I'll go peacefully. Adaya so far has been really good about it also I still have to physicly pick her up and put her in her cage but she's pretty good about stepping down onto her boing in her cage. I'm hopeing that she will learn by watching the other birds go into their cages on their own and do the same thing we shall see.
7. Ibath Tyco that way also altough latley she has been prefering the spray bottle Adaya loves her bath with the spray bottle and Tyco has been watching. Yesterday it was so hot and Tyco was on he boing so I decided it time to cool off a bit it was so funny she started flapping her wings when I sprayed her and the boing started spinning so al I ad to do was keep spraying and as the boing went round and round she got absolutly soaked on every part of her body when I stopped she looked at me Like why are you stopping that felt so good.
8. Does this place where you boarded your birds does she keep other peoples birds on the same boarding porch are there walls between your birds and the other peoples birds If not I would be worried about illness. I so worry about my birds around other birds. I could never leave my birds unless I had a qualified birdsitter to come in and look after my birds for me.
9. I'm not that short but my birds cages are huge. I think if anyone saw me when I'm covering the birds the would think I was nuts I throw heave it pull push what ever it takes with Tycos cage I use two kingsize blankets to totaly cover her cage its so big and I don't have a proper bird cover same with Ferrgie but its not as hard because he cage isn't quite as tall as Tycos. Aday's is against a wall but she has the biggest cage of allmy birds so I just cover the top half I figure if thats what she get used to while she is a baby that will be all I'll ever have todo. Jeepers was never covered before I got him so he also only gets the top half of his cage covered. the rest are small birds and easy to cover. I often think it would be so much easier if they all had sleep cages and I think when my youngest daughter grows up I'll turn her room into a bedroom for the birds I have enough small cages around here to give them all a comfy little place to sleep most of my rescues came with small cages which I have replaced with extremly large cages so I still have a shed full of smaller cages that sit there taking up space. I've been tempted to give Jeepers a sleep cage because he is so cgae teritoial but I don't have a clue how I would get himinto it every night since he won't step up yet.
10. I would defenitly leave him home with the kids they are old enough to take care of him. Does Monty go back to his cage on his own at bedtime or do you have to take him to his cage and put him init? Is he perch trained? I'm just asking these questions because when its bed time for the birds at my house all I have to do is say ok its nite nite time and all of my birds scurry into their cages and wait for my to come and cive them their kiss goodnite and a little scritch. before I cover them. Or if he is perch trained then mabie if he doesn't go to his cage on his own mabie the kids could step him up onto a perch and put him to bed and that way while you are gone Monty could mabie have some out of cage time. mabie not as much as he is used to but some at least. If he doesn't do either of these 2 thing mabie you could start teaching him so when your gone he is prepared and won't have to be locked up 24/7. but I definatly wouldn't board him in a pet store if there is an option for him to be home in familer ground even if he does have to stay in his cage.
11. She gorgous I just love her colouring The name Sashi suits her perfectly she totaly looks like a Sashi to me
12. Thats so cute Slater Catlian Grey sing the firstpart and the second part she put that on video the other day it was really cute. I'd love to hear the whole thing being sung by a Grey that would be so awesome. Ive been teaching my birds a new song also when they get it down perfectly I'll borrow my daughters video camera and record it for you. but you just have to get whisper on tape for us and soon I just gotta to hear her sing I bet she sond so adorable
13. I really hard not to get totally excited about anything new our feathered companions do its just like haveing a litte child and when they learn todo thing for the first time we get excited. Iwould be on cloud 9 also if I were you. congradulaionsfor a new accomplishment.
14. Isn't it wonderful what they are capable of There isn't another animal that can actualy talk to us in our own language that alone makes these birds very speicial I realy beleive they are God angel sent to earth to watch over us their just is nothing on earth that compares to their beauty and intelegence its just amazing to me.
15. Adayas cage is so huge I have 8 perches in her cage one is a swing and one in a boing the rest she has 3 natrural branches one dowel that right accross the middle 2 calcium perches and a rope perch and also 6 toys not including her boing and swing. But her cage is gigantic It really didn't look as big as it is in the store but when I set it up at home its just huge She loves it though to watch her play and have fun in there make it all worth it
16. OMG I sososo sorry You must be so devestaed I hope your not blameing yourself for this its not your fault sometime things like this happen and we don't know why. You where a very good mom to your baby and you will see her again she's no longer in pain and she is waiting for you just accross rainbow bridge. In time the hurt won't hurt as bad and the wonderful memorys will bubble up in the place of all that hurt. when your ready mabie you can try again with another bird it won't ever replace your bobbielui but it may help with the pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time and I pray the pain doesn't last to long.
17. Oh my Ziva really didn't take the news well did HE I almost said she had to capitolize it to get it through my head. He's a smart little boy thats for sure Congradulations on your baby boy.
18. Very very good Slaters a pretty good little talker Echo will learn quickly Tyco's a good talker alsoand I'm hoping Adaya learns from her and not Fergie. My ringneck started talkin he learn from Fergie he sounds just like her when she's screaming you f#*@n pr#ck so now I have 2 potty mouth birds. Oh well what can ya do.

20. Dave gave you some good advice your partner will have to find another way to have a relationship with Dalia it may not be the same kind of relationship that you have with her but It still can fill the void. He should continue to give her treats and talk sweetly to her mabie he could try and teach her a few simple trick something that is fun for both of them. Tyco loves my daughter even though she won't allow my daughter to touch her or pet her but she taught her a few games and now everytime my daughter comes to vist Tyco gets very excited and starts playing the game its very cute to watch. I would never give up my birds for a man if I started dating again if the man could except my bird then hes not the man for me. Just like a single mom wouldn't give up her kids for a man. I feel like my birds are my kids now take us all or none.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/06/02 23:26
21. Sully is so beautiful I'm so glad you have such a wonderful heart for taking in a plucking older Bird. Sully will soon relize he has the best mommy in the world and will grow all his feathers back because he will be the happiest bird in the world. :cheer:
22. I Just adore baby Greys or I guess I should say any baby bird for that matter they are soosoo ugly and that makes them so much cuter. they remind me of terridactal dinosaurs. look how cute they are playing with each other who couldn't just fall head over heals in love with these little angels.:silly:
23. We all know exactly how you feel about your beautiful bird because we also love our birds the same way they are very speicial in many many ways. I would not even want to know what my life would be like without them they grab onto your heart very much like your own children do and soon you have this unconditional love for them. I cant count how many times my rescued parrots bit me before they trusted me. but I never held it against them its not their fault. Ilove them sososo much. Adaya she's a total other story I have so many feeling for her she is so sweet. She is also starting to mimic sounds and can wolf whistle and the micro wave perfectly. she is trying so hard to say hello I can here her practice al the time.It is really exciting to listen to them and all the little sounds they make

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/06/02 06:34

25. I agree totally you are a great Parront when a person cannot do the job themselves for what ever reason the its so much better to rehome and let someone else take over. I so wish that my Macaws previous parront did what you did. she didn't though Instead she locked him up all by himself with no interaction for 6 or 7 years. Nom I have him and he has no Idea how to behave around people. We are getting there slowly. She developed an alergy to him after her cancer treatments. I can tell you that I totally repct you for making the right desision good for you a good luck to you in your future
